Great and useful product.
I've owned several of these over many years (possible decades?). They are the only product I've found that facilitates feeding my cat healthier wet cat food. It keeps the food fresh, reducing both waste and my need to be an available servant to the cat. It means the cat has fresh wet food even if I work late or when she's up before me. It is easy to train even adult cats to use the unit. The units last a long time but not indefinitely. When I have to replace them, I keep the old moveable cover so I can have backups while one is in the dishwasher. Speaking of dishwasher, I seem to recall during my first purchase that the manufacturer stated the bowls shouldn't be put in the dishwasher. But, I've always done so and they still seal up fine when the cover lowers. The only thing that bothers me about these is that I have a small panic when replacing them because sometimes they aren't available. One small tip would be that sometimes it might be useful to actually wave your hand over the unit to uncover the food in certain situations. The only time I have done this is when I have an aging cat who is either forgetful or losing their sense of smell. They might sometimes forget the unit still has food in it as the day progresses. Once the food is uncovered, especially if you either point at the food, or wave your hand over it a few times to 'waft' the scent towards them, or simply pick them up and place them in front of the bowl.

Works great, easy to clean, cats love it, saving money on food!
Update: have been using this for my two cats for 2 years and NO ISSUES. Works perfect and battery lasts forever. Have only changed the batteries ONCE in two years! This thing is the best!! We have had this feeder for 8 months and it has worked perfectly. I got the stainless steel bowl (x2) for it because my cats have allergies. My cats immediately took to the feeder and there was no training needed, I was amazed by this because I was sure the movement and slight motor sound would scare them. My cats eat exclusively wet food so this has been a money saver for us. My cats are like most cats and don’t eat all of their food in one sitting and return to it for little bites here and there. The wet food stays fresher so much longer in this feeder, it doesn’t get dried out, and I am not throwing as much food out since purchasing this. We have had no issues with the feeder opening. It always opens when it senses movement. We do have to be diligent about keeping the sensors and area around the opening clean because my cats are messy eaters and sometimes kick up food bits. The stainless steel bowls are awesome and I love that they have this option as my cats have allergies and must avoid plastics. The bowls are nice and wide (whisker friendly!) and so easy to clean with just a sponge, soap, and hot water. We bought two so we have one in use and one to switch out with when it’s new feeding time. We have had the feeder 8 months now and are still running on the original set of batteries! Highly recommend this feeder!

Too many issues, dark coat won't trigger IR sensors
This product never worked well. First of all it hardly detected my cat which I suspect is because of the dark coat she has. Secondly, even though she adjusted and I would watch her patiently shift her position over the bowl many times until the unit recognized her, it also would consistently close up on her as she ate. I still stuck with this unit because overall it kept her wet food fresher and she eventually figured out a way to trigger it when it closed on her (still a very bad design issue!). However 8 months since purchase, now the unit has stopped working altogether. It simply won't open not even with the button that is supposed to force it open and keep it open for a while. Resetting it (taking batteries out and waiting for a while then restarting the unit) worked sometimes but I usually had to do this several times before it inexplicably would work again for a few days... until the same issue resurfaced. Overall very unsatisfied with this product, I've only had it for 8 months and now it's a $50 bowl holder (I removed the lid so at least it's useful for something). Definitely not worth buying.

Quiet, smooth lid operation easy on cat nerves
Works well. Curious or less timid cats might not have to go through the whole training process. My cat seemed to pick it up right away, finding the lid movement interesting rather than alarming. It's quiet and moves slowly, so that probably helps. Addendum on 11/16/20: Still 5 stars! But it stopped working during the warranty period even with fresh batteries installed. Called SurePetCare.com and within minutes they had gotten my information to send me a new one. They offer top-notch customer service. The rep was polite, efficient and took care of everything quickly, hence five stars. They stand by their products. I really like this sealed bowl feeder. It keep wet food fresh and is easy to deal with.

Even my "Scaredy Cats" use these bowls.
I've got two sister cats who are afraid of their own shadows. So I took it VERY slow with the suggested training routine. The end result is that both cats now eat from these contraptions without any issues. I bought two, since my cats prefer different foods. Both units work very well, although I've noticed that one of the units opens and closes a little slower than the other one. The instructions are easy to understand. The grey single bowl that comes with the unit is very easy to clean. My cats are inside only, and I have no problem with bugs in the house...although I do get gnats because of an overabundance of houseplants. I have never noticed any gnats inside the pet bowl when I take it out to clean it. The big plus for me, and the reason I decided to take a chance with this product, is because my cats primarily eat canned food. They also like to eat just a little, and then come back to the food later. I live in a dry climate, and their food was drying out before they came back to it. Then they'd look up at me like it was my fault. This keeps the food moist for a couple of hours, and has saved me money by not having to throw out wasted food. I did order a couple of extra bowls for convenience. I've got one cat who likes to have a little dry food during the day as well, so I got a divided bowl for her use. I've had these SureFeeds almost two months now and have no complaints...but I do feel that a stainless steel bowl would be preferable if they could attach the sealing ring to steel.

Best Pet Bowl!
This thing is a life saver! My cat is on a special limited protien wet food that just stinks something awful. When I lived in a larger apartment, it wasn't so bad but now that I've moved into a studio, it permeates the air and I end up having to leave for a few hours until the smell dissipates. Since I purchased this and set it up, the smell has cut in half and is now tolerable. The neoprene seal isn't perfect, doesn't eliminate the smell entirely mind you, but enough for me to be in the same room after a feeding. As for the rest: set up was easy and self explanatory. My cat Fred figured out how to use it in under a day and it's been less than a week and he uses it just like his old bowl, no hesitation at all. No need for the training modes for my greedy little floof! I like the fact that the seal keeps the food fresh so it doesn't dry out and the bowl is non stick which makes cleaning a breeze. I no longer have to rescoop the remaining food into a pile in the bowl for him because the edges of this bowl are gently rounded therefore the food doesn't get stuck in steeply angled corners or edges. The best part by far, is that Fred no longer eats using his paws so I don't find a mess of dried food crumbles on the floor at the end of the day. I don't have to sweep and mop his food area twice a day anymore! Woohoo! I can't yet speak to the products durability since I've only had it a week but I hope it lasts a loooong time. Even if it doesn't, I'll probably buy another because this has been such a wonderful time saver for me.

Great for Indoor/Outdoor Cats and Porch Ferals
Absolutely love this product. It meets two distinct market voids, those who avoid kibble and only feed wet food and those whose cats are not on a schedule and are not chipped or tagged. This device is motion activated. It is great for indoor outdoor cats and returning ferals since these cats do not operate on a human schedule, but rather one informed by nature and the weather. It keeps wet food from drying out and when on a raised surface, keeps the bugs out. It is close-up motion activated, so commotion around it will not cause it to open unless one is right up on it. Some of the more skittish ferals are frightened away when the lid opens, but they eventually learn not to be afraid of it. Sadly the critters that have zero problem with the technology are the raccoons and skunks, so if in an area with those, it helps to place the food on top of a table where cats will jump, but skunks won't. The device does sometimes have a wee bit of trouble with all dark cats, but all they have to do is move a bit and it reopens. Have not yet used it in winter. It is not designed for outside use although I have it out on a covered screened-in porch where it is 32F overnight and it does just fine. Once it starts getting really cold and staying cold during the day, I will put it inside a heated cat house I also keep on the porch. Love Love Love this so much, I bought a second one.

Iffy for feral cats and outdoor use
I "acquired" a TNR (trap, neuter, release) cat over a year ago. He continues to live outside and has a few neighborhood buddies. I had been leaving food outside in a paper bowl but the swarm of flies was disgusting. I wanted a simple, mechanical, step-on lid feeder for them all--the cat steps on a pedal, the lid pops open. I guess that's just too 20th century; everything today has to be electronic. My Joe is now microchipped but I have no idea about all of his feline friends, so the uber-custom microchip reader bowls were out. This was literally the only bowl I could find that would sense any nearby cat and open, so I bought it. Well... it's ok. The cats adapted to it in about 30 seconds, so that was no problem. **Mostly** it opens and closes as required. Occasionally it goes a little crazy and keeps opening and closing-- I'm not sure that's really a sign of dying batteries, but replacing the batteries seems to correct it. (Batteries really don't last very long in this thing; I've replaced them twice already in a month's time. Considering two sets of rechargeable batteries when my Costco mega-supply of conventional C batteries is gone. ) The biggest problem I have with the unit is cleaning it. Yes, it keeps the flies out. No, it doesn't keep the slugs out. Try cleaning slug slime from this thing-- it's nearly impossible. Even better-- apparently it snips off bits of slug as it closes, so you often have slug parts, dead and alive, awaiting you in the morning. You can't avoid getting the electronics wet--thankfully, I live in a very hot and dry climate, so leaving it outside for a few hours takes care of that. Plus, the lid is a different kind of plastic and cleans differently, and it's hinged so it's difficult to scrub, but you can get it done. I super appreciate the way this unit keeps flies out, but this company (and others) would do outdoor cat feeders a huge favor by addressing the problems I've noted here. (Please-- just a simple step/ flip product that slugs couldn't activate... please!) I sort of recommend this product if you're desperate. It's probably worth trying it. Probably.

Works perfectly. Great company
So happy with this pet feeder. Keeps uneaten wet food from drying out leading to less waste. My cat is free to eat as much or as little as she wants and come back later to still-fresh food . A year later and the cover suffered a mishap and the cover hinge broke. I contacted the seller and they replied right away and sent a replacement cover at no cost. Excellent product and company.

Pet bowl: great. Spike: not so much
I flipped out finding this item. For months I am trying different solutions to prevent throwing away uneaten cat food: half a portion, quarter portion, teaspoon at a time, cling film, aluminum foil, Tupperware, dry only diet -- finally I gave up and made peace with the money I'm throwing away on uneaten wet cat food, since Spike only eats up to 70% of it at best case scenario (and many times merely 20-30%, not more) and that's talking about the minimal 85gr portions. You see, Spike, evidently a trend following cat, eats only fresh. i.e, immediately after the package was opened. He is less bothered by the fact that poor animals were processed into food for him only to be thrown away - not that I'm vegetarian, but at the very least I make sure no animal died in vain... It's not lettuce. So, when discovering the SureFeed product it took very little time until checkout, and I was ready to crown it product of the century even before the order arrived. Spike, sadly, didn't get the memo. The product itself is indeed great. It's a smart invention that is very reasonably priced, well built from high quality materials and works smoothly and easily even if you're not very gadget friendly. It was a matter of inserting batteries (add those to your cart right after to save some headache later, as they are not included. Not that I would expect that for the pet bowl price) and turning it on, and it was ready to go. One feature that I clearly overlooked, what with it being my fastest placed order ever, and found out about only when the item arrived is the training button, that will get your cat accustomed to the new dish with moving parts over a few days. It worked very well, and the switch was as simple as it gets. The motion detection, obviously the most important part of the machine, works flawlessly and the mechanism is surprisingly quiet. It took no more than Spike sticking his nose over it, and the flap would gently open, and close back few seconds after he finished and moved on with bath time. Since I am less fond of dishwashing, I also ordered extra bowls (sold separately) - those were found out to be of the same high quality, and most importantly very easy to wash - still doesn't mean I wanna keep washing the one bowl for every feeding, but once a day I do all three in seconds and don't even bother with the dishwasher. As you can see, happy customer here. Well, happy buyer. The target audience however remained true to his habits, and would still eat only right after the food was opened. The next time hunger strikes, he would approach the SureFeed, allow it to open, sniff, and head for the dry food backup. It should be noted that I'm specifically describing Spike's culinary adventures in order to make you aware that in the off chance your cat is related to mine and you're also buying the SureFeed for the same goal and not because of having a flies issue or what not, it might be that just like in my case your only solution to solve it is replacing the cat, not the bowl (which isn't happening, so tough luck for me. Parenting is difficult, people). It therefore should also be noted that a friend who ordered the product as well, and also lucked out with a normal cat, reports that his cat is eating as much as he needs, retires to his business, and when he wishes to eat again will come back and eat the rest. Moreover, the said cat which was sadly abused as a kitten and grew up to be a very shy and quiet cat which is extremely easily freightened and is very careful around new things, took very well to the SureFeed and learned quickly that the fact its cover is moving is a good thing (which says a whole lot about how quiet and gentle the system is, especially in that cat's case). In conclusion: it's truly a great product that does it's job well and is very affordable; however, if your intention is to eliminate food waste there is a chance it might not be able to help you with that. Try asking Alexa for an advice.

Ottimo prodotto
