Christopher's Original Formulas Birth-Prep Capsules 100 ct - Herbal Blend for Expectant Mothers - Supports Natural Preparation for Childbirth

I started taking this around week 34 as recommended by my midwife, and it definitely helped me during my labor.

I started using this at 36 weeks pregnant while being monitored by my midwife. I took one pill everyday the first week and increased by one pill each week until delivery. This in combination with other exercises and supplements helped my delivery go by SO FAST! & I mean FAST. Baby was almost born in the car kind of fast!

It’s always hard to say if this is what made the difference because there are so many things that contribute, but I took this and my labor was less than 5 hours. I will be purchasing again for future pregnancies.

I don’t know what worked, because I was doing several things. But had a smooth relatively quick birth. Didn’t feel bad or had any side effects

Used this product for my 4th labor. All my labors have been home births including this one. I always go past 40 weeks and always have 16 to 38 hour labors. I used this for my last labor. I started having irregular contractions everyday starting at 40 weeks for 5 days last most of day and night. Midwife said it was prodromal labor. Never had this with other labors. Read a prior review that this product can cause that, they were right. Finally went into labor at 40w 5d. Started labor at 7pm with regular contractions not painful. Started to get a bit painful at midnight. Was 7cm dilated at 2 am with tolerable contractions. Gave birth at 6 am. The last 2 hours of labor were excruciating contractions. But most of the labor was great tolerable. I am usually in excruciating labor for way way longer with my prior labors. I will definitely use this again if I decide to have any more kids.

I normally labor 24 plus hours. This cut it down to 12. Delivery was quicker and easier.

I am going to update this as I progress. I am 39 weeks and 2 days with my 5th baby. I've been taking Birth Prep since week 34, as my midwife suggested. I have had challenging and long labors with my last two babies. I am hoping for an easier one with baby 5.I will say these pills are making me feel awful. I hope they work during labor and this baby comes out easy. I am on my second bottle and after taking the pills an hour later I have intense menstral like cramping and strong nausea that lasts for several hours. It's miserable. I've never experienced this before and it happens like clock work after I take my pills. I'm taking two in the morning and two at night. This has not happened until the last two weeks. I hope it's shaving time off. I will update after I give birth to let you know how my labor went!!Ok *UPDATE*These pills are amazing and I'm so glad I took them even though they made me feel awful for weeks!!! It helps you SO MUCH in labor. I will say they don't make you pop early but they help your cervix be ready and more importantly they help TONE YOUR UTERUS! I just gave birth at 42 weeks. This is my 5th baby, homebirth/natural birth. This is the first baby I took these with after having 63, 24 hour long miserable labors. With this one I had to drink Caster oil which I never have done before, I've never done any interventions before but I got diagnosed with late on set polyhydramminos. At 42 weeks my fluid levels were dangerously high and we needed to get he baby out quickly. I did not want to be risked out of care and Homebirth. These pills made my contractions totally bearable until the end. It made my cervix soft and ready and my uterus was so strong and toned I was able to work with my contractions in a way I never have been able to before! It was incredible how ready my body was for birth and I truly believe that's what these pills do, and in turn when your labor starts everything is ready to go, primed and toned! The weeks of cramping I personally experienced was doing a good work at exercising my body for labor. It was worth that discomfort!!! I was at a high risk for post partum hemorrhage because of my condition and I'm glad I'd been taking these pills to strengthen my uterus and birthing everything! After having 4 difficult labors with all my other children, this one was a dream. It was so different am manageable!!! I am so thankful I took these and if I ever have any more kids I will take these every time!!!

I wanted to adore this product, but I just found out (from the company) that it is too contaminated by lead for me to take the original therapeutic dose to prepare for labor. Um...seriously??! Yikes! (Lead is in some herbs but should be properly filtered out by a reputable company selling to pregnant mommies).Here is the deal: The Dr. Christopher's Birth Prep website says take up to 6 pills per day. The photo on Amazon says to take up to 4 pills per day. The bottle they sent me says "2 capsules daily is the maximum dosage." So I called the company to ask what dosage is appropriate for preparing for birth. They stated that as herbs are often contaminated by lead from the soil, they have to regularly test them for safety. This last Lot was contaminated by lead so much that only 2 pills per day are allowed. The phone representative stated that I would "still get some benefit though from the herbs." That is sweet, but I'm not looking for "some benefit", I purchased it so that I could get the FULL therapeutic benefit to reduce my risk of bleeding, make contractions more effective, and help tone my uterus. Her only other suggestion was to contact every single seller on Amazon to see if anyone had an "old" but not expired bottle of Birth-Prep to get the maximum dosage available. (So I'll get on that while I homeschool my other 6 children, cook meals, and keep my house immaculate....right? Um..not so much.) Customer service....not so cool.I'm a former labor and delivery nurse. I'm pregnant with our 7th baby. I know my risks for bleeding, and I want to do everything I naturally can to have the best birth possible. I'm really disappointed by this company, and can't say that I'll use them for anything again. The minimum dose had really helped make my Braxton-Hicks contractions more tolerable and I was really looking forward to using their product until delivery. Dr. Chris, you are breaking my heart here!Luckily, Amazon stepped in to save the day. They refunded my money and I'll use it to buy a different herbal birth prep formula. If I ever get a tattoo, I think it will have to say, "I heart Amazon 4ever", cause they made this weepy pregnant mama's day. ;o)
