Actively Removes Air, Not Just Seals It — A Smarter Approach to Coffee Storage
Actively Removes Air, Not Just Seals It — A Smarter Approach to Coffee Storage The Planetary Design Airscape Stainless Steel Coffee Container is a well-engineered storage solution that goes beyond standard airtight canisters. Its key differentiator is the inner plunger lid, which actively displaces air from the chamber rather than just sealing it—reducing oxygen exposure, which is critical for preserving coffee freshness and limiting oxidation. The stainless steel construction provides excellent durability and light-blocking properties, both important for maintaining flavour integrity over time. The two-way lid system (inner vacuum-style plunger plus outer seal) creates a stable internal environment, particularly useful for whole beans stored over several days. Key Details: • Odour Resistance: Non-porous stainless steel prevents flavour or odour retention, even with regular use. • Durability: Rigid, dent-resistant body with high-quality seals designed for repeated daily operation. • Lid Closure: Dual-lid system—inner plunger actively removes air; outer lid provides a secure, airtight seal. • Size: Available in multiple capacities (commonly 250g–1kg), suitable for different consumption patterns. • Material: Food-grade stainless steel with BPA-free plastic components in the lid mechanism. • Weight: Substantial enough to feel stable and premium, without being cumbersome in everyday use. In use, the mechanism is smooth and repeatable, with a clear audible indication when excess air has been expelled. Build quality is high, with tight tolerances and no noticeable flex in the components. Overall, it’s a robust, technically sound solution for anyone looking to optimise coffee storage and extend peak flavour retention.

Amazing container
Finding myself writing a review for a food storage container seemed ridiculous, but this genuinely is a fantastic product. The functionality is very good, the design is top and most importantly, my coffee beans stay as fresh as possible for longer. The satisfying sound when you close the inner lid and you then get a waft of coffee beans as the air is pushed out from the container is magic :)

Really good for keeping coffee beans fresh
I've been struggling with the bags the beans come in and rubber bands to keep them closed. Took me ages to open, extract and re-seal the bags and I almost couldnt be bothered to drink a coffee. I didn't want to spend so much money on a container as I already had bought three airtight metal containers. Problem with the airtight containers is that when you seal them, you seal in air too so it somewhat defeats the objective. They're fine when full up but as you open to use, there's always air in them. I tried all sorts of things without success and bit the bullet and bought an Airscape. It works really well and its quick and as easy as it could be to open and reseal and its always free of air inside. Reluctant as I was to buy, I now have bought another one. The Medium holds 500g of beans comfortable and the Small 250g. I now feel confident that the beans will remain fresh. Its an excellent product. Shame about the price though its probably worth the money to keep the beans well. No complaints.

They ARE pretty expensive...
...but I need to be able to keep kilo bags of coffee fresh while I use them up. How? Split them across two tins and rotate. So, are they any good? They do push all the air out and do seem to keep things fresh for the fairly short time I need them to. I got two blue ones off the back of a father's day voucher and I do recommend them. They look the part on the shelf. If you have done your research you will see certain pundits have made ambiguous remarks about them. They look good and made a nice present so I was (am) very happy with them.

Fresh coffee beans
Perfect for keeping coffee beans fresh. Bought as a gift for my partner and he's very happy with it. Good size, fits inside cupboard. Feels sturdy, lid seal is very tight so beans stay fresh and no coffee smell unless opened

Quite pricey, but does a good job and looks very stylish.
I was given a 1kg pack of ground coffee from a local roaster for Christmas, lovely coffee but there’s no way I’d get through it before it spoiled. This is quite spendy, probably cost more than the coffee! But every time I open it (and we’re now in late February) it still still smells amazing. I bought the medium size, stainless steel, and it looks very stylish. I put probably 75% of the coffee in it so there was still room to squish it down and seal, and the rest has gone in the freezer. I think to get the most air out every time, smooth out the top of the coffee grounds after you’ve spooned out your portion. Very happy with this; expensive but it does a good job!

Fresh coffee!
I use this for my ground coffee and will be purchasing another soon when I buy some beans to put through the grinder. It has that satisfying “whoosh” when you open and close it. I got one in red and this size is perfect for a 250g bag of coffee.

Attractive and robust bean cannister
I've been using this for a few months now. It does a great job keeping beans fresh and it's very easy to use. The mechanism for opening and closing the cannister is robust and works seamlessly. The color is eye catching and a fun addition to the countertop. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an attractive and effective place to safely store your beans.

Very airtight indeed. Works very well with coffee beans
Just bought three Airscape canisters to hold coffee beans and powdered products. Works like a charm, in particular with keeping the beans fresh. You just need to be careful with very fine powders (e.g. milk) when you press down as it will raise a fine cloud back as the air is extracted.

Expensive
It’s a little expensive for what it does. Got it when there was a credit card promo. Is well made but can’t prove whether vacuum works. The air does get pushed out but is the inner lid staying in place due to friction of silicon or the pressure difference?Silicon seal for top cover seems a little uneven on one side. Seems airtight although it lifts a touch when picking up container by the lid. Certainly more convenient scooping beans vs from the bag. Will have to see how it holds up with regular opening and closing.
