One of the best spiritual books I've ever read
I read the audio version and the ebook of this simultaneously. The audio was narrated by Jim Caviezel on the Hallow app, and he was outstanding. I bought the ebook so that I could make notes and highlights. This was magnificent. That's the only word I can come up with that adequately sums it up.

This spiritual classic still speaks
This classic of Christian spirituality was for centuries the most read book in Western culture. In our increasingly secular society it no longer holds that sway. Yet, Thomas a Kempis offers timeless insights and guidance to disciples of any and every age who wish to be faithful and true followers of Jesus Christ. Before reading the text itself, I recommend reading the appendix which places the work in appropriate context for the contemporary reader and sets the stage for a fruitful, prayerful experience of reading, meditation and reflection. Christ and true Christian love are vitally needed in our world today. The one who seeks to imitate Christ in spirit and in truth will find few advisors as sound and devoted to Christ as Thomas a Kempis.

Wonderful book - All should read, try to practice and reread through life.
Everyone should have a copy of this book and carry it with them. Refer to it frequently and try to live by practice. Our country (and some of the world) are so much at odds with each other. Read this book, value it, try to live it. Jesus was perfect and without sin. He gave his life so that our sins would be forgiven. We must never forget or "put off" our religious faith. I am going to buy 5 copies of this book and give one to each of my grandchildren when the graduate from high school.

The best book I have ever read
I was intrigued by the sample of this book which I read on the Amazon.com site. I was going through some very, very difficult personal issues at the time and had a desire to draw closer to my faith. I ordered the book and could barely put it down. The words and the language used in this book are so beautiful that it is hard to put into words how wonderful the narrative is. It draws you into the world of Thomas a Kempis in a way that other translations cannot do justice to. I have ordered many additional copies and have given them to the special people in my life and those who have yet to find their faith. I highly recommend this book to those whose faith is strong as well as those who are seeking to establish a level of faith in their life.

This modern translation is a gift.
For a book originally written over 500 years ago, this modern translation is a gift. I would be lying if I said it didn’t feel like a monk from the 1400s was yelling at me about being complacent, being worldly-minded, and how my afflictions are nothing, because that’s exactly what was happening here. Nonetheless, there’s a lot of joy and contemplation to be found between the pages of this book, and some of that joy can come from conviction brought on by this book. It felt like I was reading a devotional as if it were a chapter book but it actually is a chapter book of short tidbits of spiritual advice on a wide range of topics. I needed it and I enjoyed it.*This review is based on free electronic copies provided by the publisher for the purpose of creating this review. The opinions expressed are my own.

An absolutely must read...
The short chapters are excellent. Every chapter is concept related (on a certain specific Biblical topic). You won't be disappointed.
