Nice accessory for my Asus Slate EP121
The rubber edges of the folio cover that came with my Asus Slate have begun to lose their grippiness, causing the folio to lose its effectiveness as a kickstand for the tablet. That sent me online in search of a stand that would meet my needs (primarily reading, watching video, surfing the web).Let me begin by saying that the R1 is *not* intended to be used with an Asus Slate EP121. My 12.1" tablet weighs 2.5 lbs and has a 0.7" thickness, so I was not sure whether the R1 would be up to the task, especially since I wanted to leave the tablet in its original folio cover (which would add an additional pound to the tablet's weight and a lot more depth). I'm glad I decided to give the R1 a try. As it turned out, the R1 suited my needs perfectly. I just allow the folio's bottom edge to sit in the R1's supports. The R1 beautifully replicates the viewing angles provided by the original folio when the R1's holder is allowed to rest on my workspace or on its base, and the R1 will even securely hold the tablet aloft in both landscape and portrait orientation as long as the middle segment of the R1 is maintained in a more vertical position.I did try placing my Slate in the R1 without its folio cover and discovered that it can be done. However, the R1 definately is not meant to hold a tablet of the Slate's thickness. The Slate needs to be tilted forward in order to fit in the R1's supports. Because of this, there is no back support for the tablet, and this means that pressure points will be created where the R1's supports meet the tablet. However, the Slate does feel secure in the stand. The R1 appears well made and durable. It has a quality look and feel. Very easy to use.All in all, the R1 has been a pleasant surprise when paired with a tablet with specs it was never designed to accomodate at all. Very happy with this purchase!

Stand that’s worth the money
Good stand. A little bigger than the first one I had, but still great quality.

A stand that has many positions and holds many models of electronics
The r1 stand is well built, sturdy yet of moderate size. The included carrying pouch is a nice added touch. I like the stand because it has protective rubber linings at all the contact points for the iPad. There are so many comfortable positions for typing landscape or portrait mode. In a folded position the iPad is close to the table surface for typing at a desk, the stand can be raised so the iPad can be held up for movie viewing or photo slide shows.I use a Bear Motion leather iPad case (which I love) which I DO NOT have to remove when using the stand, Great convenience !This stand is versatile because other electronics can be used as well. The iPhone fits nicely. It can held high for more comfort.I also used my 13" laptop in it but the joints were not strong enough to hold the laptop up high. It worked well when the stand was closed. The laptop was kept at a comfortable angle for use at a desk.My only concern is the strength of the joints. They are very tight now. They easily hold up the iPad without moving. Over time they may weaken and I don't see an easy way to tighten them if needed. Hopefully that will be a long way off. Build quality is very good. The finish is a satin smooth finish - very even and clean.I would definitely recommend this stand for it's versatility, size and multiple positions.

It works as described.
I liked the design, the balance of the stand and the versatility with more than one technology. I thought it was a good value for the money.

Good for a lot
Originally got this with the grand intention of doing work on my phone outside of the house with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Never made it out the door. It's been getting a lot of use instead keeping my phone in an upright and immediately visible position on my desk, and the excellently thought-out notch lets the phone charge the entire time it's on the stand. In other news I got a 3DS to try out hacking oddness on, and this stand keeps it perfectly positioned on the desk to do work on without needing to hold it in my hands the entire time. If you use a hacked 3DS with remote video for streaming or whatever (or even just monitoring a file transfer over FTP), then this stand is a great fit for that too. Even holds up my relatively fat HP Spectre Folio without complaints, and keeps it at a great angle in tablet mode. All in all thought it would be a totally frivolous buy I wouldn't use often, and now I'm considering getting a second one for how much work I've had to put into Nintendo's handheld, and how much more I'll need to get done.If you can afford it and have need, consider getting one!
