Can the metal belt clip be removed? Is it attached by a snap, or is it on the case all the time?

The clip is not removable but it will turn in different positions. If you want a case with no clip then see this link: https://www.amazon.com/Nokia-Phone-Nakedcellphone-Protective-Texture/dp/B097BYXQHH/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=2720&m=A2IWH8452SLEI5&qid=1634854121&s=merchant-items&sr=1-2&th=1

With the phone turned on and closed, is the time and incoming call / contact info displayed through a clear vinyl window on the front of the phone.

Yes that is displayed and visible thru clear vinyl window

To the manufacturer: couldn't you puleeeze (!!!) make the identical phone case with no belt clip? i (plus many others, i'm sure) would love it!!!
