Right tool for the right job
There are so many tool makers now in the market. Prices are competitive and it all depends on the quality they have to offer. Quality on materials and how far can the tool be used to its limit.Williams brand is USA made ratchet with a low tooth count. I really can apply a good amount of torque on this ratchet. With the low tooth count comes with a price, the switching lever on the ratchet head. The lower the tooth count the more resistance you will have switching directions. It will be loose through time but compared to 72 tooth ratchets, they are more fine like a clockwork. But I need this tool for its low tooth count and durability not for smoothness. The handle is round and coated smooth, making it easier to wipe clean. Lenght is just right for tight places. There is a good weight on it adding more mass on to it. This ratchet is easily compared to an expensive popular USA made brand, but price wise this is very affordable. If you are looking for low tooth ratchet with solid body that you can crank hard and having a reasonable price, choose Williams.

USA Made and just in time!
My old USA made Craftsman 1/4 ratchet broke last week so instead of replacing it with a free China copy I bought another USA made ratchet. The Williams went straight from mailbox to work and didn't miss a beat. It has nice finishing, sturdy enough for the job, and is built by a guy named Steve who may one day buy something I make.

i really like it
Just received my ratchet today. I haven't used it yet but it looks and feels amazing. Stamp on handle says USA. i use a fix head 120 xp ratchet same length a lot for starter B terminal nut and other hard to reach stuff. Super long handle should be great. I will update next Monday once i show my snap on truck this ratchet and see if he could actually service it with his rebuild kits. if you don't want to pay $100 plus on tool truck for a ratchet this is probably good option.update 9/12/24 spoke with my snap on truck about a service kit for this ratchet. He has no access to Williams tool service kits or any parts for Williams brand tools.I still like it and use it a lot!

Great ratchet for extra leverage and tight situations
Very nice, high quality, USA made ratchet as you'd expect from this line of JH Williams ratchets (Not all of their ratchets are USA made, but those that look like this are.)It certainly has a place in my toolbox, and while it's not the 1/4" drive ratchet that I'll go to for everything, it is perfect for some situations. The flex head really helps with situations with limited space, particularly when you're working with breaking a fastener loose that is a little too tight to break free with a small 1/4" drive ratchet. It is overall much longer than my other 1/4" drive ratchets, which means plenty of extra leverage when needed, and plenty of leverage even when the flex head is significantly bent. I am sure that this ratchet would stand up to any amount of torque that you might put on it without any slipping, self reversing, or the like. The two downsides to this ratchet are the somewhat coarse movement and the somewhat high ratcheting torque. It is a 36 tooth design, which means a 10 degree swing to engage the next tooth. While that is probably the most common number of teeth for a ratchet, and there is no backlash or play to speak of like there is in lower quality 36 tooth ratchets, when you're used to dual 80 ratchets or the like, this will seem fairly coarse. In very tight situations, you may only be able to engage a couple of teeth, and a finer tooth ratchet makes all the difference there. The second downside is the somewhat high ratcheting torque; once the fastener is loose enough to turn by hand, you'll almost certainly need to put a finger or two on the socket/extension to get it to ratchet rather than spin in both directions. Of course that's not an issue if you can reach the fastener to loosen by hand, but it's something to be aware of.Overall, a very nice ratchet that serves its purpose well. Not my all time favorite ratchet, but a good buy and a good ratchet nonetheless.

Functional at a great price
Back Drag is a bit much, it improves with use. Although only 36 teeth it is Avery handy ratchet. Good solid lockup on sockets and extensions. It's length allows good leverage.

Well made 36 tooth 1/4" ratchet
Made by Snap-On, Williams tools are a cheaper alternative to their more expensive counterparts. While they aren't branded as Snap-On, they do still carry a full warranty just as Snap-On branded tools do as well. I modified mine installing the 3/8 compact ratchet kit (RKRFC936), turning it into a 3/8 stubby rat. Beautiful well finished body, and the kit fits perfectly and has a smooth low back drag action! Sure it's only a lower 36 tooth count, but there are still times when a low tooth count rat can be handy. And the handle on these M52's are very similar to the old Snap-On M70's, except on these the ridges are less prevalent. Very nice tool! Satisfied!👍

Good quality
Like it so far smaller head than most of my other 1/4 ratchets and that’s great for them tighter spaces. Glad to see an older quality name tool still being made. Don’t quote me but I believe they were bought by Snap-On tools.

This Williams ratchet is American made, and uses the same guts as past 1/4 snap on ratchets. I have a 1/4 snap on ratchet, the head it very similar and if you flip them over they have the exact same patent numbers and markings on the retainer plates. This ratchet is 1/3 of the price of a snap on one, and seems to be very comparable quality. Williams tools that have alpha numeric part numbers are made is the USA and are excellent quality (compared to Williams tools that have all number part numbers that are made in Taiwan). Very happy, will forsure buy more of the American made willams tools. As another review stated, the ratchet was sticky when it arrived but I soaked it in oil and it’s 100% perfect now.

Love it, handle is quite long for a 1/4 in , slim handle but works great for me USA made came with grease, 36 tooth the mechanism loose like needed to be broken in to, When I first opened the package the lever switch was stuck and the teeth were very sloppy, I opened it up & found the grease inside was a bit hardened, I added a couple of drops of oil & WOW it has the most positive tooth engagement I ever had
