Meaco Dd8L Junior Desiccant Dehumidifier 8 L - White/ Blue Trim

This is a fabulous machine! I’ve never had a dehumidifier before but needed one as I’ve moved to a new home where condensation and laundry drying are issues. It’s was a huge outlay for me at £170 but now Im certain that a cheap one would have been a false economy.This works so well, is easy to use with clear instructions. The only thing I had a slight problem with is the writing in the instruction leaflet is microscopic and I had to train my phone torch on it to read it!I was a bit nervous at first as it’s an electrical device involving water but now have come to trust it to do it’s thing efficiently and safely. It’s obviously a quality build and hopefully will keep going long after the cost has stopped smarting!The reviews saying it leaks a bit of water I think are probably because people have taken the tank out too soon after turning it off, it keeps dripping for a minute so you just have to leave it to finish.Also reviews saying some bits are flimsy, which nearly put me off; the filter piece which comes off is not a sturdy lump and the water tray is not thick but the plastic quality of all parts is good and really you just have to make sure not to just yank either of them out and I’m sure they will last for years. When I first started it up there was an smell as mentioned in some reviews of various dehumidifiers, in this case was definitely from some heating off of manufacturing residue and it completely disappeared after an hour or so. Now there is no unpleasant smell, I’m extremely sensitive to smells and would certainly notice if there was.It is quite weird to go into a room with very low humidity (after it’s been shut in with the laundry) if you are used to, as I am, living in a damp old house in the soggy South West of England but that is a nose sensation rather than a smell. It’s so amazing to find your clothes all dry despite the constant down pouring outside.This little chap gets two thumbs up from me and I think will become as good a household friend as my Henry hoover!

Ich habe mir letzte Woche den zweiten Meaco DD8L Junior bestellt. Ein super Gerät.Einer steht bei uns im Wintergarten, wo es nachts auch mal 5°C werden kann. Der andere steht in der Wohnküche bei 18°C. Beide laufen im Automatikmodus.Der Meaco DD8L hat drei Leistungsstufen und auf der kleinsten Stufe ist er sehr leise. Ich hatt mir auch mal zwei Kondensationstrockner (Lübra WDH 101 und einen von De Longhi) bestellt. Diese waren wesentlich lauter. Kondensationstrockner haben alle das typische Klimaanlagengeräusch, also dieses nervtötende Vibrieren wie ein alter Kühlschrank.In der ersten Stufe zieht das Gerät ca. 330 W, in den beiden höchsten ca. 650 W. In der dritten Stufe, die zum Wäschetrocknen dient, läuft lediglich der Ventilator schneller. Die kleinste Stufe genügt für den Alltag. Die großen Stufen machen ich an, wenn ich Wäsche trockne oder mal richtig viel gekocht habe und die Luft feucht ist.Man kann vier Feuchtigkeitsstufen einstellen, die das Gerät automatisch hält. Die kleinste Trocknungsstufe regelt den Raum auf 65% Raumfeuchte runter. Das Gerät steht im Wintergarten und geht von alleine an und aus. Die Fenster unseres Wintergartens beschlagen nicht mehr! Das funktionert super. Die anderen drei Stufen regeln bis auf 40 % Raumfeuchte runter. Das ist sehr gut zum Wäschetrocknen im Winter. In vier Stunden ist eine ganze Waschmaschinenladung trocken!Den Auffangbehälter von 2 Liter muss ich alle zwei Tage ausleeren. Das ist machbar. Wenn man Wäsche trocknet, ist der Auffangbehälter natürlich schon nach ein paar Stunden voll. Ein bisschen doof ist es, dass man nur von der Geräterückseite an den Auffangbehälter kommt. Man muss das Gerät also immer bewegen, wenn man es entleert. Ich habe es jetzt einfach verkehrt herum hingestellt.Das Gerät ist sehr klein, steht unauffällig in der Zimmerecke und kann leicht rumgetragen werden.Das einzig negative: DIESES GERÄT BRAUCHT SEHR VIEL STROM. Das gilt übrigens auch für andere Adsorptionstrockner.Die Wattzahlen bei den verschiedenen Trocknungsgeräten sagen erst mal überhaupt nichts aus. Der einzig entscheidende Wert ist die Effizienz. Also wie viel kWh brauche ich pro Liter Wasser, das der Trockner aus der Luft gezogen hat.Der Meaco DD8L Junior braucht unabhängig von Temperatur und Luftfeuchte ca. 2,2kWh pro Liter.Bei Kondensationstrocknern ist das abhängig von der Raumfeuchte und der Temperatur. Je wärmer und feuchter es ist, um so weniger Strom braucht ein Kondensationstrockner pro Liter Wasser.Die Unterschiede sind extrem. Ein Kondensationstrockner für den normalen Haushalt brauchtca. 0,5k Wh bei 80% Raumfeuchte und über 15°C undca. 1 kWh bei 60% Raumfeuchte und über 15°C.Aber bis zu 3 kWh bei 60% Raumfeuchte und unter 10°C.Eine interessante Übersicht findet man bei Lübra. Dazu muss man nach folgenden Begriffen googeln: diverses/docs/datenblatt alle entfeuchter.pdfWenn man also einen Raum entfeuchten muss, der wärmer als 10°C ist und richtig feucht ist, dann ist ein Kondensationstrockner effizenter.Warum habe ich mir trotzdem einen zweiten Meaco DD8L bestellt? Weil er so wunderbar leise ist und sehr leicht zu transportieren ist. Weil es im Wintergarten auch mal sehr kalt ist und der Trockner auch bei sehr niedrigen Temperaturen funktioniert. Und weil ich nicht so viel entfeuchten muss und deswegen der Mehrverbrauch an Strom nicht so dramatisch ist (ca. 10€/Monat).Wer aber einen richtig feuchten Raum hat, in dem es wärmer als 15°C ist und für den das Geräusch eines Trockners zweitrangig ist, dem empfehle ich einen Kondensationstrockner.P.S.:Es gibt noch einen DD8L (also ohne Junior) Der ist baugleich, hat aber zusätzlich einen Luftionisator und soll Gerüche aus der Luft filtern. I purchased this to help with drying washing inside in the winter and it does an amazing job!I've used a tumble dryer before and found them to take a long time and use a ton of energy, so wanted to try the dehumidifier route. After researching a little and finding Meaco to be a good brand I bought this and since using have not been disappointed.Hang your washing up, stick this on and in only an hour they're already pretty dry. Because it is a desiccant dehumidifier, it warms the air (which is a bonus in winter) and draws the moisture out of it too, making it perfect for drying washing. You can see how well it works by the amount of water it draws out of the air.I also use it to heat a room up sometimes as it is the most cost effective way to heat, with really low running costs. Its light enough to pick up and move around the house wherever you need it and if you want to run it for a long time (if your house is particularly damp) you can plug a tube in the back so it drain straight out into a basin etc so you don't have to empty if so often, which I liked the idea of, but haven't had to use.It also has humidity settings so it will turn on and off when the humidity level is reached, that as well as timer functions, it really does just work great. My dad has bought one on my recommendation too to deal with his damp/mould problem and he loves it. I can't really think of anything I would add to it.I don't know if it's better than a cheaper desiccant dehumidifier but it's definitely worth it for the winter months.

Ausgepackt, aufgestellt und schon kann es los gehen.Da dieser Luftentfeuchter keinen Kompressor hat, sondern wie große/teure Bautrockner auch, nach dem Absorptions-Prinzip arbeitet, kann er sofort eingesetzt werden und leistet ordentliche Arbeit.Eben auch wenn es mal kälter im Raum ist.Im Waschraum (Keller) bei nur 10°C Temp, geht die Luftfeuchtigkeit innerhalb zwei Stunden von 85% auf 45% runter obwohl da feuchte Wäsche hängt. Der Behälter füllt sich wirklich schnell mit Wasser!Das hätte ich nie gedacht, denn die anderen Geräte (Kompressor-Technik mit Kühlmittel) haben das bei weitem nicht geschafft, bzw bei nur 10°C garnichts mehr gemacht.Es ist auch ein Schlauch dabei wenn man den Behälter nicht benutzen will.In unserem Kunden-Büro Raum, der zu 70% aus großen Glasflächen besteht, hatte es 90% Luftfeuchte und die Glasscheiben waren komplett angelaufen! Der Raum wird ab 18 Uhr und am Wochenende nicht geheizt. Die Temp geht dann auch ca 5-10° runter. Auch hier schafft es das Gerät die Luftfuechtigkeit so zu reduzieren, dass die Scheiben nicht mehr beschlagen. Der Raum hat 4 Meter Deckenhöhe und ist 60m² groß!Die Verarbeitung ist wirklich sehr gut. Der Behälter geht leicht raus/rein, Keine scharfen Kanten, wirklich hochwertig gemacht.Der Geräuschpegel ist wirklich gut (leise), aber nichts fürs Schlafzimmer.Auch die Bedienung ist einfach und die Auto-Funktion funktioniert gut.Negativ: Am Anfang stinkt er sehr stark, das verfliegt aber nach einiger Zeit.

Well, that's a turnip for the books. Way better than I had hoped, despite feeling light and flimsy.Was a bit uncertain of the dessicant type of dehumidifiers, and I've bought more than a few compressor type over last decade and a half ( actually wore two out, domestic setting as well! ) If you buy one, get the biggest you think you can move around ( or only plan to use it in one location) run it at less than full power most of time ( judge the effect) and it will work out better, even cheaper in power as well, in long run).Often the larger ones are quieter, almost silent, particularly at low power, warm the air, and don't need emptying all the time ( make sure you are happy lifting the weight of a full tank, 10 litres is heavy, from ground, wiggling it out from machine when yer getting on! But that's other machines not this one.If you don't keep house that warm, or need it in a room/ hall that's chilly, this is the one to have. Only wish tank was bigger, or I could fit a permanent drain ( I've spare hoses from other units, this one doesn't come with one but does have the option as it does have an outlet. ). So far, performance has been outstanding, in a cool environment, and it warms the air saving requirement of additional heating.Longevity? Ask me again in 5 years.
