Is this Machine washable?

I don't know, but I wouldn't. The easiest thing to do is make sure ALL litter has been removed, then wash/rinse in a laundry tub, bath tub or shower (or outside). Make sure it's completely dry before returning to the litter area.

Question 2

I’m having a real hard time emptying the mat. How do I empty it without litter going out everywhere?

Chances are if you are attempting to empty the mat into a trash can (or litter box) with a smaller diameter than the width of the mat or a shallower depth than the length of the mat, you won't be able to keep litter from spilling everywhere.  I think your best bet would be to:
      1) With the mat lying on the floor, pull apart the honeycomb layer and solid layer from the mouth end (as shown in the main product picture)
      2) Gently shake the mat to funnel the loose litter to the center while holding it from the mouth end
      3) Somehow transition your hands from pulling the layers apart at the mouth end to pressing them apart from the sides, all the while keeping them separate
      4) Gently tilt the mat upwards, allowing the collected litter to pour into a receptacle of your choosing
      5) Keep in mind that depending on your litter product, some granules may be too large to fall through the honeycomb layer, and will therefore not be trapped by this method
Personally though, I don't bother trying to empty my mats into a can.  On my cleaning days I just shake everything out on the hardwood floor and then vacuum it up.

How does this mat do with crystal litter?

Hi,
I buy my litter in bulk from PetCo and am not sure if it's crystal.  But this mat is great.  The design is small beveled (down) honycombs that catch everything. Each opening is about 1/8-3/32".  My cat really can sling her litter around especially after I clean the box.  Nothing gets on my floor and it's easy to empty.  I hope this helps you.
