The Atheros AR9271 chipset is supported by Aircrack-ng in Kali Linux, has anyone used this for packet injections and was it successful?

Hey I also should have mentioned it in my last response to your question. If you want the best signal with these to order yourself one of the panel antenna to go with it, you won't be sorry. I found that to be the best one for multiple signal issues. I actually order two more of them for myself after buying the first one. I'm using it right now with a shared internet connection over a hundred feet away with buildings and walls in between for around two years or more now. Great connection and speeds. It also works better than either one of my laptops internal wi-fi. Good luck :-)

Is it plug and play with Backtrack? Or are drivers somewhere online?

This adapter is plug and play Ubuntu, Backtrack and Kali Linux. Good for Wireless Penetration and Metasploits!

I once tried hooking a yagi up to this adapter, and it worked! I didn't have an antenna mount though, so keeping it pointed in the right direction was no fun. Just make sure the cable is compatible, it's an "RP-SMA" connector. Good luck!

Does this support monitor mode?

Yes, it supports monitor mode. I have not tested with Windows drivers yet, but monitor mode works perfect on Linux Operating System, on Debian 9 with firmware-atheros and on Kali Linux out of the box.
