It is a comb. You have to clean out the bristles.

Is this good for rabbits?

Yes! I use it both for my French angoras and American shorthair. It works great!

Is this good for large thicker coated dogs? I have a golden that I keep cut fairly short in the summer, but her undercoat is still so thick!

You have your choice between the small one 2.5 in or the large one 4 in.

Is this safe for cats?

Be very cautious! If you over-brush you could wind up giving your cat bald spots.
