I have never tried anything else because this started working for me after two weeks. That was at least two years ago and I was bone a bone on my right knee. I have on and off pain with alternating knee, but this stuff has really helped me!

In my research, I found only one trial for glucosamine as an aid for arthritis that showed positive results and many trials that showed nothing greater than a placebo. The one positive trial was by the Mayo Clinic. Well actually, it is two trials. They did a 3 year trial that showed Dona Glucosamine Sulfate helped, particularly with arthritic knees. Since they had several trials with glucosamine that did not have positive results, they repeated the test and again got positive results. They write that they don't know why this product seems to be effective when the other glucosamine have not. They theorize that it is either the quality since this brand is pharmaceutical quality versus the others they tested were not or it is that the Dona caps include sulfate which their other tests did not. I decided it doesn't matter which theory is correct. Dona caps worked in their trials. My knees were hurting so bad that I had trouble with stairs and my knee didn't hold me one time and I fell down the steps. I went to the Dr and found that I have less than 10% cartilage remaining. He gave me a steroid shot in each knee and said it might or might not work and that I'd likely need surgery before too long. The shots helped but I also started taking Dona caps to try to delay the surgery. I went in for my 6 month follow up and surprised the Dr. He pointed out that my swelling had not yet returned but the steroid shot should have been worn off. He thought the swelling should have returned. I told him "No, the swelling hasn't returned and I have no pain when I walk up or down stairs." He was pleased and told me to continue doing whatever I was doing. I mentioned glucosamine and he shrugged and said "If it works for you, go ahead." But when I mentioned that this particular brand had positive trials at the Mayo Clinic, he stopped me and wrote down the brand so he could investigate. My knees continue to feel fine, so I haven't seen him again. When I do, I will see what his research shows. My aunt has now started with these capsules and she reports some improvement, but not as significant as mine.

I've been taking Glucosamine for several years and have tried several brands. This is the first product I've used where I notice a difference in my aching knees. After doing the research and discovering that Glucosamine Sulfate is more readily absorbed by the body, I decided to try Dona. It works! I'm going to set up auto-delivery with Amazon because I don't want a day to go by without easing my arthritis. I hike, bike and play Racquetball, and what a relief to have a supplement that takes away the stress on my knees.

Took this (one pill twice daily) for months. Didn't feel anything (like all vitamins), but I was expecting to. Overpriced and no discernable affect, so can only rate it mid.
