The Tudor Bride

Alors si on est une passionnée des vêtements du Moyen Age, c'est le roman parfait; sinon, on subit des lignes et des lignes et encore plus de lignes sur l'habillage de la reine et franchement, ça se fait au détriment de l'histoire et on n'est pas surpris de s'endormir dessus. On apprend fort peu de choses intéressantes sur l'Angleterre du temps de Henry V, mais sur la cavalcade menant au couronnement de la reine, là, il y a des détails à n'en plus finir. C'est dommage de gâcher un sujet qui aurait pu être si passionnant.

This book picks up where The Agincourt Bride finishes. Catherine of Valois is now Queen of England and waiting to be crowned. She is also eager to produce an heir to the throne.I am a HUGE fan of historical fiction. Catherine's story is told from the point of view of her ex-nursemaid Mette. Catherine at times is unpredictable resorting back to childish ways if she appears not to get her own way.As a historical work of fiction, it is beautifully written. Immersing the reader into a sumptuous world before the Wars of The Roses. In a court full of intrigue and plotting. Not forgetting of course the clandestine romance between Owain Tudor and the Dowager Queen. Historical buffs will know that their grandson became Henry VII of England.I LOVED it

The Tudor Bride is the sequel to The Agincourt Bride, and focuses on Queen Catherine's life in England, following her marriage to Henry V in France. Soon after giving birth to a son, later Henry VI, her husband died an untimely death and Katherine was left as Queen dowager at the age of 21. After quite a number of years, she secretly married one of her late husband's archers: Owen Tudor and it was through the eldest son of that marriage, Edmund, later Earl of Richmond, that the Tudor dynasty was born, when he fathered a son who became Henry VII, The Tudor Bride is a dramatised version of events and I found it a real page turner. If you have an interest in this period of history, you'll enjoy it too.

Animating a woman who lived so long ago and adding the all important small details of life in her time, this is a good read.

This was given as a presant to an elder lady freind. She says that is is as good as the one book before this that is by the same auther. she recommends it to anyone who likes this lady writer.
