Astonishing
Although every story of Holocaust survival is an amazing story, this one is truly astonishing, of a group of Jews evading the Nazis by hiding in the sewer under a city. Truly incredible story.

An interesting read
It wasn’t until I started to read this book that I realised it is the same story as the movie “In Darkness”. I suppose if I’d not seen the film I may have given it 4 stars but as I knew the story I tended to skip bits.

Moving
As I started reading this book, not knowing it was the story from the movie In Darkness, I was having images from the movie in my mind while reading. I actually dug the movie out and watched it again. I enjoyed the book and I love the movie as well. Anyone who doesn't know the story should definitely check it out.

Well written
This is the 3rd time I have read this story. The previous 2 occasions the book was called The Girl In The Green Jumper.

Be Thankful for life....stop complaining....
I would recommend that this book be compulsory reading in every school to impress on children growing up in relative freedom and luxury to never, ever take ANYTHING for granted, whether it be a drink of water to the workings of a healthy body! They should be taught by reading it to be utterly grateful for every morsel of food , clothing and, yes, even the sunshine on their face. The survival of these people in the sewers defies words. It was written in such a way that one could identify with each of the characters and empathise with their unbelievable ordeal. One of the best books I have ever read
