Sturdy clamps.
These are incredibly sturdy clamps. When they say they give 100s-1000s of pounds of clamping pressure, I believe it. I do not need that often, but having a few around the workshop is a good idea.

Quick, powerful and versitile
Bessey lever clamps are wonderful. They will do things other clamps are not built to do. They are extremely powerful, think a thousand pounds of force, and they are extremely fast, say, one second or less. Quickly on; quickly off. Other clamps that are advertised as rapid action will seem weak and flimsy by comparison. With a couple of these lever clamps, one can flatten a stack of twisted two-by stock into a tightly glued laminate post or beam. I have heard that they are used in shipbuilding. Carvers will find them useful because the workpiece can be quickly repositioned and held securely against knife and chisel work. Their speed and power make them useful standing in for a second person, if you have to work alone. I have built most of my house by myself, something unthinkable without these clamps to secure the other end of the board, to hold up a sheet of plywood against a stud "to see how it looks," or to hold down the jig or straightedge for routing and sawing. Two points of caution are: first, the range of travel is very small, so squashing planks together that are bowed more than a half inch or so will require alternating two of these clamps. The second caution is to work carefully until you get to know them, because they can deliver a nasty pinch. On the other hand, both of these cautions are connected to their incredible mechanical advantage (As usual, with strength comes responsibility.) I bought my four Bessey lever clamps almost twenty years ago, stamped "West Germany." They have lasted well, and have been good friends, enabling work that other tools could not accomplish.
