Great Ink that flows well!
This is a really good ink. Ive use it for several months and have no issues. The write writes very well. It is durable. The shade of black is what I would expect for my ink to be. I did not have ossu with water. I've also been using it with my fountain pen for several months and it didn't clog the pen. I really have no complaints of the ink especially for the price. This is solid. The ink itself isn't opaque. There is a slight bleed with the water resistance, do I wouldn't expect it to be 100% water proof.

Really good black ink
This is a really good and underrated black ink. Its a nice deep dark black color. Of the 12 black inks I've tested, this is probably tied for 2nd or 3rd darkest. It may be difficult to tell in the picture, but its pretty clear in person. The darkest black is Cross Black. 2nd is a toss up between Noodler's X Feather, Kaweco Black Pearl, and Hongdian non carbon Black. Kaweco Black Pearl has a cool color temperature in some lighting conditions, X Feather seems neutral, and so does Hongdian non carbon Black. This Hongdian non carbon Black has good flow and is fairly smooth. It was well behaved on both ends of the nib spectrum - 1.9 Stub nib on one end (which is what I used in the picture for all of the writing samples), and a really tight Extra Fine nib on the other. I would put the amount of time it takes to dry in the medium range. It takes about 20 seconds to dry when using the 1.9 stub nib, which isn't too bad since it puts down a lot of ink. It only takes about a second to a second and a half when using the Extra Fine nib. It has pretty good water resistance, but its not as good as Noodler's X Feather in that regard. This leads to the one thing I don't like about this ink, which is that it turns purple when it gets wet. That is a minor pet peave of mine when dealing with black inks. I really prefer that they stay on the gray scale when they get wet. When cleaning out nibs or cartridge converters, this ink will turn a very deep purple when coming into contact with water and turns a nice light purple as it gets more diluted. When getting wet on paper, purplish color will come up off of the page first, but the color that remains on the page it still black, or sometimes charcoal gray depending on how much ink lifted off when it got wet. This ink is a great value and a real sleeper as far as black inks go. It will be in my regular rotation along with Noodler's X Feather and Cross Black (if I can ever find a bottle of it). Its also the least expensive of those 3. For what its worth, Kaweco Black Pearl is also pretty good except it has poor water resistance and doesn't flow for crap out of Extra Fine nibs. Hard Starts are the norm, and skipping isn't out of the question, which is why it won't be in my rotation once I am done with my cartridges. I haven't had any flow issues with it out of my stub nibs, but I need a black ink that works in Fine and Extra Fine nibs as well.

More than just black and green
This ink has the most unassuming name. Yes you get some blackness and you get a good amount of green but mostly you get a lovely vibrant deep teal. The color is dark enough that a very fine pen will leave a dark visible line, yet the color is also interesting enough that when you use a broader nib, you get interesting gradients of teal green and dark green, making it versatile for both notes and calligraphy. Also 60ml for the price is a pretty good value. The ink is NOT waterproof so maybe don't rely on it for important documents, but being water soluble means it's also very easy to clean and won't stain fabrics, so it's a good ink to mess around with and experiment with. The ink also comes in a rather thick walled glass bottle with a wide bottom, it feels hefty and topple-resistant, and the wide mouth can accommodate pretty much any size pen. The bottle cap is threaded steel with an insert to help seal the ink. It opens rather easily and I can see the bottle being totally reusable for other inks once I run out.

Great ink, great price!
I've reviewed the Hong Dian Black ink previously purchased in cartridge form. I like the ink well-enough I decided to buy it in bulk, as I fill my own cartridges. In fact, this ink has gone into my collection, among a number of other makers' brands. The Hong Dian has to be one or the best values available for fountain pen writers. I also have two of their pens and love both of those, and so far I've only inked them with Hong Dian Black. It measures up quite well to Cross, and even dare I say it, Sailor Jentle? Yes, I know, blasphemy! I'm not saying this ink is equal to the Sailor black; just that it does measure up to it quite well. It flows well in my pens, no problems as it behaves and writes very smoothly. It's not as rich as the Sailor, but it's very close, and very nice to write with. And after you've written with it and look back, it looks really good to the eye. Clean, crisp and doesn't seem to flood into inexpensive (read cheap) paper. It stays on top of the page and dries fairly quickly. I like it and recommend it as a great value! I cannot attest to it's durability, but it seems to hold up as well as any other ink I've used. I think it is versatile in that it works in all of my pens without any issues. You should give it a try!

Great for Drawing
Alright, I only bought this ink because I am just getting into the world of fountain pens, this ink was inexpensive, and I am a cheap@$$. Figured I'd start with this and if it sucked, I would go buy something more expensive. Nope, this stuff is amazing! I seriously can't believe how much I like this ink. I use it with the Asvine Hongdian Black Forest Fountain Pen (fine nib). This pen/ink combo has never dripped on me, or dropped an explosion of ink on my page. I do a lot of pencil and pen drawing so I needed an ink that would A) dry quickly and B) not bleed through my page too badly. This ink checked off both boxes. It has less bleed through than some other higher-end Japanese pens I have. The black is a nice, deep black, and matches the Copic 100 Black pretty closely (but it is not a 100% match. Probably 90% of the way there. You can tell the difference if you hold it up to the right light. But it is close enough that I don't see much variation unless I am looking hard at it). I really thought this was going to be junk and it would end up sitting in a drawer somewhere. I have used it every night, it is now my primary ink for drawing. The bottle neck is very wide, so refilling the pen is easy. I am really happy with this.

Nice color, but tends to smear for this lefthander
I recently decided to dip my toes into the world of fountain pens and, upon seeing the Hongdian ink as a "frequently purchased together" item decided to give it a go. Overall, I am pleased with the ink's appearance on the page. It truly is a bluish gray, though the extent of the gray seems to depend somewhat on the paper. On a basic yellow legal pad, I have found it favor the gray while on smoother paper, such as a receipt, the blue is more pronounced. Overall, the color looks nice. As a lefthander, particularly one that writes from the side, one thing I'm always aware of is smearing and smudging. I have found this ink to be a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to drying time and resistance to smudging, even with an extra-fine nib. Some of this is attributable to paper differences. On a Midori MD A5 notebook, I have encountered smearing even after the passage of several minutes. On a receipt, however, the ink does not smear even though less time has elapsed. None of this is a criticism of this ink, but lefthanders should be aware that their experience may vary depending on the paper and nib being used. I'm not an expert in ink prices by any stretch, but 60 mL seems to be a decent amount for the price. The packaging was very lovely and I did not have any leaks whatsoever, so I cannot be more pleased on that front. In the final analysis, I think most fountain pen users will be pleased with this ink if they are looking for a bluish gray hue. Lefthanders, however, should be mindful of the propensity for smearing and how they might combat that.

Hongdian’s ink is true artistry in a bottle
This Hongdian ink is of medium weight, does not clump, and dries quickly. On white paper, the peacock color strikes a beautiful, bright appearance. Hongdian’s ink is not watery and draws up smoothly into the pen. The jar’s opening is wide enough to easily draw up the ink, unlike some brands. Hongdian may take a few extra days to arrive (don’t expect two-day Prime), but it is worth the quality with this brand.

beautiful cool toned baby pink <3
I did LOTS of research to find the perfect pink for me, i hate hot pink in inks and i wanted a baby pink for what still legible, THIS is the one. I was so close to buying from other brands but im glad i didnt. AND its affordable, i absolutely love this ink i genuinely havent stopped writing since i received it. I included a picture and hopefully it gives you a better idea. The ink is more on the wet side which includes some shading here and there (I personally adore) . No bleed-through at all and so far its worked great on my Kaweco Perkeo fountain pen! BUY BUY

Hongdian: quality first
Hongdian inks are just like the pens: just perfect. This here is a beautiful dark brown. I have already decided that I will buy it again. And also try the other colours

Iroshizuku level ink at a Hongdian price point. Awesome!
So impressed either way this ink. It has a really good flow and I’d call it a high shading ink. It at least shades in western fine nibs and broader. I keep it regularly in a Twsbi Diamond 580 carribean onyx for the matchy-matchy and it’s just a great combo! One of the best ink values out there… certainly seems comparable to an Iroshizuku, as an example.
