Great for making candles
I bought this pitcher to (no surprise) use for melting wax to make candles. I usually melt 1 or 2 lb of wax at a time, but I've done as little as 8 oz, and you can definitely melt a little more, though maybe not a full 4 lb unless it's all melted (just guessing; I haven't tried to put in 4 lb of wax chips myself). It's aluminum, so it's lightweight, but the handle is *not* aluminum, which makes it cool and safe to touch even when the wax is being heated. The spout also makes pouring into containers or molds very easy, though sometimes I get a bit of wax dripping over the side, because the metal cools very easily, the very last bit of wax usually seems to get solidified on the inside of the pitcher before it can pour out. To clean, I fill the pitcher 1/2 or more full with water, then use a large squirt of dish soap and heat it until the wax residue melts and dissolves, paying particular attention to the spout area. I usually also wipe down the outside, but in general, it's very easy. The pitcher seems reasonably well constructed, though I've only had it for a few months now. I plan to keep using it for a while and don't see any signs of how it wouldn't last; if I had to guess at the first point of failure, maybe it would be the handle falling off. But it's definitely OK now.PS - For those who care, Candlescience sells this item on their website as well for a bit less than it is on Amazon as of the time of my writing. If you're ordering other things from them on their site anyway, it may be cheaper, even including the cost of shipping. However, if you are not and have Amazon Prime (or super saver), it's better from Amazon. They also claim on their website that it is now made in the US, whereas the pitcher I got from Amazon several months ago said "made in China." I'm assuming they will all be US-made, as Candlescience's site said, as the old inventory is run out of (or if you order directly from them).

Perfect for pouring wax!!
For months I have been spilling wax every time I poured, but then I got this and it is perfect. Pours directly into my candle jars without spilling a drop or dripping down the side. Totally worth it!

Works great for melting and pouring wax
Just what I needed. For those who need to light fireplaces/woodstoves/campfires: Stuff your old egg cartons with drier-lint. or saw dust. Then melt candle/canning wax, pour into egg carton, let dry, separate cells, put in quart zip lock bags, and viola- fool-proof fire-starter. This is the perfect wax melter when placed in a larger container with water ala double-boiler. Look for big candles at dollar stores as that is much cheaper than buying canning wax.Only improvement could be if it had an integral, double-wall container to hold the boiling water instead of having to use a separate pan, but it works great.

Makes my life easier!
I'm not sure why it took me so long to buy one of these!! I use it now for making melt and pour soap, candles, and lip balms. I emailed the maker of this pitcher, asking if it's safe to place directly on a gas burner (on the flame). So, if anyone wants to know...their response was "yes," but to keep the heat LOW, and melt slowly. I do not know about electric burners, but I know that you can definitely use the double boiler method on any type of stove by placing the pitcher into a pot of boiling water. This is easy to clean by wiping it out with a paper towel, as long as you do it while the residual concoction is still liquid. If you let it solidify, it will be difficult to clean. However, if this happens, just re-melt the contents, then pour liquid into the trash and wipe the pitcher clean. *Do NOT pour anything with wax into your sink!

A must have!
Candle making gets quite messy when you are trying it for the first time with empty containers saved from other candles, and other supplies. I didn't think I would need this, but I ordered it just in case. I'm glad I did, because when the wax gets hot, it boils quick and you have to take it off the heat quickly or it will spatter - which this product totally prevents. No wax on stove - nice pour indentation making it almost spillproof. Simple but necessary. Gotta have it if you want to avoid getting burned, damaging surroundings, or hurting others. Very light weight making it fast to cool off too..which is very nice. Must have, and worth the money for sure.

amazing!!
this is really sturdy! this was the cheapest wax pitcher i could find on amazon and i was pleasantly surprised at the quality. the handle isn’t loose, which i’ve noticed on others, this is a good thickness, and the hanfdle doesn’t get burning hot. overall i would recommend this as much as i could.

Worth the $10 for candle making
I was making candels for the first time and wasn't sure if I really need to buy this even though it was recommended when I was purchasing soy wax and wicks. I am so glad I did. It really made a difference. At first I thought it would be worth the extra $10 just so I didn't have to get any of my pots waxy. The pouring spout makes it really easy to pour the wax into jars without dripping and making a mess. Not only does the pouring spout make it worth it but wax does not stick to the inside so there is no clean up what so ever. It has a coating inside that the wax just does not stick to so once you poured the last of the wax into the candel you are making the inside is completely clean and wax free.

Excellent size but not heavy enough
This candle wax pitcher is a great size if you’re making multiple and/or big candles. It is however, not very heavy. If you’re making just a few candles or smaller ones, the pitcher doesn’t sit in a pot well since it wants to float. Other than that, the size is great and it works well. Easy to handle too.
