Even the second half of the book, dedicated entirely to simply summaries of key characteristics of the most common birds of America, felt valuable but a breeze to read through. It give you a sense of what features/patterns of recognition are most comment when trying to single out a bird species from a set of similar-looking characters. The first half of the book also had a great introduction to how this works in abstract, as well as a good introduction to birding culture and various insider terms and concepts.s Review: Beautiful book - This is a very nice book. Fantastic, Approachable Introduction
I purchased this for a vacation because I wanted to pick up birdwatching. I'd read the book at my AirBnB and then apply what I learned when I was out hiking. I found this to be a fantastic resource at just the right level of detail.
