Is this compatible with X470 boards? Or do we need to wait for the new boards to come out?

Accepted Answer

The X470 is compatible with DDR4 RAM only. The good news is that the X670 and the B650 motherboards are now available and ARE DDR5 compatible. The bad news is that they are socketed for AMDs new CPUs only. So, you would practically need a whole new rig (motherboard, memory, and CPU). But AMD did give us 7 years of CPUs in the AM4 socket. Why does this ram require a lithium ion battery? exactly where does one install a battery in ram? also is it possible to download more ram as needed?

No batteries are used. It's the typical sloppy descriptions for tech products on Amazon. Usually you can trust the marketing materials in the page content are referring to the correct item, but one needs to double check on the detailed description in the text tables just above the review section. Many times, they're just plain wrong. I'd skip them and just lookup the tech specs using the exact model number from the manufacturer website. And obviously, it's not possible to "download" more physical ram.
