This is the same cortado glass used at the top coffee shops all around the country. Originating at San Francisco's Blue Bottle, the cortado is a 4.5oz espresso drink with milk textured as a latte. Sometimes called a gibraltar, this drink epitomizes the third wave coffee movement. This Libbey 4.5oz gibraltar glass is the original and the most popular glass for the drink. With paneled sides and octagonal design, this glass is built for beautiful aesthetics as well as functionality. Thanks to a special thermal after-process applied to the top portion of the glass, you can rest assured that it has exceptional durability to match its looks! This DuraTuff treatment is designed to increase the glass's resistance to mechanical and thermal shock while also making it safer to use.

The Perfect Everyday Whiskey Glass
I drink bourbon and scotch regularly and have typically used traditional rocks glasses or a Glencairn. Both are great glasses and each have their purpose, to be sure. However, a standard pour of whiskey (1.5-2 oz) looks pathetic in a rocks glass and the Glencairn, while perfect for nosing and tasting, can feel too delicate and refined for simply drinking by the fire or in my recliner on a regular evening.Enter this glass. I have provided pictures next to a 750ml Lagavulin bottle to help give a size reference. Filled to the brim, the glass holds roughly 3.5 oz. So, a standard pour fills the glass about halfway...just perfect...you could even throw in an ice cube if you like your whiskey that way (though the larger ice spheres would not fit). The glass has a thick base and walls, and doesn't cost a lot, so I feel good about drinking out of this glass on a daily basis. It weighs 8.7 oz, compared to the 4.7 oz Glencairn, so it has a good weight and feel to it when in your hand.I would buy these again and again, but how many does one need? I bought two. Plus, these things seem pretty durable, so they should last a long time. If you drink whiskey and are looking for a glass, buy at least one of these...but, at the price, you may as well get a pair.

Awesome Cortado Class
I've been using this glass for my morning cortados for about 2 months now. When you pick it up, you can feel how heavy it is and it feels nice in your hand. It's also very sturdy. I would say I'm pretty rough with my glassware but I feel super confident when handling this one.For a cortado ratio, I found that an espresso output of about 30g (15g in 30g out) works best, which ends up somewhere between a flat white and a cortado in terms of the flavor but is what I prefer for myself. Overall, a fantastic product.

Over Priced
Nice glass but VASTLY over-priced! This is not crystal... and why is there no white-line at the double-shot mark? This glass needs to be priced at $2.99/ea ...

Perfect for Espresso Machines
We purchased this to put underneath our home espresso machine - it works perfect! A few thoughts:- Perfect height where its not too big but not too small- The weight and thickness makes it feel very high end, plus helps to contain the temperature of the liquid better- Holds a double shot of espresso with room to spare and is easy to clean- Although we use it for espresso, you could certainly use it for whatever beverage you might need it forI easily would buy this again and would recommend if you are shopping for nice quality glass like this!

Premium presentation without the expense of strength
I manage a café and cortados are my favorite drink. I really fell in love with them at a café called Madcap in MI. It was in part due to the evenness of the drink itself, but perhaps more-so it was the experience. They came out with a tray and on it was a seltzer water and the Cortado in an elegantly simple glass. It seemed to demand attention, and when the attention was given, the drink rewarded you. When it came to serving cortados in my café, I recognized that I couldn't do make this drink without the proper accommodations. After looking on tons of websites at a bunch of brands, I purchased these, and I have been impressed by them every day as have the customers. They have that elegantly simple look and they can withstand more than they should be put through. My one wish is that they held just a little more liquid. They seem to only hold 4.1oz rather than the 4.5oz it says, but this is a small issue if you are good at keeping a level glass.

Sturdy and high quality glassware!
Excellent quality. Very sturdy and perfect for my intended use for espresso and espresso drinks (perfect size for cortados and macchiatos). I got this 1 pack as a tester and now purchased a 6 pack at a lower price also from another seller on Amazon ($7.50 each for this and a little less than $5 each for the 6 pack. This was best price I found unless you get a 72 count).I’m sure this would also serve well as a very large shot glass or whisky glass (but for that use I definitely recommend a Glencairn glass as superior).

Lots of value
I use these gems for a bit of black coffee in the morning, and a shot of alcohol at night. Great value for the money, expensive look and feel and an affordable price.

Very good purchase
These are exactly what I've been hunting for in a whiskey glass. I needed something that would eliminate ice so I ordered these to keep in my freezer. They are the perfect size and have a great weight to them. I placed them in my kegerator for only 1 hour at 37°. The glass gave a perfect quick chill to one of my best bourbons. The quality of the glass is top notch. The glass is crystal clear and I can't find a single flaw (scratch, fog, air bubbles). Very good purchase!

There is nothing like it.
I have tried just about every 'Cortado' glass, and there is simply nothing to compete with the Libby. Yes it's a little pricey, but the difference is palpable. Compared to my Duralex Provence and Picardie glasses, this is just head and shoulders above. The Libby is heavy and solid, the glass cut is fantastic (almost crystal level!), and it feels even sturdier than Duralex (which itself could likely survive a nuclear blast). The heavy thick base protects your table from heat, so no coaster or saucer are needed, and the inside of the base is rounded which hugely helps for pouring latte art. The thickness of the glass also makes it easy to hold when hot, and it stays warm for ages (which is unusual for such a small vessel). There is simply no substitute.EDIT: 2.5 years later and it's still my favourite cup, and the one I use every day. It has survived a few drops and many, many washes, and still looks fabulous. I also discovered, courtesy of James Hoffman, that the 1:1 coffee-milk drink made in this glass (double espresso topped with microfoamed milk) is called a Gibraltar.

Perfect vessel for cortado
The glasses are extremely sturdy and more than fit for purpose. I find I like to pre heat my glass with hot water before making my cortado, that way it stays hotter for longer. Even with the hot coffee in the glass it is still cool enough to handle easily. Although I am more than happy with the glasses I do think they are priced a little high for what they are….. if they were priced at around £10 I would have purchased more of them.

Greatly Exceeded Expectations
I was looking for a good cortado vessel and upon receipt this did not disappoint. The price was a bit of a push back, but after reading other reviews, decided to buy four. There is an amazing feel in terms of weight. I rarely add a photo, however I have here, it does not quite do justice.Sitting on my espresso machine they sparkle, you see hints of the spectrum under our kitchen halogen lights in the morning and evening. I am very very happy with these. These are of such high quality that I have purchased another set for a house warming gift to a friend to rave reviews. They also make great large spirit shot glasses.Made in the USA, I am Canadian and love to support North American made products.
