Very pleased with this spray. Definitely working for deterring horse flies during woodland walks in the rural Welsh countryside. I have had zero bites since using this spray, prior to using the spray I would get at least a dozen bites on the same walk. Excellent value for money, a little goes a long way, clear liquid spray which rubs in well, dries instantly, no odour. I would recommend

I'm someone who mosquitoes absolutely love! It's been very problematic on holidays to hot climates, including once having to have steroid treatment for bites I got in Florida. I've been using DEET-containing repellents for a while but have never been very keen on it because of the smell and finding it quite greasy to use - plus it's never been that successful for me. This time I was going to be in the southern US for 6 weeks so decided to do some research on potentially better solutions. Having read quite a bit about repellents this led me to giving Autan a try. It has picaridin (20%) as the active ingredient rather than DEET. And having tried it I have to say I am hugely impressed with the results. In 6 weeks of using a picaridin repellent every day I got a grand total of only three bites on the entire trip. And that's spending time in TX, TN and GA in September/October. What was very insightful was that my wife, who the mosquitoes usually ignore and therefore she doesn't bother with repellent, managed to pick up quite a number of bites in the early days of our trip whereas I was completely bite-free. That encouraged her to start using it too with the same positive effect, with far fewer bites for the rest of the trip. I found the Autan spray to be easy to apply - it has a pleasant smell, was absorbed quickly and was not greasy. I think it is recommended to reapply every 8 hours, but to be honest it was very rare that I reapplied it and it was effective all day. One bottle lasted us around 3 weeks of everyday use. Alas, when we ran out we couldn't easy find it in the US but bought another S.C. Johnson product called OFF! (another with 20% picaridin) as an alternative and it was just as effective. As a couple of extra tips to anyone else mosquito-affected like me - I didn't wear any aftershave for the entire trip just to avoid scents that any bitey-things might find attractive. Also, I took an over-the-counter antihistamine (cetirizine hydrochloride) every day to minimise the reaction to any bites I did get. Obviously do your own research/get medical advice to make sure this is ok for you. So there you have it - sorry for the long review - but this has been a game-changer for me. None of the drawbacks of DEET (smell, greasiness, can damage plastics) and something that is pleasant smelling and gave me a lot of peace of mind when going out. Give it a try - I hope you get the same results!

I take this on holiday along with the can version. Using this plus tie anti mosquito bracelets is definitely a huge improvement on other sprays in the market. I come home with less than 5 bites compared to being bitten all over. I'd recommend still using bracelets, spray yourself more often than you think no matter the time of day. Couple/alternate with a deet spray in the evenings or in mosquito heavy areas for the ultimate protection. You have to accept that it is not going to work 100%, you'll miss an area, forget to top up or encounter the odd mosquito which just doesn't seem to care. I wouldn't go on holiday without it now!

I'm a dog walker and horse fly bites are an issue for me during the summer. This spray stops any insect coming close and also deters ticks biting, which is a great bonus. Once sprayed on it disappears and leaves no residue or smell. No deet either.

I have mixed views on this, I bought three bottles of this having tested the first. It is good value. I photograph insects which means I am putting myself at risk of bites so rely on a spray. I still have insects land on me and fly in close proximity, so it does not seem to deter them much. But I don't seem to get bit as much. You have to reapply every couple of hours to keep it effective.

Which recommended, have not been bitten while wearing. Sprays well, easy to use. Only time I was bitten forget to spray myself😕

J'utilise ce produit depuis plusieurs années car mon lieu de vie est envahi par les moustiques tigres. Pour ne rien arrangé, j'attire tous les moustiques comme un aimant. Je ne peux donc pas vivre sans ce type de produit. A l'origine, j'ai utilisé des produits à base de DEET, Insect Ecran par exemple mais il y en a d'autres. Le DEET est très efficace mais son odeur est très désagréable. Le produit Autan est à base d'icaridine, qui n'a pas cette odeur désagréable. Après ces années, je suis sûr à 100 % que l'icaridine est aussi efficace que le DEET. Je suis moins catégorique sur la durée de protection car c'est difficile à évaluer. Il faudrait pouvoir être immergé dans une zone pleine de moustiques en continu. Quoi qu'il en soit, la protection dure plusieurs heures. Le produit est parfumé, ce n'est pas du Channel n°5 mais c'est 1000 fois préférable à l'odeur du DEET. A vous de choisir.

Je m’en sers depuis quasiment une semaine et je recommande vivement ce produit. Très efficace, aucune piqure de moustiques depuis. Odeur de parfum un peu forte mais ça passe, sèche vite et ne colle pas. Le baume de la même marque pour apaiser les piqûres est très bien aussi !
