The Alfred Hitchcock Hour - The Complete Collection

The expansion from a half hour (Alfred Hitchcock Presents) to a full one brought with it the good and the bad- lots of character development; episodes that felt padded; stories that could not have been done justice in the thirty-minutia format; etc., etc. For every excellent show, there was a mediocre one to follow. But given the top-notch casting and acting, not to mention some truly thrilling storylines, the AHH is worth the expense. Vera Miles, Robert Redford, Peter Falk, Bruce Dern, Kim Hunter, Inger Stevens, James Mason, Peter Fonda, and a host of others starred in stories ranging from mystery to horror, suspense to fantasy and science fiction, with the occasional police procedural. Many episodes have the feel of an actual Hitchcock film, aided by Bernard Herrmann's astounding compositions, which gives Hitchcock fans much more to enjoy than just the movies. And given the overall high quality of the writing, direction and editing, these episodes still have the power to shock and/or delight- so enjoy!

So glad I found The Alfred Hitchcock Hour on dvd! I've often fallen asleep when it was broadcast so late at night. To help the reviewers who commented the discs don't play in the US, they do play on my US player (portable Sylvania model SDVD7027-C). I've used the dvd remote before to play non-USA discs by doing the following steps on this model:1. Turned on power,2. Removed dvd,3. Hit "SETUP" on remote,4. Selected "Preferences",5. Hit 9653,6. On the menu, I kept pressing the down arrow until the region code changed from 2 (or 1) to 0.I'm not sure how to change the region without the remote. The seller clearly describes the discs as NON-USA, PAL, region 0 UK format, so I don't know why buyers with players that can't be set to play them would purchase them. Hope this helps.

Liked fast ship from overseas but box had a lot of shelf ware.

The one thing I'll say about this set is "It's a Region 0 release". You Do Not need an All-Region player, at least I didn't, to enjoy the 3 seasons of Alfred Hitchcock Hour. They played on my LG 4K Blu-Ray Player (region 1) without problem. Next on my list - Seasons 6 & 7 of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, which were released by the same company in Europe.So if you've hesitated to make the purchase of this series, due to the region codes, you can purchase with confidence that the 24 disc set will on your North American player.

I give the seller 1star because you cant give 0 stars. I purchased the alfred Hitchcock hour complete collection seasons1-3. But the dvds would not play at all. Kept getting err message.Little did I know it was non usa. Which i might add is Not listed on the dvd. Seller refused to work with me. I'm out of a few pennies shy of $150.00. Item is brand new! Still would sell for less than what I paid. What an expensive lesson. Didn't break me but will know better in the future! Let the buyer beware!

I received my product fast and while it doesn’t play in my Samsung it plays great in my Sony 4KUHD Blu Ray. Which i bought in America I guess it plays all regions because my other dvd doesn’t.I absolutely LOVE Alfred Hitchcock Hour... the dvd set is hard to come by glad I was able to get my hands on the full set. I have so many favorites that I can watch over and over again.

I bought this because I loved the Hitchcock Hour, but only Hitchcock Presents is available in the US, on TV in syndication or on DVD. I was prepared to buy a new DVD player, but that was completely unnecessary. Much to my surprise, this Region 0 DVD set plays flawlessly on any US DVD player (Region 1). The quality is excellent, the programs are the best. Very, very happy with my purchase.

Lots of fun to watch these old shows. Video quality is decent. Buyer's should note that they will need an all-region player for these dvd's. Chalky's does send a reminder email about this prior to shipping.

Wer Serien wie Rod Serling's TWILIGHT ZONE oder Boris Karloff's THRILLER mag,kommt an dieser Box nicht vorbei.Bild- Tonqualität sind sehr gut aber leider keine deutsche Tonspur.Die Stories renomierter Autoren mit einer großartigen Schauspielerelite werden hier mal besser etwas schlechter präsentiert

Du pur bonheur de voir tous ses épisodes de 50 minutes - tous différents, avec du suspense, un vrai fil conducteur, parfois des chutes finales excellentes ! ces films n'ont pas vieillis, je les regarde avec mes ados qui apprécient l'ambiance à suspense (musique, lumière...).Attention juste, en VO sans sous titrage. Excellent aussi pour entretenir son anglais !
