KastKing Blackhawk II Telescopic Fishing Rods, Inshore Casting 8ft -Mod Fast-H Power

As an angler that strictly uses telescopic rods, Blackhawk II ranks #1 on my list. I have tried out several other brands and these are the best in my opinion. With my lifestyle, I absolutely enjoy the convenience of strapping it to a backpack and getting out on the water. I can bike to fishing spots without worrying about breaking the tips on low hanging tree branches, I can easily access bank spots I'd have to bushwack to get to, and with how little space they take up I can fit my gear in any vehicle no matter how small a car Im riding in. Just understand that with any telescopic fishing rods, the line guides may twist around occasionally while extended. A small inconvenience I'm willing to trade for saving space. These rod guides are also secure to the rod very well. I have had issues with other rods with guides that are just a metal ring glued to the rod. Those often come unglued overtime. This rod has the guides securely epoxied to where they connect to the rod. Also, I would recommend breaking down your rods or put them down horizontally while on a boat in choppy water. Leaving them extended vertically while driving will cause them to collapse and gets your lure tangled up bouncing over the waves. I recently went to a fishing pier that had a 2 rod limit rule I didn't wasnt aware of while carrying had 4 rods with me. Intended on only using 1 set rig and fish lures between the other 3. I was able to bend that rule hiding them in my pier cart out of everyones way and quickly switch rods instead of tying a on different lure. The people working the marina with that pier were fine with that, they just didn't want people using multiple set rigs taking up too much space for others to fish. I use the 7"6' inshore casting and spinning rods. I've landed 5ft alligator gar and a overslot redfish with them, while still having a sensitive enough tip to keep speckled trout and even crappie pinned.

This fishing rod is great! It is a collapsible, portable telescopic rod that fits easily in a backpack or small space. This is the 8 foot casting model and I used it for casting for small lures for trout at a local mountain lake. It seems very strong even though it was telescopic and the parts fit together very nicely. A big plus is that the guides move individually and were easy to slide into place. They are also “rock solid”. I will be going to the beach next to try some shore fishing.

The upper 3 sections are so thin it wasn't a surprise seeing it break. The overall idea is excellent. The telescoping connectors need a bayonet lock. It would take a little longer to deploy, but then the segments would stay in place, and the user wouldn't have to fiddle with the eye alignment constantly. The idea of heaving the rod terminates into 3 thin segments clearly targets the casting comfort and efficiency. However, there is life with underwater obstacles, and one hard pull on a submerged log is curtains for this skinny rod.

Looks well made. Packaged nicely to ensure it was not damaged. Comes with protective cover. Will update once put to use. Update **** So was finally able to get this thing on the water and test it out. Went shore fishing multiple times since first review and here are the findings. Pros: 1.Lightweight 2.very compact 3.Easy to cast...this thing flings out line and bait with a vengeance...but that could be related to the reel and line as well...but it is well balanced 4.seems sturdy and has held up battling some smaller size fish...nothing of serious note battle tested yet but it did hold up to some surf perch, bat rays, sting rays, a small leopard shark, and a legal size cabezon. Paired with a kastking royale legend II reel and 25lb braid this thing is solid so far. Cons: 1.When extending rod, some guides are floating and move around on the rod, youreally have to seat them in place to make them stable or else line twist is bound to happen 2. When compacting rod, if the rod segments were pulled into place too taught, the pieces can become very hard to compress..any sand particles are also a pain in the ass and will mess up the rods ability to lengthen properly. 3. I wish the butt section of the rod were longer given the length of the rod, but i suppose its a small price...will only really come in handy when battling a larger fish...i pray i dont hook anything too large as fighting with a short rod butt section is going to be hell. Final update: really put this rod through the test the other night shore fishing at night. Hooked up and battled various and sharks from a few pounds up to a behemoth 35 lb bat ray. The rod performed well and felt sturdy. Noticed a few new things though...the rod butt section does factor into how you play the fish as mentioned previously, negative way, and when I was holding the first collapsing rod portion for extra leverage it actually collapsed into the main section....mid fight I had to re pull it out and straighten it battling the large bay ray. This made for a challenging task given the size of the fish. It did well though and has good flex and power whole still being sensitive enough to feel the smaller fish. I would recommend this rod for worry free travel fishing. As for regular use, get a mono or 2 piece rod instead. Tight lines, ya'll
