As a triathlete, the one thing I find the hardest is making it to the pool for 2000-4000+ yard days. Especially when you're training at Z2 in a 25 yard pool. You're just going back and forth hoping maybe you'll swallow a little water along the way or something to make things interesting. I was jumping up and down like kid when I found Amazon sells swimming headphones. Still I was on the fence, because I can't even keep ear plugs in my ears, so how would these stay in. Well they arrived and I went straight to the pool after charging and loading some music and podcasts. Here is what I found. 1st - The sound is surprisingly good, I know some reviews said they don't sound that great so I was expecting something awful but really they sound no different than any other headphones in the 20-30 market. 2nd - They provided ear plugs that look like exactly like my swimming ones, and they work well enough that I don't have an issue with water getting in my ear. I did need to use the larger ones. The smaller ones fit well, but I couldn't hear anything under water. More on that later. 3rd - The fit is very good. I always wear a swim cap in the pool because Chlorine really dries my skin out and a cap keeps my scalp from flaking. I put the headphones on, and have the back part of the swim cap over the black band. This method has provided a secure fit for miles on end. 4th - The swim with music.... It's awesome...….. To be able to listen to music while swimming, it's almost relaxing and makes the time go by much, much faster. I noticed the first time I tried them with the smaller ear plugs, which were very secure while land locked, the sound lasted until I hit my first lap. Then it became muffled, you could hear it but not great. I decided the next day to try out the larger pair, even though on land they would barely stay in my ear. What a difference, the sound was very clear under water and I had zero issue of them coming out. I'm a bilateral breather and had no problem on either side. I'm guessing the larger size prevents water from intruding and messing up your tunes. 5th - Battery life is excellent, I can spend 3 hours in the pool and they never once complained or shut off. While my intention was to not use them for running, I actually find them very comfortable and have taken them out for a few long runs. So all in all, I'm impressed. They have far exceeded what I was expecting so for that they get my 5 stars.

I slapped this puppy on the first day I got it and hit the pool. The excitement of hearing music underwater was overwhelmingly awesome. I immediately hit my laps, but noticed water would seep in both sides. No problem. I read the manual and exchanged the ear buds with the largest size. Solid. In fact it was solid for about three weeks. I swam with them every. single. day. And even followed the care instructions of cleansing and drying them after each use ... to the T! Then came day 22 of use. The once invigorating sound of music to my ears was exchanged with screeching noises on my 2nd lap. It was like the sound a discman made when a CD skipped (for those who remember using those) . I took a pause and tried to sort this out. Maybe I forgot to charge the battery enough, or maybe the files were corrupt?Suddenly it worked again. Lap 3 the ghoulish screech returns. ‘Good lord, can I just get 20 more laps with music please’ I said to myself. The Flextreme responded with a final static sounding garbled and went silent. I think it was it’s way of saying something to me that starts with an F and ends with ‘you’. The green light turned off. Hmm, I guess the battery died. I them pulled my mental strength together and returned to the medieval times of swimming without music. It was sad and lonely. How the hell did I do this for so many years? I dragged the heavy 2 ounce device back to my house for a good ol cleaning and charge. I gave this puppy the whole treatment, like a husband taking his wife to shopping with a side of salon time. I charged it overnight. This was a friyay, my night out, so we’re talking a good 12 hours charge. The next morning I tried it out. The green light flashed, no flags went up, I was turning and burning and hoping for a sound, and I finally got ... more screeching. I wasn’t going the distance today. I brought to the pool thinking maybe it will magically work. Nope. Not only did the screeching go away, there was no more green light. Power ceased to exist like a javelin going through a Terminator’s heart. Luckily my beat friend throughout this whole process, Amazon, accepted my return within the short time having it. I feel bad for all those beyond Amazon’s timeline after reading the reviews of Pyleusa’s ‘awesome’ response rate when it comes to defective products. In short, this product had great expectations, but short lived ... at least for me.

I received these headphones a couple of weeks ago and overall I really like them. However, as many reviewers have reported, the darn shuffle feature seemed to refuse to turn off. I am here to tell you how to FIX THE PROBLEM. Background: If you are happy listening to songs in any order, then the shuffle feature works great. However, if you have ever edited a track filename in order to get it into a particular order, say chapters in an audiobook or a set playlist, you have likely been frustrated to find that the the darn player refuses to play ball. Well although the manufacturer never mentions it anywhere, the issue with the Flextreme shuffle feature is that it does *not* index off the file name as you would expect, but rather off the song *TITLE* buried in the mp3 tag. For the uninitiated, Mp3 files can store information such Artist, Song Track, and Song Title, along with other information within the file as something called a 'tag'. While indexing off the Title is annoying, the good news is if the Title field is empty, than the player will index off the file name. As a result, if you want to play songs in a certain order you need to either edit the Title of each file, or blow away the metadata containing the Title. I recommend the latter as you can easily remove tags from all your files at one time using a free Mp3 tag remover such as 'ID3 Kill' or any number of others available for download on the net. As mentioned, once you have deleted the Title, the player will index off the file name and you can enjoy your book chapters or cardio pump playlist in the order that you intended. On a related note, the manual is also unclear how to toggle between shuffle and sequential playback. To turn shuffle on, with the device powered on and playing: 1) hit pause (same button as play), 2) press and hold 'previous' (bottom back button) for about two seconds. If the music starts playing after a moment, then the device has just entered shuffle. If it does not start, than it was already in shuffle mode. To change to linear play mode, repeat the actions above, but press the 'next' button in step two. I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out what was going on, and from the reviews I was not alone. I hope this guide helps!

Nice product, great presentation good performance it last with me about 2 yearrs only suddenly stop working, is charging, but then doesn't turn on anymore. Hard to find head phones with internal memory, it is OK I liked it, I wish last longer, I bought blootooth sony for the same price or less, and those are still working perfectly after over 7 years of use, Sony is really good quality. This pyle are just ok, not sure what happened to them,.

I use this MP3 player during lap swimming and I love it. I’d like to address a few thing from other reviews that almost made me pass on these. 1. Only one side seems to work after awhile - I did notice that occasionally it seemed like one side would stop working but I realized it was because water would sneak in my ear and muffle the sound. All I had to do was pull them out of my ear, let the water out and then the sound was fine again. 2. Adding music is difficult - I used google to buy some music and used google play to create a play list. The MP3 player has a super easy clip to USB cord so I transferred the music easily and all my songs have played well. 3. They fall off or aren’t suitable for lap swimming - I’ve swam for hours and had no issues. I tuck the band under my cap and fix my goggles so that they are partially over the band as well. I learned that they don’t have to be super tight in my ears because if the band is secure then they aren’t going anywhere. I plan to buy a second pair now for my daughter because we like them so much.

Alright, read up, because I'm gonna lay it down for you. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The good is the price. Very good when you stack it up against other underwater mp3's. Also the sound is surprisingly good. I like it better that my 66 audio bluetooth headphones that cost twice as much and only work out of the water. BUT, these are underwater headphones so I'm assuming you're reading this review because you're considering purchase to these things swimming (at least that's why I purchased them). Point being, you can use these above ground and be really, truly happy with them, but when you take them underwater that's where things become troublesome. Sigh. Heres the BAD. Kick flips, forget about it, they come loose and water gets between your ear and the speaker and it's all over. You have to stop and suck out the water, then reinsert it again, and again, and again, until you get mad and it starts to mess with your swim, and you want to give up. Incredibly frustrating. I'd say the only way these things are good are if you are doing the breathstroke, and you are (no offense) swimming like Grandma in which case I'd say GO FOR IT! If you're moving in first gear these will probably work just fine, but if you're trying to actually swim (not even kick flips), good luck, because sooner or later they're gonna come loose and then it becomes a losing battle, once the water gets in between you and the plugs, which do not fit very well, you are done for. They don't fit well.. the various size plugs that come with it are not good... I mean they come with a large and a small insert for swimming and then a small, medium, and large insert for wearing them dry. Why would they give you three options for wearing them dry and two for swimming when they are designed to be underwater? Shouldn't it be the other way around?! It doesn't make sense. Truly. They don't fit well in any case. Sigh, again. Now the UGLY: the charge doesn't last all that long. They start chirping pretty quickly (after two hours), or one of the earphones will just suddenly go out while the other one continues to play. It's really weird, and you have to sit there and figure it out. Then you charge it up and then everything works fine, and meanwhile none of this is covered in the documentation, so you have to be clever to figure it out and beat the system. Trial and error is in order if you want to win. Read other people's reviews and I think they'll echo my sentiments. It's like WOW, we all really want these things to be great, and they kind of are, but not really. They are equal parts brilliant and frustrating. Here's the NECESSARY work around that I've discovered to make this headset functional...use them underneath a very tight over the ears silicon swim cap. That keeps them in place and keeps the water out. That's the only way these are worth a dime, other than that they're a steaming hot pyle.

I purchased this product as a replacement for my old player (Pyle) which I have misplaced (or the cat stole it and it's under the couch). Used the old one for 8 years with no problems. Plusses on the new version - doesn't have all the stuff I never used on the original (radio, pedometer, etc.) Doesn't seem to have a lock which really annoyed me. The sound is very good. Will take a little getting used to the headphones but I think it will be much better than the old one with long wires attaching to a player that was clipped to my swimsuit. Was very easy to add music on to it but only because I already had the files formatted and knew how to do it from my previous player. Detailed directions are not included. I'm not very tech savvy these days. I used it today and found it to be great for deep water aerobics. No swim cap. Can't comment on how it works with one. Would highly recommend. The last few weeks of water exercise has been SO boring without my music. I'm very happy again.

I've owned 4-5 pairs of these over the years, and they used to be GREAT. But apparently, they couldn't leave well enough alone and had to make CHANGES to them that have SEVERELY depleted the quality. Here's what you can expect. THE GOOD I've owned several of these over the years, wearing them almost exclusively as my "water" headphones and they are fantastic in that capacity. On the water, under the water, chlorine pool, saltwater ocean--doesn't matter, you get good sound no matter what. Is it as good as my PowerBeats Pros? Probably not. But I also can't wear my PowerBeats at the bottom of the pool (or anywhere in the pool for that matter) and these are a fraction of the cost. It's also pretty easy to load with music. You just hook it up to your computer via USB, and drag and drop the mp3 files. 8gb is enough for around 1000 songs. Once you're wearing it, it's easy to control once you know where the buttons are. Battery life is solid. I think the 10 hours that are advertised is about right. I've taken these on vacation and these last all day at the beach. Recharge usually takes a few hours. THE BAD The charging cable is pretty unique--I don't think it's proprietary because I've had similar chargers with similar earbuds, but it's also not something you'll be able to pick up at Wal-Mart if you lose it. The simple controls come at a cost as well. You can either play the songs you have in the order they are on your player, OR you can randomize your songs. When you power it off/on it'll start wherever you left off. So if you have a lot songs on your player, and you just heard it--it might be a while until you hear it again. In the same vein, random means random--NOT we'll play every song once until we go through them all. Normally, this isn't an issue, but every now and then you'll get a wonky random sequence that will repeat songs that you already heard. If you want a specific song, you're pretty much at the mercy of the player as to when you'll hear it. THE UGLY The band that connects each earphone is pretty awful. The band USED to be a nice stiff-but-flexible wire that made it easy to mold the earphones to your specific head shape and ears--especially when it was on your head. You basically bent it to wear the way it was the most comfortable, and that was it--it would stay that way until bent significantly in another direction. Now, it's all springy, rubbery, and weird and you can't really adjust it. Plus the actual ear bud can have a tendency to pop out of your ear now because the band wants to spring back to its original position. The old band was better by a country mile. My first few pairs of these, I would get around 2-3 years of use before they gave out. While that isn't really the best, given the frequency I used them and the price I paid for them--I found it acceptable. I don't know what changes they made, but now my LAST two pairs have lasted a couple MONTHS. One pair, no matter what button you pushed--volume, power, whatever--each button would only advance the song. The other pair reached a point where no matter what button you pushed, it would beep. Both pairs would eventually just stop working altogether. OVERALL My original review for these was four stars, but they've honestly ruined most of qualities that were attributed to that review, so now its this one. These USED to be my go-to headphones that had unmatched capabilities in the water. Now they're pretty much junk. I won't be buying a 6th pair.

Love it. Once you get it right in your ear in the pool, which I did quickly, it works really well. Really easy to add music. Makes swimming so much more enjoyable. Swimming much further as a result.

It has suddenly stopped working

Used for half an hour. So far everything is good. Button responsive, sound quality ok, comfort is good. I'll say value for money.

If you are like me it can be boring doing lane swimming but with this kit it makes it more fun listening to music. It sits very comfortably in the ears and around the back of my head and doesn't move when you are swimming. Music quality is very good and gave no issues at all
