I switched to this organic unsmoked mate years ago and I love it. Over the years I have heard unsmoked is healthier than smoked, and since I drink it every single day I made this change. There is just something about the taste of smokey flavor that I will always love, but this one is an absolute best alternative. It is good quality, great taste and I like the size and quantity!

Huge bag and super value! I have not tried it yet. I will update it with pics when I try it. It is organic though and came super fast. I am just trying it because I really like Yerba mate but want to not have the white sugar. This way I can add my own sweetener and elderberry etc like in the blue euphoria Yerba mate. I really like those if I’m getting a sore throat or flu at all. Probably more the elderberry than the Yerba but you never know. I also wanted to make this to keep in my fridge like an ice tea because it is the main ingredient in termo fx ( People’s Chemist) for weight loss.

Yeah, I know. Maybe I should have already intuited how to brew this product, but I didn’t. I would always, always appreciate simple use instructions on any product container. Stopping to Google it just takes up time. And this brand website only indicates gourd usage, which was totally foreign to me. I love learning new things, so it’s not that I’m stuck in my ways, but there was that issue of weeding through a few sites just to be sure I was brewing my cuppa correctly. That tidbit aside, this product brews up well and I’m pleasantly, happily now a fan of Yerba mate. There was very little dust or debris and the flavor, (even though I was warned from several websites that boiling water would make it taste bitter), was delightful. I didn’t notice any overt astringency. I loved it with lemon and 1 tsp of honey. I used a tablespoon of dry tea and, yes, I imagine my 12 oz of water was near to boiling. I used a stainless steel mesh basket to steep the leaves, sticks and stems in. I’m sure I don’t know what I’m missing, in not brewing it in the traditional way, but I found this product overall to be a very lovely additional in my rotation of afternoon cuppas. I’m a fan.

This is a large 2.2 lb bag, so the value for the price is excellent and it lasts a long time if you drink mate regularly. The flavor is clean and smooth, and being unsmoked gives it a fresher taste than many traditional smoked mates. Yerba mate provides steady natural energy and many people prefer it over coffee because it feels smoother without the same crash. One tip: don’t use boiling water. Very hot water makes mate taste overly bitter. Brewing with slightly cooler water brings out a much better flavor. It’s also versatile—you can drink it hot, or prepare it cold with ice, lemon, and mint for a refreshing summer drink. Overall the taste is great and the value is excellent. A few avid mate drinkers who tried it also liked it and plan to buy it. I’ll definitely purchase it again.

As a Brazilian gaucha, I’m very unhappy with this yerba mate. I’ve ordered it specifically because I saw it was organic and the original production zone was my state in Brazil. However, once I opened the package I realized it was the Argentinian mill, not brazilian. Nothing wrong with that, I like Argentinian style yerba if I’m having Argentinian mate with my AR hermanos. But see, southern Brazilians do a different thing with the yerba in the cuia (the traditional drinking cup). With this mill it’s really hard to make the little side mount that we do for our type of brew. Not a good fit for Brazilian mate drinkers. Also, I thought this yerba was too dry, dusty, didn’t have a fresh green color like I’m used too, and therefore, didn’t taste as good. The greeness looked faded, like they would order it in bulk and don’t keep it in the best storage/transport conditions in order to keep it fresh. It tasted like old mate that you open once and then leave it in your pantry for ages. I gave it a chance with this one, but the conclusion is: the best package is still air-tight vaccum sealed. So, unfortunatelly I’ll be throwing this whole batch in the trash and not order it ever again. Maybe other people will be happy with it, but it didn’t work for me.

This yerba mate tasted great. It was not overbearing in terms of caffeine strength, and it did not leave me jittery, as coffee sometimes does. I gave this a three-star rating because while the tea itself was good, the package was shipped with a very obvious, approximately 1-inch cut in the bag. Quite a bit of this yerba mate leaked out of the bag and got all over other products that were also shipped in the same box. That was extremely irritating, as there is no possible way that whoever packed this yerba mate did not know there was a gash in the bag. I do not know if I will buy this brand again.
