I’ve been using this product the last 20 years. When it first came out the paste was thick and the hold was strong. Back in the 2000’s I would sort of spike my hair up with this and it would hold em up just fine. Today, the paste is creamier, lighter and thinner. No shot at holding up spikes anymore. But that’s fine with me cause those bad boy days of spiky hair is thankfully over. I just comb it over with a part now. And because Surf Hair is lighter and creamier now, I can comb it through my hair. Before, that would be difficult. So now, I mix it with another product that has stronger hold and I’m still getting that same matte beachy texture with the hold I want. Scent has always been good, light and citrusy.

Great for pixie cuts. Delivery was fast, the size was as advertise and works very well for my short pixie haircut. Not too greasy, holds well and the smell is to die for. Definitely putting this on repeat order. Great value and does its job well.

I've been buying this product on and off over the past 17+ years from when I was a middle schooler. I trust it with my hair like a best friend that you only speak to every so often but you know you can depend on them for anything! I know when I see this hair paste I'm getting the same hold every time. And it's strong enough to style throughout the day, light enough that it leaves my hair looking freshly washed & dried all day. Clean and calm, & touchable. I've used many other products in my hair over the years but this one I know I can always come back to for a trusted hold from a trusted brand that keeps my hair healthy.

I had to buy this, because the mess maker version of their power putty apparently is no longer sold. I preferred the other, but for my short hair, there's probably not too much difference. It washes off my hands easily, a little goes a long way, and it doesn't have a funny smell. It doesn't leave my hair crispy or matted. It's basically still soft. Then again, I'm not really trying to get surfer hair, whatever that is! I don't know what quantity someone else would use, but I use very little. I put a dab on my palm, rub my hands together, add a bit of water, rub again, and then apply to my hair.

Never thought this 80 y.o. lady would be going for "surfer" hair, but my beautician recommended a product of this nature. I am able to style my medium short hair without curlers or blow drying. I just shampoo and towel dry as usual, then comb through a light spray-in conditioner followed by a little more towel drying. Then, using my fingers only, I do an initial styling. As I let my hair air dry, I do finger styling every now and then to lift and separate. When my hair is completely or almost dry, I put a dab of Surfer Hair into my palm and then rub my hands together to soften and disperse the product around my palms and fingers, Then its time to do the final hair styling by finger combing the Surfer product through my hair. Its better to work with small amounts and do a second application if more product is needed rather than use too much. Your experience will be your guide. Surf's Up! p.s. I bought this to style my toddler son's hair for special occasions. It seems to work well for a short time but he easily knocks his hairstyle out through regular toddler play, which is fine. I'd rather have a gentle product like this on him rather than something that will make is hair really harden up, which feels less natural to me. It isn't very greasy, and styles well, other than again not keeping thre style in place, which I don't mind. Although it would be great to have nicely styled hair on my 2.5 year old son, I also realize that's pretty much asking tbr impossible for a toddler. It works great for the short time of getting a few family photos or the beginning of a holiday party, etc. Also, if it gets messed up it is easy to re-style due to it's consistency.

I recently got a pixie cut and wanted to try a matte hair pomade. Upon opening the container I was hit in the face with a huge amount of fragrance. Like, 'your mom who can't smell well put on perfume' amount of fragrance. Would probably be nice if subtle, but way stronger than necessary IMO. I felt like I had to use a fair amount of product to get the hold and style I wanted to achieve, but for the price not bad. Slightly sticky when applying but easily applied, dries soft and matte, and seems to hold well. Just a few hours after applying my eyes were red and watery though. Despite a shower that evening and following morning, and allergy pill both days, it took 2 days before I was back to normal. Overall, the actual hair results were decent but obviously the overwhelming smell and allergic reaction make this an automatic no for me. Luckily I ordered Pacinos at the same time just to have a second option, and so far that's been working very well for me. Sadly this product just isn't right for me, but I'm sure it's a decent option for some.

I've been using this product for years to give a bit of control as I style my hair and to tamp down some of the frizz. A small even less than dime-size dollop is sufficient for a day's worth of control. Used on dry hair, the product will keep hair loosely in place and give the sort of texture you'd expect when coming out of a swim in the ocean and letting your hair air dry. It's casual and not a high level of control, but leaves the impression of an intentional styling. With the hair damp or wet, the control is much higher and the effect much more lasting. It won't leave you with the wet look of hair gel, but will give a more sleek appearance and will hold a part and show lines from a comb. Overall, this is a versatile, easy to use product that you can apply once and know that you won't have to worry about your hair for the rest of the day. The best feature, though, is how long a single canister will last. Most tubs last for a year and a half or two years of daily use, so the value is unbeatable. A

Have been using the product for last several years. On all previous occasion i had bought this in US, and was hesitant on the authenticity while ordering from Amazon in India. But I am thoroughly satisfied and can confirm that this is an original product.

I have used this for years and love it. It styles your short hair very easily and doesn't leave it sticky. Smells great too and this 3.4 ounce jar lasts a long time as you need very little. Just a small bit of it in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, scrunch it on your hair and you're ready to go.
