The male end does unscrew but it is intended to connect to the compressor. The female end would be used for an adapter to air tires.

Is there enough rubber in this hose to keep it flexible in the cold temps?

Yes. Stays very flexible in cold weather.

Can you power a framing nail gun with this hose?

Sure, more about if your compressor keeps up with demand. Compressor should have 120 or 135 psi usually for a framer but make sure about that from the manufacturer of the gun.

Home Depot has a two piece brass set for the repair. You'll have to cut off Estwing metal hose end where it leaks. The HD two piece compresses onto the now bare end of Estwing rubber hose.
