Q: Do the bands fasten with velcro? It doesn't specify in the product description.

It is a nylon adjustable strap. The strap functions the same as a Velcro strap. Velcro is technically a brand and thus manufacturers are forbidden from using the word Velcro to describe the nylon adjustable strap. But the technology is the same as you would find on a toddlers shoe strap or a gym bag. Thank you for choosing Vigilant!

Q: What protects the wearer from the accompanying noise from the device ?

The noise level is not damaging to the wearer; you do not need protection from it.

Q: If I wore it with the device on underside of the wrist would the button be more likely to get accidentally pushed?

I believe it would. Sometimes even wearing the device on the upside position you can inadvertently set it off. However it is easy to turn off right away.

Q: Can it be used as an alarm clock?

No. It isn't a watch and doesn't have time. Just two buttons. One to turn on a flashing lights and the other to activate the alarm.
