My grandson loves this!
I bought this even though I knew my grandson was still a bit too young to drive it. I figured he could still play in it and when his older cousin came over, he could be the driver until my grandson was older. It was a good call. He just loves it and plays with it constantly, climbing in and out of it and sitting in it talking on the microphone and pretending to drive. My husband and I put it together. You definitely need two people to do this, because at times it is necessary to lift it up and it is heavy. As far as the ease of putting it together, I have only one complaint. The instruction booklet that came with it had pages that had been updated. Unfortunately, although the substitute pages were in the box, there was no sticker or anything else that indicated that the substitute pages were in the box. After trying for about an hour to put the first wheel on and going over and over the instructions in the booklet trying to figure out how the parts they said needed to be used to secure the wheel could possibly work, I happened to notice the extra pages which were not in the same bag as the instruction book. I had been saying to my husband that it didn't make sense and it looked like it needed a locking nut even though the book didn't say that. When I looked at one of the extra pages there it was, and yes, a locking nut was what we needed. Once we found that, it took no time to put everything else together. I can't understand why the manufacturer didn't put the substitute pages in a plastic bag with the instruction booklet or at least do something to let you know to look for these pages. That being said, I am very happy with this product. It really looks like a fire truck and my grandson loves it. Although we charged up the battery, we aren't attaching it so that my grandson isn't able to drive it until he is older (he is only 2). It seems sturdy and well made and is standing up well to a two year old constantly climbing in and out of it. I am very happy with this product and when I see how much my grandson enjoys playing with it, I am more than happy I spent the money. All that was needed to make this experience perfect would have been something to let us know the pages in the instruction booklet had been updated.

DO NOT BUY! Look at all the 1-star reviews. This is a borderline scam!
DO NOT GIVE INTO THE TEMPTATION TO BUY THIS! This firetruck has brought so much unhappiness to our house. I saw all the one-star reviews but decided to buy it anyways. I even bought the purchase protection plan in case it broke. Well, first, it took 5 hours to put together. Seriously. The stickers alone took 1 hour! The truck worked great for a few weeks. First, the siren and microphone broke. OK, not a big deal. 3 months later, the truck completely stopped working. This is where it got really frustrating. The manufacturer says batteries are not covered by the warranty so they would not replace it. The purchase protection plan provider says the plan does not cover batteries or plastic parts. The whole thing is made of plastic! I fought them over the phone for hours and finally got them to begrudgingly agree to send me a gas pedal replacement. They said it would be here in 3-5 days. It never arrived. I called several times, couldn't get a human on the line, finally did a few times, and was told I'd get a call back. Never did. So now I have a $350 piece of junk sitting in my garage and a crushed 3-year old boy. DO NOT BUY THIS! SPARE YOURSELF AND YOUR SANITY!!! I'm amazed Amazon would even sell such a low-quality product backed by a scam purchase protection plan.

HORRIBLE BATTERY!!!
My mother-in-law bought this for my 3 year old son and he loves it. The only problem we are having and it's a BIG problem to my son, is that the battery only lasts about 30 mins or so (not continual use) and then goes dead. I contacted customer service and they said "a fully charged battery will only last about 45 minutes to and hour." I believe this is ridiculous. She bought 2 other power wheel ride-ons as well and they each last for 2 or 3 hours (not continual use). For the weight of this ride-on they need to make a better battery for it!!! But overall, he loves it for the 30 minutes he gets out of it.

Do NOT buy this crap!! Broke 3 year old's heart
Worst piece of crap EVER!!! Put this together 12-24-14, placed battery on charge. Christmas day we gave 3 grandkids riding toys as a grand finale. The other kids hopped right on their riding toys and started riding. The 3 year old hopped in this thing and hit the switch to go....and nothing. That's not the worst part. So next day I spent a lot of time tearing into this to troubleshoot. Suspected the foot switch first. It was good, had voltage. Had to start dismantling the back half to get to rest of wiring connections. Eventually found one poorly landed ground wire in connector for the speed/direction selector switch. Locked it into position and viola it worked. Poor quality assurance at manufacturer. But, it happens. Re-assembled everything while the 3 year old dying to drive like his cousins out in driveway and yard. Finally am able to turn him loose. This thing had absolutely zero speed and power compared to the 12v four wheeler for half the money his cousin was zooming around on. His cousins were doing the whole circuit around our home that has some up and down slopes. 3 year old started to try following them. Once this piece of crap left the concrete, that was about it, even on virtually level ground. Once a slope other than down came this thing was completely done! The look of complete disappointment on his face broke my heart. Knowing that I had spent $500 on this junk with no real way of returning it makes me want to cry. There is no way to package this thing up again to ship back. Such a waste of my time and money! The motors that are supposed to propel this thing are two small motors on each back wheel. Plastic gears attached to motors not much bigger than those used back in 80's to run a cassette deck. I hate this monstrosity! Run from this item!!! Buy something else. You and your child will both be better off!
