Works great so far for cherries
I bought this cherry pitter because my old one broke, and I wanted something that would last longer. I often eat yogurt with cherries, blueberries, and grapes, so I needed a tool that could handle frequent use. I used this pitter to pit a bunch of cherries. It was easy to use, and I liked the large cup. The recessed design helped with smaller cherries, and the splatter shield kept my clothes clean. I don't need to wear an apron anymore but I do anyway just in case. It felt sturdy and well-made compared to my old plastic pitter. It worked pretty well, but I did notice that it took a little pressure to get the pits out sometimes. Overall, I am happy with this pitter. It did what I needed and seems durable. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a reliable tool for cherries and olives, especially if they want something that lasts longer than cheaper plastic tools.

Makes Eating Cherries More Enjoyable
This was one of those items I thought was silly to buy until we started eating a lot of cherries and finding that spitting out the pits was annoying and mess. I went with this particular one because I like the brand, the price was good, and reviews overall were good. It works great, it is very easy to use. If you're pitting a ton of cherries, like for a big batch of desserts or something, your hand will get tired. But for one or two servings to eat it is fine. Cherries that aren't completely ripe will take more effort to pit than nice ripe ones. I read some reviews that mentioned that it's messy when the pit shoots out, juice flies out. This is true, no matter how gentle you are. My husband had a great suggestion, instead of using a bowl for the pits to fall into, use a tall cup. Position the pitter over that, then cover the top of it with your other hand as you press, and little to no juice spits out onto your work surface. The first time I used it I had drops of cherry juice all over my counter! But once you figure it out, there's minimal mess. It will occasionally miss a pit. It'll look like it came out, but it's still in there. Be careful of that. I like that the pitter piece is metal, seems like it'll last a lot longer than something that is plastic. The rest is plastic, which is fine and feels sturdy. The little clear plastic piece that the pit falls through can be removed easily for cleaning. That little piece does help with the juice making a mess, but not enough. I really like this little kitchen trinket. If you eat cherries with any regularity, I recommend getting one. I can pit them in the morning for lunch and not have to worry about spitting the pits out when it's time to eat them.

Makes the job fast and easy without a mess!
After trying chopsticks and paperclip and other methods found on the internet, we tried this cherry litter actually designed for the job. It does the job extremely well. It's clean design and sharp blade make the job fast and easy -- without the mess and stains of our previous attempts! A friend with another product designed for pitting several cherries at a time expressed frustration that often it fails to do the job on several of the cherries. We found this one works every time. The grip makes it easy to use and the task easy. I highly recommend it!

The splatter shield comes off and I lost it the first time I used it
Otherwise it is the best pitter I have ever used. I was going to ding it a star because of it, but it really works great.

I almost didn't buy this because: did I really need a device for only this one purpose?
I'm glad I got this. The negative is my clutter issue. Kitchen gadget bloat is a real problem! But I really liked having it last summer. This year cherry season has come around again, and I was happy to pull this out. I take yogurt to work for an afternoon snack. Rather than eat all that sugary processed junk in the small yogurt and fruit packs, I buy big tubs of plain yogurt and then portion out a single serving to both reduce packaging and also better control what goes in. I love using simple fresh fruit. To be able to take a handful a cherries, pit them quickly and chop them small and throw them in with the yogurt and a little honey SO much better than pitting by hand. Or if you're going to do a nice cobbler (I'm making a cobbler this weekend now that it's on my mind!) this little guy will make the job feasible. Yeah, it's one more item for that kitchen drawer. Yeah, it's a single-use item. But it's super useful if you like cherries -- works well, pits quickly, rinses clean instantly, small and easy to store when it's not in use. It's good for what it is.

Second time to buy!!
I LOVE cherries! This particular device is ideal for occasional de-pitting because it's small, with a tab to make it even smaller in the tools drawer. Reliable/consistent. Catches the wild juices. My hand doesn't tire easily when using this. I like that the clear juice-catcher removes for easy cleaning. It is my second OXO de-pitter. I got the first one almost 15 years ago. Back then, it was the same design, but it had a plastic axle at the base. That is now metal, so even better than before!!

Works, but…
Works but splash guard comes off each time a cherry is pitted. I will probably end up throwing the guard away because it’s a hassle putting the guard back on for each cherry.

Simple and effective
Simple and efficient product. Used it for a larger batch of cherries and now during the holidays for some green olives I accidentally bought with pits. Would recommend.
