One of the sharpest knives in my kitchen.
I cook quite a lot and sharp knives that hold their edge are very important to me since a sharp knife is much safer to use than a dull one. I have quite a few knives in my collection that include some of the more expensive ones such as Shun. In my search for knives a few years ago, I learned a lot about the metals used for knives, the importance of the angle of the blade, and the forging of the blades that held the sharp edge for the longest. I decided to try the Hoshanho knives, in spite of the lower prices on sale, since they met all of the criteria for high quality knives. In the past, I have tried quite a few of the higher priced brands, and found that many of them had to be sharpened out-of-the-box. I have used this knife a few times, and it cuts through everything easily with no effort, including tomatoes, potatoes, roast, etc. This chef's knife is my most used knife for cutting, chopping, slicing, and dicing, and I am very much impressed with the ease all of these tasks have been accomplished. I have ordered a few of the Hoshanho knives after initially ordering a couple of them. I am blown away by the sharpness of these knives when I received them. I love the appearance of these knives with the Pakkawood handles and the weight of them is perfectly balanced. A simple rinse with hot water is all that is needed to clean them. Since I have had this knife for a short time, I can't attest to the durability, but I will update this review if my opinion changes. I hope this review was helpful for you.

WOW. Fantastic knife for the money. Do not hesitate to buy this knife!
TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY. I am chef in a very busy kitchen and I have a knife in my hand at least 6 hours a day non-stop.... I was needing to replace my work horse knife but really not ready to spend $200 for a new one. I looked on Amazon and read the reviews on this knife and it was at a discounted price so I said okay I'll give it a try... I buy really expensive knives and I can tell you that I don't think any of them are better than this one. This thing comes sharp I actually cut myself twice the first day using it (this is actually a good omen with a new knife). This knife is extremely comfortable in your hand, which was what I was looking for, and it slices through vegetables, meat like a razor blade. The quality feels amazing, it is super balanced not heavy but not light either. I am sold on this and will buy other knives from this brand should it stay sharp and hold up. I will update later to let you know how that goes. BUY IT! I LOVE IT!

Amazing knife
Extremely well made knife , comes very sharp right out the box which is perfec, nothing beats that factory edge on a new knife. It’s a well balanced knofe and feels great in hand. Easy to grip and use with its handle design.

Go ahead and "cut" to the chase. This is a keeper.
I am a knife nut. This piece is very well made. The handle fits in my small to medium hand as if it were born there. Balance? Oh yes! This knife has great balance. Its blade is chef-sharp and solid. I have successfully sliced raw beef, turkey breast, chicken, and pork for jerky; as well as fine veggie prep for sushi. What a pleasure to work with. Cleaning is easy, but please, do show it the respect it deserves by never putting it in a dishwasher. In fact, no bladed kitchen tool should ever go in the dishwasher, including a vegetable peeler. I carefully wash the knife in soapy water and dry it with a soft absorbent cloth. It is then stored with on my knife magnet alongside of its "siblings" where it will stand at attention until summoned for the next culinary assignment. I purchased this knife at a slight discount, yet after working with it multiple times, I would not bat an eye over its regular price. Great value for the money!

Well made knife
It's pretty good, it's sharp. I owned 3 knifes from this company. I bought it 1 by 1. I like this one and 6 inch one but don't like it too much of paring knife because I cut myself few times and bleeds. It's good knifes. I like to try bread cutter and sharpening tool from this company

Excellent and more than worth the price
Excellent knife -- and I have had French Chef knives for more than 50 years and this one is top end for handling and especially for sharpness. The 13 degree knife edge is incredibly sharp and goes through onions without crushing the juice out, so no crying. Also slices tomatoes so thin you can see through them! Easy clean up and unlike my old carbon steel knives, which are also razor sharp, this one doesn't appear to be troubled by cutting high acid foods. The "pinch grip" is my long-standing way to use these knives because it gives you excellent blade control and the handle and blade design work great for that. All in all, especially for the price, these are great knives to anyone who regularly uses a French chef knife. Only word of caution -- they really, really are sharp, so sharp if you use the blade to lift veggies off the cutting board, you have to be careful not to cut the board!

Worth the Price.
This knife is impressive. I'm not a chef, but I do like to use the smoker and the grill. This knife made trimming meats and chopping vegetables a breeze. I highly recommend.

Efficient kitchen knife
I bought this knife as i needed one just for fruits and vegetables. It has good ‘weight’ and the design of the handle is ergonomic so it feels comfortable. The blade is also the right size for me. Am happy with my purchase.

Excellent value chef knife — comfort and geometry sold me
TL;DR: I researched Zwilling, Wüsthof, and Dalstrong, but this knife had the exact features I wanted at a much lower price. Bought it on a discount thinking it was low risk — it ended up becoming my go-to chef knife. I don’t usually write reviews, but this knife earned one. For context, I’ve been using a Henckels Fine Edge Forged knife set for about 10 years. It’s not a high-end set — I bought it at Canadian Tire — but with regular sharpening it’s been reliable and has served me well. I’m comfortable maintaining my knives and know what works for everyday kitchen use. Before buying this, I spent time researching more well-known options like Zwilling, Wüsthof, and Dalstrong. They’re clearly good knives, but I was looking for some very specific features: a half bolster, a proper finger choil, good heel access, neutral balance, and a toe profile that works for both push cutting and light rocking. Just as important, I wanted a smooth, tapered transition where the blade meets the handle for a comfortable pinch grip. This HOSHANHO 8” chef knife checked all of those boxes. I bought it in September and use it regularly for vegetables and meat. Out of the box sharpness was excellent. I haven’t sharpened it yet — I only hone it lightly after each use — and it’s been holding its edge very well so far. The listed steel (10Cr15CoMoV, ~60 HRC) feels believable based on real use. Comfort is what really sets it apart for me. The spine and choil are nicely rounded, and the taper at the pinch point makes the knife very comfortable to use, even during longer prep sessions. Balance sits right where I want it, so the knife feels controlled and easy to work with. The handle isn’t full tang, which some people may care about, but it feels solid and well fitted. In actual kitchen use, the balance and ergonomics matter more to me than tang construction. Price was the final push. Compared to Zwilling, Wüsthof, or Dalstrong, this knife was significantly less expensive — and at the discounted Amazon price, the risk felt minimal. Even if it hadn’t worked out, it wouldn’t have mattered much. Instead, it became my go-to chef knife, and I removed another knife from my block to make room for it. I liked it enough that I ended up buying one as a Christmas gift for my best friend.
