Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade, 2lb with Powder Duster Included in the Bag

This stuff is great. I use it indoors and outside to deter bugs. I've used it for years and can say without a doubt it kills bugs. You will need to reapply if it rains and such but it's safer than spreading chemicals everywhere. Chemicals might be needed sometimes in some situations, but prevention is always the best road to take. Don't use it outside in heavy wind and if you're not used to using the spreader they provide in the bag yet, I recommend using a face mask until you get the hang of it so you don't breathe it in. Don't spread it inside or outside if your pets are right next to you so they don't breathe it in either. If they eat it or roll in it, no worries, it's non-toxic and won't harm them. I think this product is overpriced but will definitely purchase again, which is not a usual shopping behavior for me, but I'd rather overpay a bit than deal with bugs. Every bag of diatomaceous earth I've bought from this brand has been consistent with quality, even the pump-sprayer they include. I usually use this brand inside my house and use a different (somewhat lower quality) brand from a local supply store outside just to be cost-effective. If there is a specific need for it, I use this brand outside instead just to be sure. Buy it, use it, and see for yourself.

If you're not a farmer you still need this. This is food grade safe for people and animals. Diatomaceous earth. It gets rid of spiders, chicken mites, intestinal parasites, flies, their larvae. Old school farmers used to take some in their coffee for internal parasites. It can be used for you or your critters. Just make sure you don't breathe in and you're not standing in the dust, it won't hurt you on the inside but it can hurt your small soft stuff. You don't want it in your eyes and you don't want to breathe it in. This one has a wonderful squirt applicator so you can poof a cornered chicken or get the corners of your coop or put a line behind your stove and fridge, so you can get that sweet spot in the pen where your pigs like to hang out. It's good. It has so many great applications. We had an infestation of mites in the house because of a curly-headed child sticking their head in the coop to get eggs. We didn't know for quite a while when we figured it out it was bad. We powdered the room closed it up. Let it sit for a week just to be sure (All of our skin was crawling. Yuck!!) went back in and vacuumed it up and started trying to find anything alive. Nothing!!! It's magic and it's harmless to us!

I've had very good results using this for ant control. The included duster makes it easy to apply into cracks and gaps, around entry points, and other areas where ants tend to travel. It might feel like soft powder in in your hands, but at the microscopic level, this stuff is super sharp, and cuts ants like crazy when they walk over it. Any ant that walks through this ends up literally dying of a million cuts and drying out. One of the biggest advantages is that it's simply food-grade diatomaceous earth with no added chemicals or fillers. That makes it easy to use around the kitchen which is likely where they're invading looking for food, and also where you absolutely do not want to spray insecticides, having them walk through said insecticides, and then walking all over and contaminating everything in the kitchen. The 2-pound bag goes a long way, and a light dusting is usually all that's needed. Just be aware that it works best when kept dry, so outdoor applications may need to be refreshed after heavy rain.

I’ve been dealing with a roach problem in my kitchen and garage, and after trying sprays and bait traps with mixed results, I decided to give Harris Diatomaceous Earth a shot. I’ll be honest—it’s messy. The fine powder gets everywhere if you’re not careful, and applying it takes some patience. But once it’s down, it works. Within a few days, I started seeing dead roaches around the areas where I applied the powder, which was honestly a huge relief. It’s nice knowing this is a natural, chemical-free option, especially since I have a small dog. The key is to apply a thin layer in areas where roaches travel. A couple of things to keep in mind: It can be dusty, so wearing a mask while applying it is a good idea, and it works best in dry areas since moisture can make it clump or smear as you see in the second photo. Cleanup can be a hassle, but for something that actually gets rid of roaches, I’ll take it. If you’re looking for a solid solution and don’t mind a little mess, this is worth trying.

I bought the food grade DE for one specific purpose and it was to kill fleas off my dog and around the house. If you're in desperate need to kill fleas from your dogs (I don't know about cats) then you need this especially if you're going through a current infestation like I was. Diatomaceous Earth is a great natural flea and pest killer. On a microscopic level, the powder looks like tiny shards of glass. It is a drying agent and will pull the fats, oils and lipids from insects that crawl over the powder. The powder microscopically punctures the body of the insect. For my dog, instead of sprinkling it on him since it gets very powdery in the air. I use a small blush brush, eyeshadow/concealer brush, or any small paint brush will do. Be sure to use gloves because the powder can also dry out your hands. I leave the powder on my dog overnight and gave him a nice bath the following day. He didn't lick his body. You want to leave the DE on the dog for at least 24 hrs. He now has to deal with the leftover bites but there are no more fleas on him. To treat the house, I sprinkled the powder where the base boards are and any room that I haven't used in awhile but are now using. All corners, nooks, and crannies. Left the powder there for a day or 2 or 3. Afterwards, I vacuumed the powder. I have actually seen dead fleas and bugs overnight in the powder. It's pretty amazing. I'm keeping this on hand for general use and is a far better alternative than pesticides. It's quick and simple. I'm happy to report that there aren't anymore fleas in the house. As a plus, this is also safe to sprinkle in your yard (that's not wet). My dog didn't care for the powder. He did sneeze a bit like humans would if powder gets in his nose. Otherwise he was ok. Remember to always get the food grade version of treating your house and your pets.

I had an ant infestation in my kitchen and living room. I tried cleaning and vacuuming everything, but that only seemed to draw them out even more. The problem is, I have a lovely, curious cat who once had to be rushed to the pet ER for chewing on a block of rat poison. So poison ant bait was out of the question. Food grade diatomaceous earth was the solution. It dries out anything with an exoskeleton, turns them into lifeless husks. But harmless for pets or kids if they accidentally eat it. I applied the powder everywhere I’d seen ants, focusing on cracks in the wall, under carpets, behind bookshelves, inside cabinets. A light dusting is really enough. Fill the applicator only half or a quarter full or you’ll end up applying too much. And though the directions tell you to hold the applicator so the powder is on the end where the nozzle connects, trust me, that’ll make you over-apply too. Keep the powder on the opposite end to where the nozzle connects. Be prepared for there to be a LOT of dust in the air. You *must* wear a good mask, like an N95, to protect your lungs because the powder can be very irritating if you breathe it in. And trust me, the air gets filled when dust when you apply. After applying, vacate the room, open the windows and give the dust in the air an hour or two to settle. Also, order yourself a small paintbrush, that’s really helpful in sweeping the powder around and evenly distributing it if you over-applied or getting it into cracks. If you need to clean the powder up, a wet paper towel does the best job, though that deactivates its bug-killing properties, so be careful. Before I applied the DE, I was seeing ants all over my kitchen, maybe squashing five or so a day. During the three days after application, and I have only seen one, singular ant, and I don’t think he was long for this world. DE, I thank you and my cat thanks you.

Diatomaceous earth is surprisingly effective at killing bugs – bedbugs, unwanted beetles, spiders, etc. This particular brand didn’t seem as potent as other ones I’ve used, and honestly, it wasn’t a great price. My roommate asked me to order this because it had the duster in it. I would have just picked some up at the store, for less. But – if you want to order from Amazon, this is probably as good as you can find! As long as you don’t grieve it in, it’s pretty safe stuff. It gets a little messy, but you can just sweep and then vacuum to clean up. It is a fine dust, so just be aware of that.

I specifically bought this to fight bedbugs, ants and roaches and so far it's has been working like magic. 100% recommended over chemicals and sprays. The bottle that comes with makes super to spread an even mist 👍

Works very well and I'm pleased that the sprayer was inside the bag. Make sure you wear a mask so that you don't breathe it in . I use it around the garden, for pesky insects around the house . Love the stuff.

I had an infestation of either pill bugs (roll into a ball) or sow bugs (curl into a 'C') that ate three of my fibrous begonias when they ran out of rotting matter to eat. I tried beer traps (which, unfortunately, worked on other beneficial insects but not a single pill or sow bug) and tape traps (not a single bug) which is when I decided to give diatomaceous earth a try and I haven't lost a single plant since dusting them so I guess it works. Note that this is very fine powder and it will go everywhere if you use it indoors, so don't use it right after dusting because you're going to have to dust your house again afterwards. I found that using the duster container-side down was too light of a dusting (but maybe that's actually enough -- I'll try just that next time) but still launches a cloud of almost invisible dust that you won't notice until you see it in a sunbeam (which is when you'll realize the entire floor you used this on is now dusted). Using this container-side down with a light press will drop small mounds of dust which may be ideal if you just want it on the soil. Using a hard-press container-side down gives you a nice heavy dusting (whether that's too much I don't know but since the bugs are gone it definitely did the job) but you'll need to clean the leaves off at some point unless you like your plants looking like a black-and-white photo. I wore protective eye wear and a mask when applying this but, as I mentioned, the dust goes everywhere so I did breath some in and get some in my eyes but neither my eyes nor throat seemed particularly irritated as a result. It's food grade so you don't need to worry about swallowing it -- it's just your eyes and lungs you need to protect. This 2 kg bag was about ten or twenty times more than I needed so I'll have lots if I ever have problems with ants or earwigs or whatever someday in the future. If you're using this outdoors I think it would probably be enough for several applications of a large backyard vegetable garden.

Works amazing. I used it on a couple of wasp nests that were in my eaves and they were gone within days. The only draw back was that the bag wasn’t sealed properly when I received it so the box was full of the powder. I ended up loosing about a quarter of the bag. They should look at heat sealing the top edge so that doesn’t happen. Other than that the product was great and the puffer works well.
