It is unclear from the picture--is one of the dolls African American?

Hi Mel! Yes, we want everyone to be included in the fun!

Can these dolls mix and match with the princess & horse set?

Hello, The dolls are in different poses, so clothing from other sets will not fit, but the accessories should be interchangeable from set to set. Feel free to share away!

Has anyone had difficulty opening the box after use?

I did not have trouble opening this box. My grandkids love playing with this toy.

The dog and cats collection come with a small little pieces some are bowls what are the other ones?

I ordered those for my grandchildren who live in another state, but I believe the other options were articles of clothing, socks and shoes, etc.
