25 years ago I had a Nikon Coolscan film scanner, but having been digital for all the time since, the old Nikon is well and truly obsolete, though excellent in its day. The Plustek was the best I could find now to scan hundreds of films from the 60s through to 2000. This will keep me busy for several years. Having put about 30 films through the Plustek it seems to work well. I keep the scan size to 3600dpi for moderate file sizes; output seems OK, though not up to the standards of modern lenses and sensors. When clarity is poor you never quite know where the problem is - original exposure, original lens, film quality, processing .... Probably cameras and lenses weren't as good as we remember them, and actually Kodachromes on my childhood Instamatic 126 are often better than on my Zenith SLR from the 1970s. The SilverFast software is OK, but like another reviewer I bought VueScan for about £50 and it works better and more consistently, and has plenty of customisation. Transparencies come out worse than I expected; colour neg comes out much better than I expected; no experience with b/w neg yet. Probably can't get a better film scanner, but If anyone does it would be good to hear. We'll see how it is after a year's work.

Cumple su funcion! Lo he probado con diapositivas y con negativos. Es un proceso lento, pero se puede hacer. Escanear diapos dura mas o menos un minuto, así que con cambios y proceso manual se puede. Hacer unas 20 cada 30 minutos. Te deja archivos Tiff de 9k pixels, con bastante info para editar.

Na het bekijken van een aantal vergelijkingsreviews besloten om de Plustek aan te schaffen op Amazon. Daar vond ik de 8300i wat net was uitgekomen met de allerlaatste versie van de Silverfast software voor een goede prijs. Na aankomst apparaat aangesloten en gestart met het scannen van negatieven. De stof en krasverwijderaar niet perfect, zodat men ook software nodig heeft om dit te verhelpen. Al met al het kost wel veel tijd als men veel negatieven heeft.
