Quality and Good Price
I love to knit and crochet. When I look for project, I want it challenging to make it interesting and have my mind exercise. So when searching for my next big project, I saw a different kind of stitch using a hook I have never seen before. So I went to the craft stores and Walmart, and they didn't have them. They said I needed to order it online somewhere. I couldn't believe they didn't carry craft materials like this. So I researched which one I needed. It called for a certain length and crochet hook size. There are too many out there that I can find. However, when I came across the Bates brand, I knew it would be of good quality. Most, if not all, of my hooks are made from them and I have been extremely happy with those. When I got this, it was packaged nicely where I can even keep it in the bag when not using it. The hook is extremely comfortable to hold and not too slippery. The wire is a good thickness and is holding on fine to the hook. My project doesn't fall off the back-end due to the great 'stopper'. My afghan is getting quite heavy and it is holding it up just fine! I have not had any problems with it coming off. However, I do slide my project closer down to the wire part so it doesn't come off the hook. I am extremely happy with this hook and highly recommend it! If I do other projects calling for a different size, I will be sure to order another Bates from this seller!

Good quality product. Light weight and easy to use.
Was just the hook I needed! Held the 212 stitch row perfect.

Tunisian Hook with plastic extender
This is awkward to work with. I soaked it in very hot water and it "sort of" straightened it out but I still have to fight with it to stay turned in the right direction. Next time I'd research a good bit more.

Cable is too stiff and hook could use more of a point
I was hoping to find a good metal Tunisian crochet hook since all I can find are wood and I’m left disappointed. The cable is so stiff that it’s constantly getting in the way and/or making the hook shift in your hands making it difficult to use. I also think that for Tunisian crochet a more pointed hook makes it easier to gather the stitches.

Great for Tunisian cochet
I have been learning Tunisian crochet and needed a crochet hook with and extended cable. This is perfect as it is metal and plastic (I have already broken a plastic one).

The Grandfather of All Tunisian Hooks
If you are familiar with entrelac or Tunisian crochet, you'll probably be in need of one of these hooks.I've found the extended tail is excellent for larger projects, but you will need to adjust to the dangling plastic extension, especially if you're crocheting on a hard surface such as a table. If you're crocheting in the traditional manner, this is NOT the hook you're looking for - the weight and length is absolutely designed for Tunisian crochet. There is minimal resistance on the yarn from the hook, and I never have issues with Susan Bates hooks splitting my yarn. If regular Tunisian hooks aren't cutting it for your next big project, this long hook will fit like a glove.

Impossible to use without causing frustration and hand cramps
~ Total length from tip of hook to end of stopper is 23".~ Length of cord from where it joins the hook to the start of the stopper is 16 1/2".~ The hook itself is 6" long. However, the tapering at the end to join to the cord begins at 4", making it feel like a 4" hook.~ The hook is round and smooth. Unlike Susan Bates Silvalume hooks, this hook does not have a flattened thumb rest on the shaft.~ Unlike other Susan Bates hooks, which are in-line, the tip of the hook is tapered.~ The hook is smooth and yarn glides easily over the hook and shaft.~ The cord is stiff and retains is coiled shape. Hot water bath was no help. The cord does not swivel, and the coil pulls in a awkward and uncomfortable direction. Due to the cord pulling, the hook swivels to the wrong position for pulling loops through. Due to lack of thumb rest on the hook, I am unable to control the swiveling of the hook as it gets loaded with loops. I have to stop every few stitches to reorient the hook.

Loved this hook; would recommend
I enjoyed using this tunisian crochet hook. I have made several blankets with it. I do wish I could order a hook with a longer tale. I find this one is only good for smaller blankets such as baby blankets. I do love this product still. Great price, has held up very well and is smooth when crocheting. Would recommend for beginners or advanced persons.I hope that Susan bates comes out with more tunisian hooks with varying sizes of extentions.
