Aegis Series for Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini/GT-I9190 - Retail Packaging - Pink

After buying my first smart phone, I wanted to ensure it had a good protetective case. Both Trident and Otterbox have dual protection. After recommendations from the rep who sold me the S4 mini, I planned to get the Trident, but they were out of stock.Because of the color selection (I didn't want black) I paid to get a rush order for the grey Otterbox Commuter (since I have used other Otterbox products w/ great success). I ended up returning my Otterbox after paying for rush shipment, as well losing money for a non-refundable return of $10, for the following reasons:1. PRIMARY REASON: Trident has more of the rubber around the case edges and a hard plastic back that wraps over the top and bottom of the phone. Otterbox is more of the plastic slippery case around the entire case, including the case edges, with only the rubber around the corners. The Otterbox made it much harder for me to hold without slipping out of my hand.2. The Trident felt smaller in my hand, but it may be partly due to the fact it wasn't as slippery and it was much easier to manage with one hand. The Otterbox was much more difficult to hold and access the icons.3. Trident has a tiny lip for the rubber part covering the portion where your adapter and headset plugs in so it isn't a problem to access the areas. Otterbox was flush plastic so it is hard to open unless you have nails. I do have nails so it wasn't a problem for me, but I could see if being a problem for those who do not have long nails. A male friend told me that after opening it various times on the Otterbox, the flap is easier to open without the nails.I wishh both companies would make other subtle colors other than black (Otterbox's grey was actually a white hard cover over 95% of it, while the rubber was grey). Both have black covers which is not my favorite color since it is harder to find in my purse. Trident's other color was a bright blue, which was a bit too bright for my taste.Both were easy to have in the pocket. With the recommendation of the phone rep, I ended up buying a separate screen shield so I do not know how the screen protectors work on either of the models.Overall I am much happier with the Trident Aegis after using the phone with both, the Aegis and Otterbox Commuter. It was much cheaper as well.

If you are looking for the useless "I love, love, love it!" rating, look elsewhere.I purchased this case for an S4 mini which seems to be a challenge of its own.The case arrived in a respectable and as promised time frame and the packaging was sufficient - kudos to the seller.PROS:-The price is the first of many pros, as it comes in at approx half the price of the Otterbox Commuter, even less than that of the Defender. The honest comparison is to the Commuter case though as the Defender is in another category.-Easy assembly and insertion of the phone. I didn't utilize the provided screen protector since it does not have the two square cut-outs on the lower left and right as the VZW protector does. Not sure if they are necessary?-Partially rubberized case combined with hard plastic give it a look, feel and durability of that of more costly competitor's cases.-Easy to use in the hand with the rubberized sides - non slip and not bulky.-Rubber covers for the USB and 3.5mm jack, as well as the side controls.CONS:-The side rubber that runs the length of the screen on each side is too flexible and allows the protection to be pulled away from the screen that it is protecting - needs to be a stiffer compound or to have a stiffener within the long run.-The rubber that covers the buttons on either of the side controls (volume and power) needs to be more pronounced regarding the rubber buttons themselves. When the finger is run over the rubber buttons during a call, it is very difficult to discern where the button actually resides. This makes the in-call volume up/down very difficult - extend the rubber buttons so the user can feel them and/or make the buttons arrows so that the user can easily tell up from down.-The port for the 3.5mm jack (top of phone) is cut too narrowly and finding cables or 2.5mm to 3.5mm converters that will fit within the narrow cut port is difficult. All cables or converters that I currently own will not seat correctly into the jack. The diameter is too great for the narrow channel to allow the cable to be pushed the entire depth required to make connectivity.If there are cables or converters that the Trident company can suggest, please provide links.-The case needs to have the "Trident" rubberized emblem extended (beyond the plastic) just another 1/2mm or to have another rubberized skid strip added to the back of the phone. This case holds the phone in place better than no case at all, but the case will still allow for slipping and skidding on a table or other smooth surface - easily fixed by manufacturer.OVERALL:I would recommend the case as priced but I think that there are improvements to be made - especially the headphone jack port.

Review is for Trident Case AG-S4MINI-BK Aegis Series Case for Samsung Galaxy S4.This case fits the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Case dimensions with phone inside it are exactly 5/8 in thick X 2 3/4 in wide X 5 1/4 in long.Pro's- The case fits excellent and gives a sturdy rubberized feel to it. The 2 piece system of rubber housing and hard plastic outer shell keep the phone from moving inside the case. There is plenty of rubber lip overlapping the face of the phone to keep it protected without interfering with operation. The case has openings for the speaker, IR port, main camera, mic, 1/4 in jack, charging port and something else that I don't know what it is. The front facing camera, home button and sensor are not obstructed either. The power button and volume +/- buttons are activated by buttons placed on the sides of the rubberized portion...they are accurate and feel just like the buttons you are accustomed to. I cannot say enough about the placement and execution of these side buttons. The rubber caps for the charging port and 1/4 in jack close seamlessly and stay that way.Con's- It's not free. No belt clip. The lint free wipe that comes with the free screen saver actually puts lint on the screen while trying to wipe it off. The directions for the installation of screen saver are not present. The case adds considerable bulk.Other Thoughts- For $20 you will not find a better case. The free screensaver seems like some bonus afterthought. I need my phone to be able to take a beating for me and I believe this phone case is up to the task.
