Two Year Followup - This thing is amazing! It’s been kicking around now for two years of beach-going and has held up. It’s color is still vibrant enough that my kids can spot it from the water, has never turned inside out or blown away in a strong wind, and is still going strong next to my mother’s Tommy Bahama. Definitely a good investment.My family took this umbrella on a week long vacation to the beach. Though we didn't have any excessively windy days, this one did hold up well to some pretty strong gusts. It was also very easy to "drill" into the sand and sturdy enough to stuff towels and t-shirts into the ribbing (I know you're not supposed to do that, but I'm pretty sure we all do anyway). It looked and performed as well as, if not better than, my mother's Tommy Bahama umbrellas. I absolutely recommend it. The only trouble we had was that the carrying case ripped open on our last day so the umbrella pole would just slide out. Easily fixed with a needle and some thread, but kind of a pain to deal with.

This is everything you want in a beach umbrella. Slip it from its easy-carry bag, poke the base where you want it in the sand, put the chained metal dowel through the hole making a turn handle, screw it in until secure, insert and raise the umbrella, and push down the locking handle. Voila! It is very sturdy even in stiff wind, vented, tilts, UV resistant, enough coverage for two chairs, cooler and outstretched legs. I liked it so much I bought another for our guests. We’ve used them over a dozen times and they’re still like new. Great value!

We go to the beach a lot and had to pay $20 a day to rent chairs and an umbrella. Whenever the sun moved we had to try to find the attendant to move the umbrella. It was frustrating. We finally bought our own chairs and our own umbrella and although we have only used it once, it was just perfect. My husband did make something to reinforce it to make sure it would stay in the sand when it was windy but it may work just as well without it, who knows. The colors are lovely and I am very happy with the purchase.

This umbrella is perfect for the Port Aransas Beach and can be carried and set up easily by two old (88 and 78) year old beach lovers. This umbrella is the perfect solution when you don't want to set up one of those four legged tent structures. We had no trouble screwing down into the sand, and it stayed steady and provided a perfect amount of shade for the two of us sitting in our canvas chairs. Items like this make it easier for us to stay happy and independent.

My wife and I usually bought Tommy Bahama beach umbrellas in the past and they lasted us 2 - 3 years. We tried this one because we wanted the larger size and thought it looked like a stronger umbrella. When it arrived, we liked the umbrella itself. A lot of splines that looked stronger than the Tommy Bahama ones. The tilt mechanism, however, look poorly made. It had a lot of play in it. We didn't worry about it, though, because we seldom used this feature.However, the first week we used it, it caught some wind and the pole bent in half and the tilt mechanism came apart. It was a good gust of wind, but not unusual for the beach. There were numerous umbrellas in use by people and ours was the only one that seem to have any problem. This is listed as a high wind umbrella. Granted, the umbrella portion did fine but the pole sure wasn't made for high wind.We saw reviews by others that mentioned the poor quality of the pole but we saw a notice from the company that they strengthened the pole and it was the strongest on Amazon. Definitely not the case.To make matters worse, we contacted the company to tell them what happened hoping that they would set things right. But it went straight to voice mail (granted, I called them over Labor Day Weekend) and left a message with my contact info and was told they would get back to me. No return call to date. Their customer service is as good as their pole engineers.
