What if
Interesting what if compilation of materials about these projects, proposals and "dreams". Somewhat marred by errors such as: Both artworks of USS Montana display the incorrect hull number of 66 instead of 67; one or more of the H-class profiles (which are unfortunately not depicted to correct scale) appear to be incorrectly labelled (or at least not matching text data as with the H-42 profile with only three turrets).

When battleships still counted...
At the start of the Second World War, the potential of the aircraft carrier will still largely undemonstrated. The naval powers of the world still ranked battleships as their most important naval asset. In fact, as author Mark Stille discloses, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, the Soviet Union and Japan were all considering the construction of so-called super-battleships as the war began. The author has mined surviving records to suggest the appearance and capabilities of these battleships. The text includes diagrams and illustrations, and the book concludes with an imagined sea battle between Japanese and American super-battleships in 1946, at the last battle of an extended Pacific war. Recommended to students of the naval war of the Second World War.

What might have been
Great source on the super battleships that are mentioned but never discussed in detail. If you want the details, here they are. And all in one convenient volume. I found the description of the Soviet attempt most interesting.

Superficial coverage, badly written/edited
This a really poor effort, the ships described have more comprehensive Wikipedia entries that you'll find in this book. The poor research is compounded by equally poor writing which would have benefitted from an editor. Overall, not worth a tenth of what they are charging.

Disappointing and biased.
I wasn't expecting too much as the New Vanguard books are more a synopsis of a topic than a detailed text, but I found this particular title to have a significant amount of unsupported opinion rather than fact.Actually some of what was written aligned with opinions expressed on various internet sites, which was usually countered on those sites with references provided.I am sorry but I was expecting better.
