The cheapest major home improvement you'll ever make.
Labeled as a "doorbell", we use this as a driveway alarm so we don't get surprised any more. It has great distance. Very sensitive, it picks up dust clouds, drifting snow, cats... but hey, we don't miss ANY action in our great big long driveway! Our parents liked it so much (they're thrilled to have excited grandkids running to the door to meet them before they're halfway up the drive) that we got them each an alarm for Christmas. The volume goes from hear-it-through-the-whole-house-LOUD (the setting my mom likes), to low (which we like) to silent with lights only. I have to say that the "musics" are the weak point here. You get 35 (?) choices of tinny, off-key, weird, or (for us) sounds-too-much-like-our-doorbell songs and ding-dongs. We settled on a song that isn't unbearably tinny or off-key, but is a little longer than I would prefer. You also have to reset it all if the power goes out. The negatives aren't enough to outweigh the positives though. We REALLY like our alarm.

... only about 50' from the receiver and it works fine. We use it on our from porch steps ...
Ours is placed only about 50' from the receiver and it works fine. We use it on our from porch steps to let us know when someone is on the porch. Only drawback is they are very sensitive to movement. Tree branches moving, leaves blowing, shadows, all these can set it off. I have covered most of the sensor, except the portion "seeing" across our steps, with tape to limit what it "sees". This is to cut down on false alarms.UPDATE: Malfunctions when it rains and now won't stop ringing. Don't buy.

Love it
Great product excellent range as compared to others. Has many applications and uses. I use one as a front door alert for Amazon deliveries, I use another one to detect racoons in the side yard. I use another to scare away animals with the addition of a battery operated USB power supply for the receiver to be located outdoors. I use another for a mail box alarm. I keep purchasing them for different applications. So far so good very reliable product with many applications, just use your imagination

Great Alert Alarm
I bought this unit not knowing it wasn't waterproof so ended up using it in the house by my door as it wouldn't work through my double pained windows. I really wanted a outside unit for both of my doors. I tried a tip from another reviewer of putting it in a plastic bag to make it waterproof outside and it\ worked great. Since I really wanted two units I did order a set of two at a later date after trying this one out. They are sensitive so I do get a few false alarms but well worth the money.

Bought two, one for the driveway and one for in front of the house. They are working just great. I did put them in a plastic ziplock to keep them dry and out of the weather.

This company doesn't ignore you. Will answer you within a day.
I've only had this for a couple days. I'm using it in the house. I see these bad reviews, I've haven't had any of these problems. Mine only goes off when something crosses its path. The alarm is nice and loud so you can hear it in other rooms.I wrote the company about a concern I had and they returned the email within 12 hours. That was great. So I'm giving this company 5 stars because the alarm is working great so far and the company is really good about customers concerns.I will update in the future.

Works great at alerting the office when someone is up front
We got this for our office- we have an entryway where people walk up the stairs and if one of us isn't sitting out front it's hard to know if someone is up here. We set the sensor on the stairs (we didn't bother mounting it, works just fine to sit there) and don't have it plugged in, we are finding it does just fine with batteries. There are a ton of different options for ring tones it can make, which seems silly, but I suppose in another application this would be a good thing. Definitely worth the money. One thing I have noticed is that it doesn't always go off- almost always, but we've had a few people sneak past it somehow.

I wish it could have lasted
Initially this worked really well. Easy to install. I created a weather protected area for the receiver. It was mounted in a tin box, sheltered from direct sun and rain. One day, I replaced the batteries, and it still didnt work. I fear that the AZ heat may have compromised the unit. So over all this lasted a couple of years, but wish it would have lasted longer.
