Brilliant book.
Cleverly written tale based on Audrey Hepburn's teenage years under Nazi occupation in the Netherlands. I've also read D-Day Dog by Tom Palmer, and I have nothing but praise for his stories. Resist told a little known side of WW2 in occupied Europe. Tom's research was spot on and very accurate. I particularly liked the way Tom told the history without actually saying this is "D-Day, Operation Market Garden or Operation Manna". A great way into WW2 for young people.

A fascinating read, highly recommended
Tom Palmer’s historical fiction novels are informative, gripping, moving reads and Resist is no exception. It is based on Audrey Hepburn's childhood during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, taking place during the latter part of WW2. It gives a fascinating insight into the incredible hardships the Dutch people faced during occupation and especially during the end of the war and the story itself is sensitively written and at times heartbreaking. We learn about the Dutch Resistance and Edda’s (Hepburn’s) role in helping them where her’s and their bravery shine through. This may be a young readers category but I would have no hesitation in recommending it to any age. I was absorbed from start to finish and as a Primary School teacher I shall be reading it to my pupils and recommending it to my colleagues to read fir themselves. 5 well deserved stars 🌟

Brilliant
I decided to buy this book second hand from Amazon and I received a proof copy. This should not be happening. The removed star is purely for that and not the actual book. It is a gripping read about Audrey Hepburn under her fake name Edda in Nazi occupied Netherlands.

Brilliant book - and really gripped my 9yo
This is really well written and doesn't avoid the terrible impact of the occupation, but tells the story in a way that brings a young reader in. My 9yo was absolutely gripped and wanting to understand more about WW2 and it's impact. Thoroughly recommend.

Brilliant WW2 story from a new point of view
Another fantastic historical story from one of my very favourite writers. This one was inspired by Audrey Hepburn's teenaged war experiences, and tells the story of one girl working for the Dutch resistance in World War II.As with all the other books I've read by this author, I was totally immersed in the world and the time, and captivated by the well researched story.
