Can these be put in sea water?

Unfortunately not. This item is recommended for domestic fresh water pools only.

I got mine put new batteries in it , won’t turn on, what could be the problem?

I had a similar problem. Only the squirter worked. I ordered a new one and returned the defective one. The new one arrived and everything works fine. If left in the sun without use you will need to let it cool down sometimes as the batteries overheat
