Special Features: -NEW Audio Commentary by Film Historian Jason Pichonsky -NEW Audio Interview with Star Tony Anthony Conducted by Filmmaker Douglas Hosdale -Theatrical Trailer (Newly Mastered in 2K) -Includes Both BD3D Polarized AND Anaglyphic (Red/Cyan) 3-D Versions -Contains One Pair of Anaglyphic 3-D Glasses -5.1 Surround & Lossless 2.0 Audio -Optional English Subtitles Review: The cult classic finally on Blu Ray and in widescreen! - After many years of having to see this film in the only pan and scan 4:3 version, Treasure Of The Four Crowns has been given the restoration it has long deserved. Yes, this movie is very corny, cheesy and hokey, but that is where it's charm lives. Part of the early 80s 3D craze that producer, actor Tony Anthony helped bring about. Before this there was the 1981 3D western Comin' At Ya! that brought about a whole new way of enjoying a 3D film. Two years after being bombarded with so many films from so many studios, Treasure was released in 1983 when the craze was dying down. Clearly a nod and dare say a rip off of Raiders Of The Lost Ark, this was Tony Anthony's last film as an actor after retiring and going off to become a producer. KL studios has done a great job in restoring this film in it's original widescreen version, the first since it's original release. In 2022, it is still a fun, crazy ride to enjoy. And if you have never seen this before, prepare yourself for a real gem of campiness and crazy 3D fun! Review: The best version of the worst version of "We have Raiders at home" - The movie gets 8 stars, I love this crazy nonsense. The packaging comes with the 3d glasses and a 2d transfer. 5-stars because its the best version you're going to see though BE WARNED the source has significant blemishes they couldn't fix everywhere. It is what it is. I unironically enjoy this movie but do be warned it is ludicrous and I've got a penchant for the cheesy especially of this era. Its not Godfather... its definitely not Raiders... It *is* great stupid fun if you roll with it.

Interesting B Movie in 3D. Good Effects.
For a B movie, this one isn't bad. Interesting story and cool special effects, actually done in real life. Of course, being in 3D, there are lots of in-your-face moments that add to the excitement of the film. I found the final part of the film suspenseful and really good. Much of the effects are pyrotechnics, brilliantly accomplished and thrilling in 3D. Treasure of the Four Crowns is best watched in 3D. I enjoyed the real 3D version, but an anaglyph version (using the included red/blue lens glasses) is presented for those without a 3DTV and the Blu-Ray also has a 2D version. In 2D, it will be quite obvious where the 3D effects are used the most. So why the 3-star rating? Although the movie is quite good, I was very distracted by the debris on the camera lens throughout the film. There were big specks, sometimes right in the middle of the actor's face, and an unbelievable amount of lens dirt in many scenes. It's very bad in the 3D version and is terribly distracting during the film. Apparently, lens cleaning was not a priority, but these large debris spots had to have been seen when the movie was being shot. I have never seen anything this bad in any other movie I've seen. It's a shame that it takes so much away from the movie, in my opinion. I give the movie itself a 4-star for entertainment, effects and plot. The acting is fairly good for a B movie. This is a pretty good film and worth a watch. It's kind of like the old Saturday afternoon movies that used to be on TV in the 1970s. There are a lot of neat special effects to enjoy, even in 2D. I do recommend giving this a watch. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Sensational 3D in a nutty low-budget 80s adventure (with Morricone music!)
I'd have bought this disc for the first twenty minutes alone. It's a non-stop 3D funhouse chock full of pop-outs and extreme angles and all the cheesy genre perils you could possibly want. I can imagine kids and families going nuts for this in novelty sideshows in carnival tents - you know, back when this sort of 3D gimmickry was embraced as fun rather than sneered at. It's a truly terrible film, and the 3D is the only reason to watch it. But when you only buy it for the 3D in the first place, you'll get your money's worth because it's a stereoscopic riot. Dialogue, characters, story, casting, sound effects, visual effects are all awful. Even Tony Anthony's costumes are bad. The only effective set-piece is the Mission: Impossible type heist sequence toward the end, with some tense climbing stunts. But the filmmakers really embraced the nutty funhouse nature of extreme 3D throughout. It isn't appropriate for most types of film, but it's absolutely appropriate for films like this. Any time my attention started to wander, a shot with impressive depth and volume was never far away. Then things would start flying or poking right out of the screen, often in slow motion. When 3D TVs were first marketed, I saw demos with things constantly flying or poking out of the screen. The gee-whizz factor. But Hollywood never really delivered on that promise in the post-millennial 3D phase. Treasure of the Four Crowns did, though, in 1983. And God bless it for that. It's another sensational restoration by the 3D Film Archive.

1980's 3D Revisited
before Jaws 3D was released, there was Treasure of the Four Crowns. The star Tony Anthony made a series of 3D films that began with Coming At You and progressed to Treasure of the Four Crowns. The Blu-Ray doesn't give the process as much depth as it deserves because in the 1990s, they released a process called LCS (Line Sequential Process) that really brought dynamic realism to the films. Blu-Ray is a cheap imitation but worth keeping if you love 3-D movies.

Movie Will Change your Life!
If you are a fan of "bad movies" nothing is better than this movie. Sure it's only available on VHS, but hey, go for it. The movie was shot in 3D, however this release is the typical format which is why it's so funny. It's very clear 3D effects were new and are especially hammed up. There's many shots of perfunctory actions like handing someone a magnifying glass or a pen and it is filmed in extreme closeup. That alone makes this a laugh fest. Secondly the actor is a middle aged guy in a red leather jacket Thirdly, there are only 3 crowns in the movie, not four as in it's name-sake. Fourthly there is a brief scene at the end that is completely disconnected from the rest of the movie and is a nice punch at the end. I'd go on, but look at my other reviews, see I'm mostly trustworthy and buy it. It's essential "crap" You should most definitely drink when watching this movie.

Check out this film on You-Tube!
I saw this film in 1983 and I loved it. Some 15 minutes of this film have been posted on You-Tube and I can't believe how much I remember, even though it was 25 years ago that I saw it. I particularly remember how good the soundtrack music was. (no wonder--the composer is none other than Morricone!) I thought the music sounded like Wagner's Tannhauser Overture and whenever I hear that piece I think of the Treasure of the 4 Crowns. This is the last 3D film made that anybody can remember, until the awful Spy-Kids in 3d and the recent Beowulf. According to Wikipedia, this film was rushed into production by Cannon films (remember them?) after the success of "Comin at Ya". I remember taking the bus down Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles. Cannon films had a building at the intersection of Wilshire and La Cienega. After a while, the Cannon logo disappeared and was replaced with "Pathe Films". After a while, another name appeared on the building, so a lot of turmoil must have been taking place in the film industry during the 1980's (the era of the VHS tape and before the internet). Needless to say, I wish this film were on DVD!

3-D
This Disc is worth getting if you are interesting in 3-D. It has stand out effects from the word go ! The main actor also stars in another 3-D disc called Comin’ at Ya, which is on a par with this one. As a 3-D fan I thoroughly enjoyed this disc.

Indiana Jones - Crocodile Dundee - The Librarian
"Crocodile Dundee" of "The Librarian". De soundtrack door Ennio Morricone is één van zijn zeldzamere.

So happy to have this in my 3D Blu ray collection! I remember seeing this on a VHS when I was 13. It's never looked better! Big thanks to Kino and the 3-D Film Archive.
