Don't be fooled by brand name clamps that claim to be the best - this one IS THE BEST! The super strong spring outperforms any others for thick hair -and is one of the few that comes this size which is clearly the largest on the market. The shape neatly holds in the strays and it doesn't poke into your scalp when you put your head back against a headrest, chairback or pillow. The biggest plus? This one is larger than the others out there - on the comb side, the combs measures 3-1/2" from edge to tip of the teeth. The width (perpendicular to the clamp) is 2-3/4". When I scoop up my just-past-shoulder-length hair (it is fine but I have a lot of it) and I hold it in place with my palm, the clamp clips right in the exact same space and holds it snug as a bug!
