Still 260? Scroll up and buy it right now
Is the s62 better? Probably. But if this is still 260, it is absolutely the best gadget for a golfer to have on their wrist. The bad? Here goes. It’s not winning any beauty contests. To keep it light it’s hard plastic. The battery isn’t that great, I only wear it golfing and I keep it plugged in with it’s proprietary cable. In gps golf mode it will drain 20% doing 9 holes. It has missed a swing here or there. You can only edit what club you used later in app and that is not fun, but doable. I had one issue where it drained itself one night after I unlplugged it and once it didn’t want to turn on. Searching for gps satellites takes a long time to do. For some reason you need two apps on your phone But for a second, pretend you thought, yes, but it’s 260 bucks. And you bought it. You plug it in to charge, it takes forever to turn on, you link it your phone, you set up your clubs, and you watch a YouTube video on what settings to turn on in the golf app. You go play. You walk up to the tee, you quickly move the flag using your touchscreen and you are almost if not as accurate as guy using rangefinder. You choose your club and after swinging touch the watch to tell it what club you used. Every club but putting. And you do your his for every club. At the end of your match, it syncs with your phone and you have beautiful full color pictures of every hole and how you hit. It starts tracking your handicap. It tracks your club distances (and you can access this from your phone). Your scorecards, all on your phone for forever. You can go back and look at pictures. Screenshots to text your friends. No guessing what your 160 yard club is. If you golf a lot, you should own one of these. Period.

great golf gps option, even for small wrists
Works great, was a bargain at $265 compared to its original $500 price tag. At some places it's $250 or less, but I appreciate the Amazon return policy in case something's wrong with it. Battery life is sufficient, way better than the Samsung Active 2 that I was wearing before, not enough for 36h most likely, but I only play 9 or 18 so it's fine. Super comfortable, non-gps battery life is several days, always on display and easy to read in daylight, using it as my everyday watch now. Used to carry around a garmin g80 on the course in my pocket which was annoying; now I have less crap in my pockets, and since its on the wrist it's a lot more accessible for reviewing yardages, entering club data and strokes, etc. I have a tiny lady wrist, 6" circumference, and I worried how the watch would fit but it's fine. The band is comfy, I'm on the 4th hole on the strap from the smallest setting, the strap doesn't make my skin break out, it's a little big but it's passable, just looks like a big outdoorsy fitness watch. Has all the golf functions anyone could wish for: plays like distances, touch targeting and hole overview and flag positioning, club distance tracking and automatic swing sensing, scorecard function, compass for blind shots, relatively accurate measurements, compiles performance stats. If you really play 36h regularly then the S62 might be worth the $500, but for the rest of us mere mortals that play 9h or 18h this S60 is a great half-cost option with nearly all the same functionality.

Update and apology - this watch is ok
I am hereby retracting my original review, altho leaving it's text below as a reminder to be honest and humble. While I was originally very disappointed with this watch, half of that disappointment was easily fixed after receiving quick support from Garmin. And over the course of the years since, I've used this watch and found that its functionality, while occasionally a bit finicky, is probably what the company promised and thankfully quite useful on the golf course. As I may have noted before, I think Garmin is a fine company and have actually bought their lower priced model as gifts for friends 5 times, but to show you the extent to which i am retracting my original review, if I had to replace my watch, i would very likely just purchase the same model again. So, go ahead and buy this watch. Original review: Do not buy this watch. I've owned this watch for over a year now and have been thinking about writing a review which a) warns consumers not to buy this watch but b) consider buying the Garmin S20, but the performanc of this watch warrants a strict Don't Buy review. When I was originally considering buying a golf watch, I presumed I just needed a yardage measurement function, but the marketing verbiage described a watch which could do all sorts of interesting things, perfect for the avid golfer who wants more apps and statistics to measure progress. But two problems exist: first, some of the functionality - for example, swing speed measurement - isnt included in the actual watch and requires either other purchases or other apps which sounded way too complicated to bother with (and I generally like gadgets). BUT THE UNFORGIVABLE THING is that the watch just isnt reliable. I have played 4 rounds this year, and in the first round at the Presidio in San Francisco, the watch just stopped working at the 5th hole. No matter how many times I tried to advance the function, or restart the golf mode, or even turn the watch off and on, it just kept stuck at the 5th hole. And then 2 weeks ago, I was playing in New Jersey, and the golf functionality wouldnt even turn on, again after turning the watch off and on and actually rebooting the watch MULTIPLE TIMES. So, I spent several hundred dollars on a watch which just cant give me the simple distance to the green when i need it. This is completely unacceptable. Before my first round of the year I was prepared to write a review saying "dont buy the S60 but think about the S20" because I had bought the S20 for 2 golfing friends over the holidays and they both seemed happy with it after their first round. But the performance this year is so bad, I think it would be wrong to suggest to golfers that any Garmin golf watch is a safe purchase.

Game changer
This watch is an amazing tool that is helping me become a better golfer. The GPS is incredibly accurate; I hardly use my rangefinder any more. I love the scorekeeping too. You can zoom in and get yardage to hazards on each hole from where you are. It always shows the distance to the green from wherever you are, and the distance to your last shot, so as soon as you go to your drive, for instance, you know how long it was, which is great when you hit a good one. One of the best things is reviewing your round in the app. You can look at every hole and it shows every shot you made and how long it was. This can really hurt your feelings when you did poorly, but it's awesome on the good ones. It also interfaces with your smartphone and gives you phone, message, and email notifications, which I love (you can decline calls from your watch!). It counts steps, but it does not have a heart rate monitor (that's probably the only con I can think of for this watch). Expensive but worth every penny.

Terrible watch!! Read my whole review
First and foremost the watch just shut off and never turned back on. Thought the battery died but nope. It just shut off after 3 weeks. First off the directions were a small page. Seriously for a watch that does so much it gave you nothing to guide you through the golf functions. Prepare to watch a whole lot of YouTube videos over and over to figure it out. In golf app was a pain. Getting back to to full view after zooming in was not simple. Every time I’d get on the green it was already asking my final score. The rest of the apps didn’t add any value to the watch. In my opinion a golf watch that shows you front, middle and back of the green is just as good or better. I found that just using my judgement as I always did was way more accurate than the watches club recommendations. Absolutely not worth the money or the amount of time spent figuring out how to use it

Don't let the bad reviews fool you...
Outstanding watch in all aspects. I've been using it as an everyday watch for about a month and love it. I see a lot of negative reviews so I'll try to address common complaints: Pairing - once you download the Garmin Connect app it's a breeze, no issues here. Directions - true, they don't come with the watch, but are easy to find on Garmin's website. I found them very helpful, and easy to read. Functionality - some have had trouble using it. If you don't consider yourself mildly tech savvy, this watch has too much horsepower for you. There are several screens and almost endless options, which could overwhelm some. Everything is customizable - you can turn features on and off. If all you need is front/middle/back distances this is a bit of overkill. Battery - in GPS mode it is average, very good in watch mode. There are many options to save on battery life. Software - updates when you sync with the Garmin Connect app, no issues with black bars some have mentioned. Price - sure it's not cheap, but considering the fact that you can wear it as an everyday watch, the endless features: swing tempo, shot tracking, stat tracking, step tracking, sleep, biking, swimming, walking, running, etc. you might be able to justify the cost. Bottom line: this is the best golf watch out there with all the bells and whistles, go for it!

Not Impressed with Watch
Overall the watch does what it's supposed to but its got some issues that keeps it from being a great golf watch. The battery life is bad. You can get through a round on a full charge but you will definitely need to charge again before going out again. Even in just "watch mode" it consumes a lot of the battery faster that it should. The screen is too dark. In bright/directly sun light its fine but in the car or riding in a cart you always have to put the watch in direct light to really see the screen. Also a bit of a challenge with sunglasses on. It's a little bit slow when switching screen view...I have to wait 5-10 seconds for screens to change. Does seem like a big deal but its frustrating to have to wait for the screens when you are trying to decide what to do. I find myself not using some features because it take too long to switch screens. I don't use the watch as a watch very much but when I do the screen (watch face) always has a double/blurry image. If you press a button on the side it clears itself but you shouldn't have to do that. I like being able to move the pin around on the Green view but it's a little challenging to touch the screen in just the right spot. This happens just because there is really only so much room on the face - if you have large finger pads, Good Luck! This is also a bit of a problem when trying to measure distances - difficult to select the correct location...then if you have to do it again...its slow! I like the watch but I'm not 100% certain that it was worth the price. Might consider a small hand-held GPS device if you really like the idea of a color screen that you can use to measure distance.

Excellent watch. And no, it's not rocket science
Watch worked out of the box. Immediately synched with Garmin Connect, no issues. Played 18 today, watch had 92 percent batt when I started, ended round at 58 percent. That was using every feature including auto shot tracker and scoring. Watch very customizable. Can download different apps and watch faces and it's super easy to do. It's basically a slimmed down Fenix 5. It's 46mm so it's the perfect size (tho many women may not like that big of a watch) These bad reviews are strange. I never even read the manual and figured it out in 5 minutes. It literally was plug and play. And no. You don't need a computer. Everything can be done on the app. And if you own a cell phone you own a block to charge it. Not sure why so many people think they need to buy a charging block 😂😂 Your TV USB will even charge it. Or as I said, your phone block. Or iPad. Or kindle. Any block that takes USB will charge the watch. Silly people. The watch auto shot and tracker was awesome. Maps out distance and where the ball landed, which is reviewable after the round when you sync to garmin connect. Then you just tap the scorecard and scroll through the holes at the bottom and select which you want to look at. Scroll left and right to go through all of them. I also own game golf live which I now will sell (no more tagging my shots!) I'm beyond pleased with the S60.

Good but has couple minor flaws
Great and accurate. A couple times it stayed on same hole I just finished so I had to start a new round. Which isn't hard to start back up but annoying. Battery lasts about 36 holes. So it's just used when I play.

Absolut Spitze
