3M Keyboard Cleaner Kit (674)

My computer is everything to me. Between my hobbies, news, email, and entertainment (I don't have a tv) I'm probably at my computer 80% of my free time. I am "bad" and eat near my computer and don't always wash my hands before using it. I also have a cat who is always near, and sometimes on it. As a result, the laptop was getting a little...okay, a lot...dingy.I didn't know what type of solution I should use to clean the keyboard of my laptop (thinking it more sensitive than a detached keyboard, and at least more expensive). I didn't want to damage anything. I saw this product and it's somewhat mixed reviews. However, the people who were saying they could do the same thing with this or that still bought the product and it worked, so I decided to give it a try. It was cheap enough that it was worth the risk.I am so glad I did! I followed the directions and it only took a couple of minutes to have a brand new looking keyboard again! It was so very easy. And the grime came off with small amounts of the solution and no "elbow grease." In the past I have cleaned PC keyboards with q-tips and it took forever. I don't know if it's the solution or the applicator that makes this so quick and easy, but add that to the worry-free aspect and it was definitely worth the price!

Normally, I see items like this on a shelf, and think "Who on earth buys these trinkets?".Answer: I do now. Someone brought me one of these that they found in their desk, and it lingered in a drawer for months. At some point, I became completely disgusted by my co-worker's Apple keyboard (remember, they made a decision to build keyboards that get so nasty). I figured it was worth a shot.This product is nothing short of amazing. I have tried ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, diluted windex, diluted dish detergent, and other things, and have always been frustrated. This stuff is a watery liquid, and is applied using the little scrubbing pad. It seriously made this filthy nightmare look like it was basically new. I cannot convey how impressed I was by its ability to lift off months of greasy goo. I immediately bought another one for my personal use, and plan to buy more when the liquid runs out. I am embarrassed by how often I have told people about it (every time I see a gross keyboard).I estimate that the kit contains enough to clean a normal keyboard about 6 times, if used sparingly. The scrubber can itself be cleaned using soap and hot water. You can use a toothbrush if you have nooks on your keyboard. I suggest turning the computer off, removing the battery if necessary, and turning it on its side (vertically) to clean it. I doubt the liquid would cause problems if it got inside, but I don't want goo lurking in the alcoves below the keys, either. This didn't dissolve the lettering, or leave any markings on the keyboard surface (Apple keyboard, old IBM keyboard, das Keyboard, and Lenovo Thinkpad). I fully recommend this product. I wish the bottle of liquid was a little larger, or I'd give it five stars.

I had high hopes for this product. tried it on 2 differant keyboards and the only dirt and dust it picked up was on the top of the keys.The sponge part that goes around the keys is to fat and will not clean keys that are close together. I went to the effort of pressing every key down so that the space would open up for the sponge to fit and clean the dust. Even that didnt work. So I tried the clothe they send to blot up extra solution on the keys and folded it in half and ran it between the keys and it came up dirty. the cloth was thin so it could get between the key and the keyboard.The cloth had no solution on it at all. You can accomplish the same thing using a lint free thin cloth you have at home and spend a fraction of the cost.

This stuff is straight forward, put the juice on the tool and scrub away. I wish it came with two though as there is more solution unless you are suppose to use more. The directions say apply, scrub and wipe the excess with blotters. The warnings are quite scary, about skin irritation, inhaling etc etc. So I used gloves and must say it did a good job with the hard to remove grease. I sweat a lot and game a lot as well. I used it on the gaming mouse and got great results as well. For safety issues due to the warning I used a wet towel and wiped down after I blotted any excess cleaner. I also notice the streaks so the towel did help remove it.At the end my keyboard almost looks as new as I got it. Again I wish it came with another cleaner tool as the one I have is pretty dirty and one side of the U shape sponge is almost about to come apart. Maybe they should have made that part into a scrub just like the center. This stuff is the real deal if your keyboard is/was really dirty like mine. Next try on the playstation controller next !

To me, this kit seems like a cheap product, overall. And an unnecessary one.You get a couple of very small microfiber cloths and a cheap tool made of foam rubber that has a material something like Velcro on one side (that you scrub with) and a U-shaped prong on each end. Apparently the prongs are for going between the keys on the keyboard. You also get a small bottle of cleaning fluid.I can't see where anyone really needs any of this. You're better off using a damp cloth or something else. 3M (if it's the same company) makes some other very good products. I've used their wet or dry sandpaper over a period of years and it's excellent. But I wouldn't recommend this particular product at all.

Works very well. My keyboard got it's shine back and also the dirt between the keys is gone thanks to this. Very easy to use and doesn't leave any smell or trace of it on the keyboard. Would recommend it to everyone.

Works as advertised, and the two differently shaped foam ends make it easier to clean between the keys.

Pros:1. Cleaning Very good.2. Cleans very quickly.3. Instructions are quite clear.4. Brush fits well on keyboard keys and cleans from the sides also.Only Cons, Brush looks thin.Could be more sturdy.Instruction tells about taking care of eyes and throat.- Cover your mouth and nose since, I felt very slight discomfort in throat. Which went away in few minutes.- One can get this with any cleaning agent so please do not judge the product on the basis of this.
