(Updated Review) Fantastic TV after the price drop
[01/20/2023] Update] Sony representative has got back to me about my support ticket, and they decided to exchange the tv with a new set. I will update the review to 4/5 stars for now, and if the replacement set solves the high pitched whine issue I will update review back to 5/5. [01/16/2023 Update] So two months went by with this TV, and it ended up developing an ear piercing high pitch whine from the back of the panel. Everything still works and the picture quality is great, but the noise is really annoying when TV volume is set low. Fortunately I don't have any pets, because the noise would drive them mad. I opened up a support ticket with Sony and provided videos with the sound as best as possible with a phone microphone, but they just keep doing the, "We are reviewing your case, we'll get back to you in 2-3 business days with a solution," run around every 2-3 business days. Hopefully they will resolve this issue, but until then the review will be 2 stars for slow support. [Original Review] I have purchased this TV for two things: One, I needed to upgrade to a 4K TV to watch movies on. And two, a TV to compliment the PS5. It didn't disappoint. One thing to get out there right way is this TV isn't an automatic plug and play 4K VRR for the new consoles. You have to make sure that after plugging the console into HDMI 2.1 supported port, you go into HDMI port settings and do the following: If you connect a video game console that supports 4K 120 Hz video output, set to [Enhanced format (4K120, 8K)]. If you connect a video game console that supports VRR, set to [Enhanced format (VRR)]. If you don't configure it, then the console will not utilize VRR or HDR. That is the only thing that took a few minutes to read up and setup, the rest of the TV operation is very smooth. The dark levels are very deep, and the panel has plenty of brightness. In fact, the screen is so bright, I had to turn it down from it's default values, so the HDR range is very good. 4K movies look fantastic, especially when watching UHD Blu Rays. The cons, there aren't many, but here we go: only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, and if you are using external audio system you are left with 1 usable 2.1 port for a console. They should've made ARC/eARC on port 1 or 2, instead of 3. Maybe eARC requires HMDI 2,1 spec, I don't know, but it is a drawback that you are left with one open 2.1 port for a console when there are two consoles on the market that support it. Another would be that it uses Google Android based OS, so you have to configure all the privacy settings to limit activity tracking the OS does. Unfortunately, activity tracking, is the belly of the beast these days when it comes to Smart TVs, regardless of OS used or manufacturer. Overall, a fantastic TV set for the money now that Sony dropped the price. OLED would be of course better, but if you are looking to save a few hundred dollars and still get fantastic picture quality this TV set is worth it.

Brilliant picture and simply works.
I have dreaded "Smart" TVs for the last several years but this TV has changed my mind. Everything works so smoothly and nearly out-of-the-box. I use an HDMI cable to my Denon receiver for the ARC audio only and the only change I had to make was to disable Dolby Digital Plus under the TV audio settings. Without any inputting of manufacturer codes or selecting my receiver model or any of that nonsense, the TV remote fully controls the Denon receiver volume and power. One touch of the power button on the remote turns on/off both the TV and the receiver. UPDATE: It's been almost a year and I still love this TV. The only problem I've had with it is the smart part of it gets a little not-so-smart so I have to unplug the TV for a couple seconds. It's only happened twice, and likely a software bug, possibly caused by a third-party app I've installed. The picture color is stunning. I did see a very slight gray clouding in the lower left-center of the TV when during the TV setup wizard and I was concerned. But when watching actual media, the local dimming technology removes all clouding. The dark scenes are great, and the colors and brightness are amazing. UPDATE 2: After 13 months I'm still enjoying this TV. Be aware that it doesn't support Picture in Picture (PIP). I had wanted to keep an eye on the Sunday football game and was disappointed that there is no support for PIP.

Fantastic TV
You've been searching through customer reviews. Maybe a few too many of them. (You know who you are.) I'm here to save you some time: Just get it already! This is a fantastic TV. I've owned mine for a year, and I am very impressed with it. The colors are super vibrant and bright (especially if you disable auto-dimming, which I prefer off) and will embarrass OLED TVs costing many times more than this Sony. The tradeoff is a small amount of light bleed from the "full array backlight," but it is minimal (you have to actively watch for it to notice it). You can get cheaper TVs from brands that aren't as established as Sony, but you will not get something as well built, with this quality of picture, and it will likely have an annoying interface. Or you can pay WAY more for the same size TV, and get blacker blacks, maybe a few technical wins over this TV when it comes to hard numbers, but you'll most likely be paying double or more for an OLED. This Sony is the sweet spot IMO, and you will not regret buying one. If you really have to spend more, I'd look at the mini LED version. *Note: I have my TV connected to an Nvidia Shield, and don't use the TV's built in OS for much. About the only critique I have, is that it takes a little while to go through all the setup menus when you take it out of the box, but you only have to do this once.

Beautiful picture & sound - well worth the price
This review is for the Sony 85 Inch 4K Ultra HD TV X90K Series: BRAVIA. The TV arrived on schedule. Amazon gave regular updates as it made it way to the house. Signature was required at the door. Accepted the free unboxing option, which was much easier than attempting it solo on this enormous TV. Also made it easier to measure for wall mount and lift with a buddy later. First off, the picture quality is beautiful. Colors are easily tuned to any taste in settings. This has mini array backlighting, not the micro arrays, so it’s not as capable of powering through a bright sunlit room. But if you keep sunny windows from reflecting off the screen directly to you, it’s perfectly bright. Other reviewers have commented on too much diffuse reflection coming from the anti-reflection coating on the screen. I can see where this comes from, but it’s not that objectionable. We have a sheer curtain covering the adjacent patio door, and brightness is set to “Max” - works fine. At night, when most people watch, the screen is plenty bright. In terms of contrast ratios and the darkness of black in images, I find it perfectly deep without bloom/bleeding to gray. This is also very dependent on the content being viewed. All lot of movies & shows suffer from re-production or re-broadcasting quality issues, especially when it’s compressed via your cable box provider. Saw others complain about the viewing angle, but again not an OLED, and I found that by the time you start seeing the LCD decolonization you’re at such an oblique angle that watching the screen from that position is unpleasant anyways. No issues with the internal speakers for sound, richness and frequency range are great out of the box. Can’t comment on the external speaker 3D surround tuning software on board - don’t need it right now. Plug & Play for peripheral ports (HDMI, USB, Network) all worked fine. TV even gave recommendations to change to a different port for better performance of the particular device. I like that you can select whether external devices can turn on the TV - can be a jarring late night surprise. Bottom line is this Sony is a great buy for less than half the price of OLEDs, and it is 85” !!! I mean, geez, it’s huge - plan your wall placement accordingly. Plant a chair in front of it and you’ll never go to the movies again ;)

Great TV Experience/ Lousy WI-Fi Connection, fixable with ethernet cable connection.
Here is a review after living with this TV for a year. What I really like: 1. The picture quality - most of the time. (when it is connected to the internet - see below). I say most of the time because there have been times here and there where the picture has not come in well. Broadcast tv can often get pixelated, but that is usually a function of how I position the indoor antenna and often the weather. But there have been other times (thankfully less than 1 % of the total viewing time) when internet tv can get the weird, fuzzy look that I believe indicates that not all of the data is showing on the screen. For the week since I installed my ethernet cable directly to the router/modem, this has happened far less frequently and for a shorter duration - see more below. After briefly trying out the energy-saving settings where the picture is brighter in bright light and dimmer at night, I wasn't satisfied with the picture quality and turned that off, and have enjoyed a nice, bright (except where you want it black) picture ever since. 2. Speakers/ Sound Quality. I wouldn't say I am an ardent audiophile, but good sound is important, and this tv delivers. I have never felt the need to have a surround sound/ immersive sound experience. But this tv delivers beautiful sound without any added speakers. What irritates about this tv: 1. Wi-fi connection almost always spotty. This means that most of the time (when relying on the wi-fi connection) we were getting at least an "internet disconnected" warning banner popping up on the screen at very annoyingly frequent intervals - sometimes as often as every 90 seconds. None of my other devices in the same room with the TV have a problem staying connected to wifi. As we have relatively fast (about 70 MBPS) internet, and because the tv has ok (4 MB) RAM, more often than not our show would continue to play until we would see an "internet connected" banner pop up again. However, I could never find a setting that would turn off those pop-up banners, so they got very distracting. And there were plenty of times when the connection wasn't re-established within the buffer time, so we were left staring at a spinning wheel screen or "There seems to be a problem with the internet" screen. I don't know why it took me so long to think of it, but I finally thought about running an ethernet cable from the router to the LAN connection on the TV (not easy, as it required pulling a (flat) 25 ft ethernet cable under an 8 ft section of wall-to-wall carpet) and after over a week of this set-up, voila!: connection problem solved! There still have been occasional fuzzy pictures, but that usually seems to resolve to a better picture within about 10 seconds. 2. Google Assistant/ Alexa features underwhelming. In contemplating getting this tv, I was excited to think that I would be able to just ask the TV to turn on and play whatever I wanted. It will do some things - like turn on and off and adjust the volume by voice, but as far as being able to tell Google assistant "Play 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist'", forget it. Google assistant will open the Peacock app, and navigate to the show's screen that has the episode you want to watch highlighted, but nothing you say will make it actually start to play the show. In fact, I had to restart the tv just to get the buttons on the remote control to be able to actually start the episode after I attempted every way I could think to get the assistant to play the show, because, after doing all that, hitting the enter button on the remote when the episode was highligted just continously brought up the little overview video for the show. With Alexa, it's even worse. Google assistant can start a specific broadcast channel for you. It can turn the TV on and off, adjust the volume, and open a specific app, but not launch a specific episode within that app. In general, you are going to always need a physical remote control to easily watch what you want to, at least with streaming tv. So, in terms of this being in general a great TV viewing and listening experience - that is, what you really need from a TV - **with the ethernet cable hooked up**, I give it five stars. Wi-fi connection is 1 star. Google assistant features are 2 stars.

Not high end, but good enough
The best description I have for this Sony 75 inch tv is that its a jack of all trades but master of none. Everything is quite good but not amazing. So dont expect OLED or Mini LED quality, theater level sound, etc. But do expect a solution that is better than a 200$ tv. I have always respected sony, becuase as a company it seems like they always have been dedicated at trying to make each part of the experience as best as they can. To my perception, for the TV with the technology I chose (full array LED) that again is the case. The Sound is leagues better than my LG C1 in my office after using Sony's calibration tool utilizing the remotes microphone. There are visible speakers on the back of the TV which work relatively well in my wall mounted solution. Coming from an OLED, I was worried that it would be hard to go back to a more traditional LED setup, but I didnt trust the hisense offerings for mini LED and didnt have the cash to fork over for a 75 inch OLED. I can report the dimming zones while arent perfect, are good enough for general consumption. For gaming, you still get 120hz but only on 2 of the 4 HDMI ports. You dont get VRR with this model, or at least the PS5 wasnt picking it up. I didnt do major response time checks, but it seems passable compared to older LEDs I have used. The PS5 also gets some fun pairing features with the TV, allowing you to use the TV remote on the console with less latency compared to the LG C1, and some other audio features. Chromecast is also just a great TV feature, and sony's choice to have it built in the TV is great to me. I can shoot VLC media over to the TV without a cable, and guests can shoot media over with their subscription accounts without the need to login to the TV. The remote is also basic when controlling the tv with it, and the menus are much less bloated compared to other models I have used. There is a settings button on the remote that lets you get to important settings like brightness without going through sub menus, which i love. My only real con for this TV is that like older dimming zone TVs i have used, sometimes you get some awkardness where the struggle with their contrast and make some images look less unified. In example, subtitles might have the left portion look more brown where the right side more white. Guess I would need mini LED or OLED to escape it without degrading overall image quality. Also the mounting holes are recessed inside the tvs backplate so you may need to hit up a hardware shop for longer screws if you want to mount it on a wall like I did. Overall im happy with this as my living room TV. I can leave more static images on it with less fear of burn in than on the smaller OLED in my office and price on this at the time I purchased it was near perfect. If I encounter any hardware issues I will update this to include them, but overall my experience has been as expected without any problems.

Received a DoA unit and service was mostly abysmal, but 48 days later got a working TV
Yes lemons happen but pretty frustrating to get a brand new tv at this price and have it not work. Only thing that happens is a flashing red light that blinks 5 times. Screen has never lit up. Yes I did all the troubleshooting you can easily find online and did it again with the rep on the phone. This is not my first Sony Bravia TV. Sony customer service tells me I have to wait 3 business days before reviewing my case which is pretty disappointing not having a plan of action. Of course I’ll update this review if things change and hope their customer service will come through. TLDR SUMMARY ADDED 2/20/23 In the end, I did my part as a customer and followed the good faith directions by Amazon and the manufacturer. My result was being without a TV for 48 days, jumping through hoops and having to put up with anxiety for a brand new big box product I bought. If I knew then what I know now, I would tell myself (and tell you) that I probably would have just sent the TV back and got a new one in half the time I went through the warranty process. If Amazon and TV manufacturers want to sell customers on doing this process (which is fair), they need to focus on delivering empathy and reassurance to the customer that they'll make it right and not make it feel like I must have done something wrong. As a result of all this, as happy as I am as a customer with Sony in the past, my customer confidence in being supported is shaken in them for the future. You have hundreds of reviews talking about the TV itself on Amazon. My initial impressions of the TV itself is I will be very pleased now that I have a working TV. Still, I think charting this story out on Amazon was important because it allows you to see how the quality of service during the warranty process up through delivery. The TV may end up being 4-5 stars in my book, but if you order this and get a DoA unit in the future (which can happen), if you're still in the Amazon return period, consider my experience carefully. My timeline is below including my most recent delivery experience. I want to play with the TV settings more before I give a review on that and update the stars. Still trying to figure out how I score this given the experience I wrote out below. BELOW ADDED 1/14/23 As an update, I waited a full week and received no emails nor phone calls from Sony customer service with an update or a plan for my case moving forward. This morning I called Sony customer service and was told it was assigned to the Engineering department and that the case had not been touched since I called a week ago. He said that department is closed on the weekends but that he will make a note in hopes they will address it on Monday when they return. The agent on the phone was great, but this is poor service. I am still trying to give them the good faith benefit of the doubt, but I'm starting to grow cynical. I was told they'd contact me in 3 business days with a plan forward, and I had to call them after a full week to be told they hadn't touched my case. Having at least a gameplan would make me feel like they are trying to solve my issue. This is my 3rd TV with Sony. This type of customer service for a new product feels unacceptable. UPDATED 1/20/23 So after my updated review and talking to Sony last week, I put a tweet out asking for help from Sony Support US on the same day. They responded asking for a case number and I responded back explaining the situation. They then wrote me telling me the same thing I told them the customer service person told me and said "Please kindly provide us with 24 to 48 working hours, so they'll follow up with you and provide a solution to your case". That brings me to today, 1/20/23 at the end of a Friday business day with no response from them. When I first discovered this problem, I followed Amazon's guidance and worked in good faith with the manufacturer. As a quick summary: -I called on 1/7: was told give them 3 business days -I called on 1/14: was told Engineering hadn't touched the case and it was pending -I messaged Sony support US with the above and they regurgitated what I told them but said give us "24-48 working hours" I have given them 80 working hours (2 full weeks) and I don't even have a plan moving forward. I know Sony is a quality name but BUYER BEWARE ASKING THEM FOR SUPPORT. I don't have much more time to give them before my return window closes with Amazon. If there somehow is an update after this I'll share but I'm doubtful. UPDATED 1/25/23 Today was the day I was going to put in a return request with Amazon and today is when Sony called me. It's been 2 and a half weeks (100 working hours) when I was quoted 3 business days and then 48 working hours. The representative asked me the same questions as the previous person about what troubleshooting steps I went through. I told them the rep went through it with me while on the phone and told them the steps again. They asked if my TV has done anything else other than the red light that flashes 5 times and I said no. He put me on hold and then said my TV needs servicing. From there, he said I was being upgraded to the "concierge department" and it would take 2 business days to hear back from them. I said "so that means you'll call me on Friday". He said yes. UPDATED later 1/25/23 So within an hour of posting the above an incredibly empathic and positive Sony customer service associate called me and absolutely delivered a stunning customer service performance. They were communicative about the process, answered my questions, put together a plan, made sure I had a contact name and phone number and walked me through next steps to get the support I need. I cannot stress how night and day this phone call was vs. the previous communications Sony has had with me. They have instilled hope in what felt like a hopeless situation. I have to take some pictures of the unit before doing next steps. ADDED 1/26/23 So today, a new enthusiastic and empathic customer service staff member called me, confirmed my photos were approved, and said they are delivering a new (not refurbished I confirmed) TV to me. The delivery team is also going to make sure the new TV works, repackage my old TV and take it away. Again, this new associate has NAILED the customer service. I can't stress how dramatically different this experience has been. It is almost as if I'm talking to two different companies. The last 24 hours have been absolutely impressive and they are providing me an incredible white glove service. This just blows my mind. If the front end experience had even a portion of the "concierge team" empathy and communicated a plan I never would have had an issue. I hope that's something they consider in their training plans. Yes, I will continue to update my review and am looking forward to writing about the actual TV itself. UPDATED 2/5/23 Just a quick update. I don't have the replacement TV yet. I did get tracking notification and the website says I should get a call this week to schedule a delivery. My return period with Amazon ends this week so that makes me all in on Sony coming through at this point. UPDATED 2/20/23 So the delivery of the new TV occurred on 2/17/22. Here's how it went down: -Friday night of 2/10 I received an email and automated phone call from the delivery company saying my TV would be delivered the following week and to schedule it through their website. When I attempted to do this a couple times the weekend, my order could not be found. I noted the phone number given to me by the automated bot was different than what was listed on the website, so when I called that I was connected to what seemed to be a smaller delivery company. They told me they make a couple of runs to my area weekly and they would text or email me when they would deliver it. I told them that the instructions referred me to a different companies website and they said they are aware of that being an issue (I'm assuming they were contracted out by the delivery company) -Throughout the week Sony concierge team was checking in and telling me they expected delivery. They said I'd be able to pick my time. They then told me they were told I picked a time of Friday morning 2/17. I did not pick any time. They reinforced that the delivery team would unpack the TV, set it up by placing it on the stand, and plug it in to make sure it works. -Thursday night 2/16 I got a text message and email telling me delivery would happen Friday EVENING 4pm-8pm. Again, there was no option for me to pick a window of time. -The truck pulled up around 6:10pm. One guy pushed the TV on the other guys back and I observed a single person carrying my 65 inch TV over their back and shoulder while the other guy walked behind him. It was not the image you would expect to see of 2 people handling a piece of electronic equipment. -The guy gave me a clipboard with the signature page and instructions. The instructions clearly laid out what Sony expected the delivery to do and I began working through the steps. -They came in, set the new TV down, and took a picture of the old TV we set aside for them to package up. They saw the old TV box we had saved and swiftly took the TV, crammed it in the box with the materials, and took it back to their truck -The guy came back to me asking me if I had signed the clipboard because they were all set. I said yes, but noticing that the new TV was still boxed up, I told him that he still had to set it up and plug it in to make sure it works. The guy took the clipboard and said "no we won't do that". I persisted, telling him again that it is supposed to be unpacked by them and plugged in and he said no, they won't do it and walked out of my house. They were in my house no more than 10 minutes. -There were MULTIPLE labels all over the new Sony TV box that were clear in instruction saying the delivery team was required to unpack the TV and place the OLD TV in the NEW box. Instead, the team used the old box and left us to unpack the TV all over again. Despite this ordeal even with the delivery...I can confirm with you that the TV WORKS. I ordered this TV on 12/31/22 and after 48 days I got a working TV. The picture has been beautiful and it works the way I expected a new TV would. Setting it up on my network was very easy and I spent the entire weekend with my family watching TV and playing games :) I said from the onset I know lemons happen and I trust that what was experienced above by me only occurs 1-2% of the time...or whatever the typical error rate is for TV's being DoA. I've had a good track record with Sony products up to this point, being a Playstation owner and this being my 3rd Sony Bravia TV over the years. Knowing this, I never blinked when ordering a big box item through Amazon online trusting that Sony would come through. When things went wrong and I got a DoA unit, Amazon allows returns but pushes us to make a good faith effort to contact the manufacturer first. I did this, and was met with a horrible front end gatekeeping support. The Sony Concierge team who worked on a solution for me made a heroic effort to restore faith and set things right. I can't speak their praises enough, however the actual delivery was another disappointing experience and not close to the "white glove" the Concierge team asked for rounding out what has been a very frustrating and unsatisfactory support experience. I acknowledge I'm happy with the TV itself, but not with the 2/3 of the service that came off as reluctant and dismissive. Truthfully, my confidence is shaken now for potential future purchases both on Amazon and with Sony. Amazon didn't do anything wrong to be clear, but I don't want to go through this again.

Sony X90K Full Array LED TV is a great option for the budget minded.
The Sony 65inch X90K is a great option when you don't have the bucks for an OLED. Picture is bright and clear. The price, size and 120Hz refresh rate was on my short list. Lots of options for adjustment. Great blacks. Also has a good response rate. Playing games or watching TV is a pleasure. Haven't used many of the features. Have an AV amp along with Roku and Fire TV. Works all but flawlessly with anything I throw at it. Would really like it if it were not a Smart TV. Using the X90K connected directly to a computer most of the time. Watching movies is an event! Works with a desktop via HDMI from an RTX 4070 ti gpu and also an old laptop with a GTX 960m gpu. Only had it about a week now and still tweaking some of the settings. Pleased I purchased it and would do it again unless I had the bucks for an OLED.

buy everything except a TV from amazon.
Has been riddled with problems since the day it arrived. First the sound, then the white lines. Just a pain to keep dealing with Sony service center and lose my TV for weeks at a time. Not what I expected, and i'm wondering if this is an exception or not.

Excellent picture and sound
The picture and sound is excellent. It feels like your right in the action. The remote is intuative and easy to use without looking and having to move your finger all over. The buttons are all close together. The operating system is easy to navigate and you have access to a lot of Apps and Streaming Services. The only negatives are the onboard web browser is very basic and you have to go thru another app to find the Google web browser. I just downloaded another web browser and it works much better. Im not an expert by any means on web browsers but i went thru the app menu and downloaded the Puffin browser and the Odin browser. They work much better than the original app to Google. My usb wireless keyboard works fine with the operating system but my usb wireless mouse does not. The mouse is visible and moves around but you cant click on anything. I have to move the app mouse around with the remote and its kind of awkward. I dont know if I need a true bluetooth keyboard and mouse to have full use of the system, but at this point only the keyboard works. But other than that it operates just like my laptop and im able to use it instead of my laptop most of the time.

Excelente pantalla

If you want the best picture quality, pick SONY
I got this TV and and impressed by the quality. Sony image processing is the best in the industry, but you have to pay little extra for it. It supports Atmos and HDR, comes with Google TV. So it is very compatible and easy to work with.
