Stig of the Dump

A wonderful book
This review is 40 years too late but I do not think that Stig will mind. It's a timeless classic that I have read twice with a gap of 4 decades or thereabouts. The first time was a paperback and this time it was an eBook. It's still just as special as it was in the 20th century. Times have changed but this novel id still a perfect example of imagination. We will never lose the ability to imagine whilst this wonderful novel is part of any persons library. It will not change your life but it will hopefully make you smile and that's more than good enough a reason to highly recommend this treasure of literature.

Time Travel for Kids
Nobody believes that a modern day British lad who claims his best friend hails from Stone Age times, now living in the local dump.

We used to have this story on cassette tape and the whole family loved it. We're excited to have it in book form and be able to read it whenever we want. It's a great story for kids that adults can enjoy as well.

A story about a friendship
I chose this rating as it was a really good story. I would recommend it to primary age school children. This story was read to us by our Grade 4 teacher and I have just read it again. The story is about a friendship and how friends look after each other.

A lovely edition of a classic story
Our existing copy of this book is literally falling apart so I treated us to this anniversary edition. It is lovely! The title and textural markings on the cover illustration are highlighted in gold and the figures of Barney, Stig and the Puffin Books puffin are glossy. The cover is nice quality "card" folded to the inside like a paper dust cover would be and these fold out to show full size inner cover illustrations from the story in the same pale tan/orange as seen in the cover illustration but on a gentle aqua blue background. This edition includes a foreword by author Phil Earle and at the end of the book there is information about Clive King and the illustrator Edward Ardizzone, written in a child friendly way, and instructions on how to build a den.My only disappointment is that the paper used for the pages feels a bit rough which is a shame when, outwardly, there has been care taken with the appearance and presentation of this book, but as I bought it to love and read (my sons are all adults) rather than keep as a collectors piece I can live with that. Overall, a classic story that no child, or adult, should be without.

Really a good book.
Love the book, as a young lad 50 odd years ago I read this book so I've bought it for the grandchildren so they can learn about it. It's important for children to read aswell.
