It was an essay about her dog called "Ninety-Nine" that first drew me to the writing of Bonnie Garmus. All I could find was *Lessons in Chemistry*, and I bought it because one can't give up on someone who names her dog Ninety-Nine. *Lessons in Chemistry* is a gem of a novel. It is clever, complex, dense and detailed in its story-line, very funny, and manages to depict every single one of its characters with a shining clarity. Including the dog, this time named Six-Thirty. Please don't miss it!

Con esta historia, lloré, reí, me indigné...sacudió todas, o casi, mis emociones. Qué buen libro y qué buenos personajes. Hasta el perro consigue engancharte. Además de su protagonista que te roba el corazón.

The delivery was as expected (took around a week, but it was the date that was stated and with no delay).The book is amazing. I am also a chemist and row, so I understood the academic world and rowing descriptions that I absolutely loved. But I think anyone can enjoy this book and learn about what life in academia was like and despite the progress in recent years, it still feels like to some extent.Absolutely recommend this book!

I loved this book so much. It's clever, it's funny, the characters are great. There's even a dog who's very special.I do want to give a trigger warning, however, as I wish I'd been warned. There's a SA early on and quite out-of-the-blue, and it upset me dreadfully. There's only the one, however, even though there is an incredible lot of discrimination against women, but that part is rather the point of the book, so in that sense it's fine. It was one of my favorite books of last year, when I read a copy borrowed from the Library, which is why I then went and bought my own copy.
