Model E101 Eco-friendly Erhu Beginner level Chinese fiddle

If you're looking for an erhu for the first time, here it is. The instrument is better the fair. I like the sound that it produces. (The sound and appearance of the instrument were what attracted me in the first place).When you do get it, the instrument will not sound at its best right away. After setting it up properly, you'll have to spend time playing it until it sounds the way it is supposed to. I am a violin, cello, viola player, so it's easier for me to start playing this instrument.If you're desperate in learning an exotic musical instrument, this is it!

-The erhu came a month earlier than I anticipated (which was a fabulous surprise). Well-packaged, safe and snug in foam wrapping and styrofoam. The extra strings and little pieces were included inside of the bag.-It was in pristine condition, already assembled, with ALL of the components as described, + dropbox links for the instructional videos. Double-checked item description. Looks like they've finally gotten tired of the DVD issue, so they've decided to provide online links provided on a slip of paper so we can access the lessons online, instead. I like this; it's very convenient.-The bow hair for my bow was white, not black.-It's obvious that this erhu isn't exactly a top-notch quality instrument. But for its price, it's definitely worth buying (as a student). The sound is still beautiful, with a warm, mellow quality. A little rosin works wonders, by the way. The rosin provided with the erhu isn't worth using. I suggest using different rosin.-The erhu's tuning pegs fit firmly into the holes, and doesn't slip or fall out. I don't hear any weird tinny vibrations or shudders when I play it. The erhu seems pretty sturdily put-together, and looks like it'll last you as long as you take care of it.-The quality of the soft case is actually quite excellent, and the erhu fits in it nicely. There is a zip pocket in the front for your string packets, any extra bridge pieces, sponges, rosin, etc; it also has a sturdy shoulder-strip on the other side.Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

The foot of my ehru, which contains the python skin, was confiscated by US Fish and Wildlife service. Python skin in on the CITES II list of illegal wildlife imports. I am furious that the Amazon page for this ehru doesn't give any warning about importing animal parts from other countries. The seller also doesn't mention this huge problem. Therefore, since I have come to trust Amazon as a place that doesn't sell illegal goods, I assumed it was safe to buy this instrument from China. I just assumed that python skin was legal to import--in fact, I didn't even think about it any more than I would about importing a CD.I just contacted the very nice man at US Fish and Wildlife who confiscated that part of my erhu. He said everyone in his office has confiscated numerous items from this seller. After looking through the illegal wildlife imports list, it is clear that many animals parts and even woods that I assumed were not endangered are in fact endangered and illegal to import. So I'm not even sure I would buy another instrument from this seller that was 100% wood.I could go through a legal process to claim my erhu foot but I have no intention of doing so. I am fed up with this seller!(Also, the instructional videos and one string were missing, so I wouldn't have been able to use it anyway.)

The Erhu came in great condition and was what I was expecting. The shipping from China took about 2 1/2 weeks, which was actually shorter than expected. The only issues that I've had were that (a) the bow seems very cheap compares to the rest of the instrument, and (b) I didn't receive the instructional dvd, which made setting up my erhu for use far more difficult and confusing. I eventually remedied both issues by buying a better bow and an instructional book written in English, but still, it would've been nice to have had the dvd that is advertised as being included.

This is the best beginner of chinese musical instruments. It sings to you. Everything you need to make it sing is included along with the Erhu. There is no mistaking that once you start to learn how to play on this, you will not stop. The bow is more professional style, and the horse's hair is genuine. Even if you have problems, you can get in touch with someone who can help you. The video, altho spoken in Chinese, relates in subtitle English in order to understand what is being said. That video that came with it is such a great help. As long as you use it in the fashion it was intended, it will sing to you forever. It is the best product I have purchased so far.

I bought this erhu, because I felt inclined to learn a new instrument.It's fun to play. . . .like stupid fun to play.It has a very warm sound and perfect volume. I use it to serenade my dog as he sleeps. He absolutely hates it, but I think it's brill.I sounded like complete butt for about the first week, but now it's all purdy and what have you.Things that suck;Shipping is abnormally expensive. Basically more than the instrument itself.I didn't receive my "instructional DVD" (however, I don't need that biollocks. I'm the lizard king; I can do anything.)Anywho, minus the quid for the shipping, it did arrive quite quickly, and I haven't really stopped playing it. Quality is actually better than I expected. Cheaper bow, but it does the job quite well.
