Great capacity, easy to use, consistent temp, super quiet fan
I read many independent product reviews which indicated the 10 tray unit was the best value. I also read many of the 1-star reviews. Figured I would go for it. Like any electronic devices, it will more than likely work like a champ or, less likely, fail miserably from the get go. I have had the unit running non-stop for over a week now making raisins. Nothing but praise for this dehydrator. Great capacity. I was able to put something like 15 lbs of grapes in. Definitely needed the fine mesh silicone material because the shelf grate spacing is pretty big. Heating top to bottom is fairly even. The bottom 3 or 4 shelves get less warm. From left to right the units heats more on the right half due to the rotation direction of the fan. No surprise as it is a glorified hair dryer. This was no big deal as I just rotated the shelf periodically 180 degrees to get more even work done. I haven't instrumented with a thermometer to test heating consistancy but it seems to be very stable otherwise I would have severely baked grapes. So temperature control is good. The biggest surpirses were the temperature setting resolution and how dang quiet the fan is . The manual seemed to indicate that this would jump by 5 degree intervals. Nope - 1 degree resolution. The 48 hour timer is nice. You can increase the run time whenever you want, adding or subtracting time as needed. Same with the temperature. And like I previously mentioned, been running non-stop for over a week at 120F. The unit's outer case is injection molded plastic which was initially a concern but I have the unit on a metal cabinet in the garage just in case. The heat exhausted from the unit is keeping the garage pleasantly warm. I imagine operating inside would warm the house nicely. The outer case does get warmer toward the top front where the controls are which, as an electrical engineer, concerns me but it isn't so hot that you can't touch it. Shelves slide in and out easily which suprised me as the interior seems to be fabricated from a plastic as well. So far I haven't noticed any deformation of the interior as shelves continue to slide well. The door is rubs a little on the bottom because the molding wasn't trimmed quite enough. No big deal. When you first operate the unit, you would be wise to heed the instructions and run for at least 1/2 hour to burn out the incidental oils left on the fan motor and heater from the manufacturing process. It is no big deal. It does smell but folks, it is not out of the ordinary. I ran mine for over an hour at 165 until the odor dissapated enough for me to be confident I wasn't going to get vaporized oil on my grapes. Overall, so far, worth the money. I've made almost 10 lbs of raisins. Looking forward to making apple and banana chips. Fingers crossed the unit continues to operate as well.

Fantastic Food Dehydrator – Easy to Use, Lightweight, and Effective!
I couldn’t be happier with the Magic Mill Food Dehydrator Machine! This dehydrator is a game-changer for making homemade jerky, dried fruits, herbs, and more. The 10 stainless steel trays provide plenty of space to dehydrate large batches at once, making it perfect for meal prepping and healthy snacking. One of the best things about this machine is how lightweight and easy to use it is. The digital adjustable timer and temperature control make it effortless to set the perfect drying conditions for different foods. Plus, the keep warm function ensures that my food stays at the perfect temperature until I’m ready to enjoy it. The build quality is excellent, and the stainless steel trays are both durable and easy to clean. Unlike bulky dehydrators, this one is designed to be efficient and compact while still offering a large capacity. The quiet operation is another huge plus—I can let it run overnight without any noise disturbances. If you’re looking for a reliable, high-quality dehydrator that’s easy to use and lightweight, the Magic Mill Food Dehydrator is a fantastic choice. Highly recommended!

So far I'm impressed.
I purchased this dehydrator since I do a fair amount of camping and backpacking and would rather create my own meals versus buying the super expensive and overly processed commercial ones. Previously I had been using a 32yr old round plastic Bee Beyer dehydrator, but it was so slow and did not dry evenly. I love the rectangular stainless shelves in this one, it’s much easier to get the raw food on the tray and they hold a lot. I like the digital temp control and have experimented a little with various temperatures for different foods, it’s super easy to use and the drying times are pretty good. I've had great success dehydrating apples, bananas, cabbage, carrots, onions, peppers, ground beef, dried herbs and refried beans. The only drawbacks would be the space that it takes up and it could use a better recipe idea book. It is a huge machine and if left on the counter it pretty much takes up the whole area for 10ish hours. I am very happy with this purchase, and hope that it lasts as long as my old one.

Nice dehydrator
Very nice dehydrator for the he money. Fast and efficient on making jerky. It has a quiet fan. Lots of room for making lots of dehydratioded food at same time. The meat does stick to the trays which is a down fall.

Super quiet after easy fix (see photo)
Only bench tested this and found annoying rattle that gets worse as it warms up. The rear panel makes a quiet rattle that goes away with hand pressure near the fan. I guessed that an easy fix would be to apply some dynomat (rubberized mat used for this purpose in automotive sound deadening). This worked perfectly, and the subtle rattle disappeared. I’m satisfied with the amount of airflow inside the case. The fan circulates the air from the center and blows it to the outside walls. It has limited inlet vents for fresh air so the right amount of humid air can exit the top. The thermostat cycles very quickly so I can tell it’s keeping close ties on the set point. This is really going to up our preservation game. We make meals for adventures. At $12-$15 per meal, this will pay for itself in no time! The timer and temperature scrolling takes forever, and it always defaults to the highest set point. The controls need some work, but they do function.

Great dehydrator with just some minor faults.
Overall, this is a pretty great dehydrator! I started with some apple slices and then tried some banana chips (those take awhile!) and then finally today some jerky. I purchased a 5.7 lb package of eye of round already sliced to 1/4” thick and split into two different flavors of jerky; a Sweet and Spicy and a Jerky Lovers Ghost Pepper. Before putting the jerky in the dehydrator, I figured I would break out my Fieldpiece Dual Temp Thermometer and check the actual grate temp at a thermostat setting of 165 degrees. This is a professional meter (I am in the HVAC industry) and I wove the temp probe through the grate to get a temperature at the grate. The probe was calibrated in ice water to 32 degrees prior to this test. I tested at the middle grate position, the top and the bottom. Temps were very even and was let run for 20 minutes to make sure it had time to heat. As you can see in the photo, the temp was consistently 122 degrees in all positions with the temp set at 165 degrees. I am not sure where Magic Mill locates their thermostat probe, but I am guessing it may be near the heating element causing false operations. If a guy wants to make jerky, these temps can be a concern as getting beef to at least 160 degrees is a good idea to kill possibly dangerous microbes. I knocked a star off for this reason. I may look into where the probe is located and see if it could be relocated somewhere different to sense box temp more accurately. I think I will call Magic Mill first to see if they can give me any ideas. Other than that, I only have one additional gripe and that is the unit is pretty flimsy once you remove the grates from it. Obviously, the grates keep the box square when installed, but the box seems to be made mostly of plastic and doesn’t have much of a rigid frame. Again, at this price point, this is to be expected! When the unit is running, it is VERY quiet. Airflow is great due to a large diameter fan prop in the rear cabinet. The beeps ARE quite loud, but I have the dehydrator in our pantry (which is a different room) and it doesn’t bother me and I can still hear it in my living room, so for my application it works. In conclusion, this is a great dehydrator at a great price and includes 10 metal screens, 2 fruit leather shelves and one silicone screen for herbs and sticky fruits (bananas). I will probably order more of the silicone screens from Magic Mill so I can dry peppers and herbs next season. The digital display is easy to read and easy to use and the temperature range is a nice feature. I set the unit to 95 degrees, pulled out the screens and placed my stainless mixing bowl unit with some bread dough to proof and in an hour, the dough had more than doubled in size, so another great feature! The recipe book includes some directions about culturing yogurt in the machine as well and is a nice mention, as I never thought of using the Magic Mill in that fashion. I will update this review if I find out anything about the temperature accuracy and also when the jerky currently in the machine is done. UPDATE: Jerky turned out pretty great! Had it at 165 and ran for about 5 hours. So much easier and faster than the old round stacking style I had with no fan! Thumbs WAY up! 👍🏻

Great Machine
I really do like this unit. Basic references for dehydrating most all foods including making jerky which I've yet to try. If you love dehydrated storage, grab it. Quiet, Worth the money, Looks great, full flow and the items seem to maintain their flavor.
